Confirmed: Kaitlyn Dever is the Lead of The Last of Us Season 3

Geek Feed4 days ago

A lot of fans were disappointed that Kaitlyn Dever was too old to play Ellie when The Last of Us series was announced, but they did manage to bring her to the show in the form of Abby—Ellie's rival.
Now with Season 2 ended, and fans looking forward to Season 3, series co-creator Neil Druckmann has confirmed that Dever will actually be the lead for the next season of The Last of Us . He confirms it at an Emmys FYC event:

This should come as no surprise to people who have played The Last of Us Part II . After all, one of the biggest twists in the game is finding out that you have to play the entirety of the Seattle timeline from Abby's perspective.
Admittedly, game fans were worried that the series won't be able to milk the same kind of emotional reaction from players like the game did, but so far, I think the changes that have been done were for the better, including the reveal of Ellie and Joel's last talk and Abby's reason for going after Joel.
Unsurprisingly, there are already a lot of fans that have been bashing the second season for not meeting expectations, but hopefully Druckmann and co-showrunner Craig Mazin stick true to where they want to go because I wasn't expecting the fandom to play nice—particularly with this very divisive story.
I just hope we don't have to wait another two years to finally see what Abby's Seattle story is going to be like.
No release date has been set for The Last of Us Season 3.

'That's Not His Arm': The Mr. Fantastic Popcorn Bucket is the New Dune Popcorn Bucket

'Are you the Mr. Fantastic Popcorn Bucket or are you just happy to see me?' We know that Fantastic Four: First Steps is going to be getting a big Galactus popcorn bucket, but there is also another bucket based on the main four members, and the reveal for the Mr. Fantastic popcorn bucket is getting the same reactions as the one from Dune not too long ago . Check this out: First look at a Reed Richards popcorn bucket for 'THE FANTASTIC FOUR' — DiscussingFilm (@DiscussingFilm) June 18, 2025 While the bucket is obviously showing off Mr. Fantastic's powers by having him stretch his arm around the bucket, the fact that his left arm isn't showing and the bucket seems to be directly connected to his crotch immediately prompted the rest of Twitter to make jokes about how Reed is actually using his 'third arm' to hold the bucket. Why does it look like…. Nevermind — CHRIS (@ChrisBlackadder) June 18, 2025 If anything, it does feel like Mr. Fantastic is a very tricky character to market nowadays since his powers always lead to someone somehow finding a way to make a joke about how he can stretch his penis. Remember when Reed Richards was released for Marvel Rivals earlier this year? Mr Fantastic — Siqintha Hedd (@Loudwindow) January 3, 2025 This isn't the edit, but you get the point. Well, the joke has been made multiple times, even in the official comics; so I guess anyone who is trying to market Mr. Fantastic should be well aware what to expect when you have a guy with stretchy powers. Good thing DC's Plastic Man isn't as popular because we wouldn't be hearing the end of it. Catch Fantastic Four: First Steps when it comes to cinemas on July 25.

Rachel Brosnahan Says People Who Act in Bad Superhero Films Need to ‘Stand By It'

With the surplus of comic book movies today, there was always bound to be some terrible films, and some actors—like Dakota Johnson—have been open about projects like Madame Web bombing not being her fault. Rachel Brosnahan is about to make her superhero jump with James Gunn's Superman soon, and though we haven't met her Lois Lane yet, she has something to say to other actors who are quick to dismiss their comic book movie work. Talking to Amanda Seyfried for Interview Magazine, Brosnahan explains: 'I don't know why people say yes [to a project] only to then turn around and complain about it… Look, I don't want to shit on other actors, but there was a minute where it was cool to not like superhero movies and to look back on projects like this and pooh-pooh them. Do it or don't do it, and then stand by it.' While Brosnahan didn't mention anybody specific, a lot of fans immediately thought of a few people who had been trashing their previous projects. Besides Johnson, Chris Hemsworth had also opened up about not being happy with the last Thor film; and Ryan Reynolds has infamously shat on his Green Lantern run even long after he found success with Deadpool. Though I appreciate anyone who owns up to mistakes, I do have to say that Brosnahan has it lucky so far not having been cast in a bad superhero film. I mean, she pretty much hit the jackpot moving directly to Superman from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel ; god forbid she was a secondary character in a mid Marvel movie somewhere in the 2010s. For now, watch out for Brosnahan in Superman which comes to cinemas on July 11.

Looks Like There's Hope for Mindhunter Fans After All

Netflix's Mindhunter managed to deliver two seasons before it got cancelled on Netflix, and while a lot of people cried for the series to come back, it looked like David Fincher had moved on. But as it turns out, there could be hope for the show after all. In a recent talk with CBR, Holt McCallany says he met with Fincher recently and says the series could come back in the form of a trilogy of films. He explains: 'I had a meeting with David Fincher in his office a few months ago, and he said to me that there is a chance that it may come back as three two-hour movies, but I think it's just a chance. I know there are writers that are working, but you know, David has to be happy with scripts.' While the series has managed to showcase several real-life serial killers, one big cliffhanger involves the BTK Killer who is shown committing his murders around the same time as the series; but it's ultimately more tragic when you realize that BTK was caught in 2005. For now, McCallany says that ' stars would all have to align' to get a new Mindhunter trilogy going on Netflix, but with Stranger Things ending, maybe Netflix could look back at one of their more popular shows soon. Besides Mindhunter , there have also been calls for a GLOW movie which I've also been campaigning for, but we'll just have to wait and see what happens. In the meantime, you can watch two excellent seasons of Mindhunter now streaming on Netflix.
