Someone has rightly said: 'It's never too late to turn your dreams into reality'. Well, this line might sound 'bookish' and 'preachy', but this Bollywood actor proved it true with his hard work, determination, and unmatchable acting talent. Guess what? He not only struggled for 14 years but also worked as a waiter, sold namkeen and biscuits via his farsan shop, and finally made his Bollywood debut at the age of 42. He is none other than Boman Irani.
Boman Irani's early life and education
Born on December 2, 1959, Boman Irani 's father passed away 6 months before his birth. He suffered from dyslexia in his childhood, and managed a bakery and family namkeen shop in Mumbai along with his mother. Irani also did a waiter course at Mithibai College (Mumbai) and served at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel (popularly known as The Taj Hotel). He then worked as a photographer until his marriage and even sold photos of school cricket and football matches for just 20 to 30 rupees. His photography career rose as he managed to become the official photographer for the Indian Boxing Association.
Boman Irani's acting career
The 65-year-old had a passion for acting since his childhood. Boman did theater for several years before making his screen acting debut in 2001 with Everybody Says I'm Fine! His breakthrough role was 'Dr Asthana' in Rajkumar Hirani 's debut film Munna Bhai MBBS. Since then, Irani has been an incredible part of every Hirani directorial, which includes Lage Raho Munna Bhai, 3 Idiots, PK, Sanju, and Dunki, apart from Munna Bhai MBBS.
Besides the titles mentioned above, the veteran star has always impressed the audience with his brilliant acting skills. To name a few, his rich filmography includes Main Hoon Na, Lakshya, Veer-Zaara, Waqt: The Race Against Time, Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara, Being Cyrus, Khosla Ka Ghosla, Don- The Chase Begins Again, Well Done Abba, Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd., Housefull, Don 2, Shirin Farhad ki Toh Nikal Padi, Jolly LLB, Jayeshbhai Jordaar, Uunchai, and more.
Boman turned director and producer with The Mehta Boys, starring himself and Avinash Tiwary in the lead roles. While he is yet to announce his second directorial, he will be next seen in Detective Sherdil, Tanvi The Great and The Raja Saab.

'Exclusively in theatres': Bollywood tests new methods to release movies

Bollywood is trying out various scripts to lure audiences back to the big screen. This comes as the rising dominance of over-the-top (OTT) platforms makes it difficult for movies to run for long periods on the silver screen, thus hurting the cinema industry. The latest attempt is by Aamir Khan, who decided to release his film, Sitaare Zameen Par, exclusively in theatres. On Thursday, Multiplex Association of India (MAI) applauded Aamir Khan's decision to release the film exclusively in theatres. This comes after some media reports said that the much-awaited movie is expected to be released on YouTube through a pay-per-view model after its theatre release, and not on OTT platforms. According to a film trade analyst, it is still not confirmed if the RS Prasanna-directed sequel to Taare Zameen Par will be released on YouTube. On the other hand, Girish Wankhede, film trade analyst, said it is highly unlikely for any other movie to be released on YouTube. Selling the rights of movies to streaming platforms helps producers recover a certain amount of their invested budget on the film. Through YouTube, the chances of recovering this money are unlikely. He further noted that Sitaare Zameen Par isn't a mass-audience film like Dangal or PK. These had the possibility of working well on a popular platform like YouTube. While select movies like Chhaava and Raid 2 performed well at the box office (BO), some high-profile ones like Salman Khan's Sikandar, Akshay Kumar's Sky Force, and the latest being Sajid Nadiadwala-produced Housefull 5 have failed to attract the desired footfalls and BO numbers. 'Housefull 5 was not successful because the cost of production was too high (around ₹250 crore). It will, at the most, make around ₹170 crore…Still, the film is in loss,' said Wankhede. After the opening weekend, the movie has seen a spike in its BO collection due to the ticket price offers on Tuesdays. In May, the producers (Maddock Films) of Rajkummar Rao-starrer Bhool Chuk Maaf had suddenly decided to release the movie directly on Amazon Prime Video, which was later released in theatres due to a court order. This order came after PVR INOX took Maddock Films to court for changing its decision to release the movie in theatres. The cumulative BO collection for January-May was up by 27 per cent to ₹4,812 crore compared to the same period last year, according to an Ormax Media report. These attempts by the industry come at a time when film producers are still in a 'wait-and-watch' mode and are thinking twice before starting to work on movies. This comes as several films have not made money at the BO. Some have not even recovered their costs.

R Madhavan rents out 4,000 sqft BKC apartment in Mumbai for THIS amount: Check all details

Actor R. Madhavan, known for his roles in movies like Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein and 3 Idiots, has rented out his 4,000 sqft flat in Mumbai's posh Bandra Kulra Complex (BKC) area and is expected to collect ₹ 1.60 crore from tenants over two years. According to a report by Square Yards, the co-owned residential apartment of the actor and his wife Sarita in BKC has been rented out. Documents reviewed by the real estate tracker on the website of the Inspector General of Registration (IGR) shows that the leave and licence agreement was officially registered in June 2025. At the beginning, the tenants who have received this flat will pay a monthly rent of ₹ 6.50 lakh to R Madhavan. The lease tenure spans 24 months (two years), starting from the first week of June 2025, with a lock-in period of 16 months. While the monthly rent starts at ₹ 6.50 lakh per month in the beginning, the rent will be increased by 5 per cent to approximately ₹ 6.83 lakh in the second year. The cumulative rent collected over these 16 months is expected to be around ₹ 1.60 crore, according to Square Yards. The rental agreement further includes a security deposit of ₹ 39 lakh and was registered with a stamp duty of ₹ 47,000 and registration charges of ₹ 1,000. Based on the agreed rental terms and acquisition cost, the gross rental yield stands at approximately 4.5 per cent for the first year, rising to around 4.7 per cent in the second year of the lease. As per the registration documents of R Madhavan's property, the actor and his wife's flat is located in Signia Pearl, Bandra Kurla Complex. The size of the flat in the prime location is 388.55 square metres or about 4,182 sqft, as per Square Yards. The actor brought the flat in July last year for a total amount of ₹ 17.50 crore. Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) is a planned commercial hub in Mumbai, developed to ease congestion in traditional business districts. It hosts a concentration of financial institutions, multinational companies, and consulates, making it one of the city's most sought-after office markets. While primarily commercial, the surrounding areas have seen high-end residential development driven by proximity and infrastructure. Strong connectivity and consistent demand continue to keep property values elevated across segments.

Boman Irani recalls Sunil Dutt ordering 23 umbrellas so crew could eat together

Veteran actor Boman Irani will soon be seen in Anupam Kher's 'Tanvi The Great'. Known for his memorable roles in films like 'Munna Bhai MBBS' and '3 Idiots', he recently reflected on how the culture on film sets has changed over the an exclusive chat with India Today, recalling a heartwarming memory from his first commercial film, 'Munna Bhai MBBS', Irani shared, 'Sunil Dutt saab came on set and was surprised. He asked, 'Why is everybody going to their vans?' He stopped everyone and said, 'Please, I don't care. Bring 23 beach umbrellas, set up a nice circle — sab log yaar, khana saath mein khayenge (everyone will eat together).''advertisementThe actor went on to express his nostalgia for that era. 'That era is gone. Now people go to their vans. Everyone eats separately. And I feel that camaraderie on set — people eating together — that really matters.' While the on-set dynamics may have shifted, Boman finds inspiration in the new generation of actors. 'What really impresses me today is the youngsters. They prepare very well, which is really, really good. Some of them come from drama school, some from theatre — and those are the ones who are truly prospering.'He also emphasised the importance of preparation in acting, quoting legendary Hollywood actor Spencer Tracy: 'Learn your lines, hit your marks, and don't walk into the furniture.' Boman added, 'It sounds simple, but it means: just come prepared. Nobody's asking you to solve E = mc. It's a simple job — as long as you're prepared, that should be good."'Tanvi The Great' is scheduled for release on July 18 in theatres. Must Watch
