IT Min Sridhar launches SITHA app to empower women in Telangana
HYDERABAD: IT Minister D Sridhar Babu reaffirmed the state government's firm commitment to women's empowerment, not merely in word but through decisive and measurable action. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the government is on a mission to transform one crore women into crorepatis, and this ambitious journey has already begun.
The minister was speaking at the launch of the 'SITHA' (She Is The Hero Always) app, developed by SheJobs, at a grand event held at Hotel Trident in Hitec City, Hyderabad. He described the app launch as a celebration of a larger movement, one that aspires to provide women across Telangana, regardless of their background, with equal access to opportunity, economic independence, and leadership.
Commenting on the potential of the SITHA app, the Minister noted that it would open international markets for skilled rural women and artisans, giving them a platform to showcase their products and talent.
'This app will serve as a beacon of guidance for rural women striving for economic independence. It is not merely a digital product, it is a powerful step toward rewriting the empowerment narrative,' he said.

Hyderabad The Telangana government has spent a staggering ₹1.04 lakh crore, ever since the Congress came to power, to revitalise agriculture and garnered the attention of other States. The series of pro-farmer policies include a ₹2 lakh loan waiver that has freed 25 lakh farmers from debt in a single year, as against the previous governments that took years to release crop loan waiver in installments, a senior Minister argued. The Revanth Reddy government waived crop loans worth ₹20,616 crore in its first year alone, bringing immediate relief and restoring the economic dignity of farmers across Telangana, said Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy. The Rythu Bharosa scheme has disbursed ₹7,310.59 crore within five days, beginning June 16, helping 65.12 lakh farmers. In total, the government has spent ₹12,682 crore on Rythu Bharosa payouts in 18 months. The government intends to disburse ₹9,000 crore in nine days. The same was informed to senior Congress leaders in New Delhi during the Chief Minister's recent visits drawing appreciation from the Congress leadership. Besides, the government continued 24x7 free electricity for agriculture and providing a subsidy of ₹16,691 crore for 29 lakh pump sets. The grain procurement practice has reached a new scale with ₹500 per quintal bonus incentive for paddy helping the Sreach a new milestone in rice production. Officials said in 2023-24, the government procured 95.31 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from 15 lakh farmers at a cost of ₹20,964 crore. So far, paddy worth ₹29,562 crore has been purchased and payments made to over 21.59 lakh farmers. Telangana produced 2.80 crore metric tonnes of paddy this year, highest in the country. Telangana is also leading in oil palm cultivation, with 18,985 farmers planting the crop across 60,432 acres since the Congress government took charge, officials argued. Officials also revealed that farmers hit by unseasonal rains and floods received ₹10,000 per acre in compensation, totalling ₹260 crore. Revival of Central schemes In addition, the State government has revived 16 Centrally-sponsored schemes that were previously stalled due to non-release of matching grants. A sum of ₹245 crore has been allocated for their reactivation. Telangana is also providing drip and sprinkler irrigation systems, including 100% for SC/ST farmers, 90% for small and marginal farmers, and 80% for others with 75% subsidy on sprinklers. Since December 2023, equipment worth ₹282 crore has been distributed to 40,265 farmers.

K'taka Minister Kharge writes to EAM Jaishankar seeking clarification on denial of clearance for US visit
Bengaluru: Minister for RDPR, IT and BT, Priyank Kharge, has written a letter to the External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Friday seeking clarification on denial of political clearance for an official visit to the United States. In his letter, Minister Kharge stated, 'I am writing to seek a formal clarification from the Ministry of External Affairs on the denial of political clearance for my scheduled official visit to the United States from June 14-27, 2025." "The visit was planned around two significant international forums, the BIO International Convention in Boston and the Design Automation Conference (DAC) in San Francisco, as well as several official meetings with top companies, universities and institutions, where I was to represent the Government of Karnataka to explore collaborations, attract investments and create employment opportunities for the state,' he said. "In the absence of a formal communication from the Ministry outlining the reasons for denial, it becomes difficult to assess and plan future engagements of this nature. It also raises concerns about the consistency of the process, especially when the visits are official, sector-critical and in National Interest," Minister Kharge noted. 'I would, therefore, request the Ministry to kindly provide a formal explanation for the denial and consider a more transparent and consultative approach in handling such official engagements in the future,' Priyank Kharge demanded. Karnataka is the technology capital and growth engine of not just India, but the Asia-Pacific region. It has emerged as a global leader in innovation and start-ups, consistently maintaining its position at the forefront of information technology, biotechnology, electronics design and manufacturing, aerospace, space technology and Defence production, he further stated. More importantly, participation in such visits are aligned with our National priorities and would have directly supported the larger vision of 'Viksit Bharat' laid out by the Prime Minister," Kharge emphasised. Commenting on the Central government's denial of permission for his visit to the US, Minister Priyank Kharge had stated on Thursday that the NDA government was attempting to undermine Karnataka's success. Speaking to reporters at the Bengaluru International Airport after returning from a tour of Paris, Priyank Kharge had said, 'It seems they are trying to prevent Karnataka's success.' 'It is okay if they reject the permission, but there must be valid reasons for doing so. If they provide appropriate reasons, it becomes acceptable. However, the categorical denial of permission for the US visit is not right,' he stated. 'We were not going to the US to play 'Dandiya' (a traditional dance form). I will meet Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to discuss this matter. After the discussion, we will brief the media,' he said. "The Central government must provide valid reasons for refusing the visit to the US. Initially, the entire delegation was denied permission. Later, the delegation was cleared, but I was still denied permission,' Kharge said.

BENGALURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and IT-BT Minister Priyank Kharge have decided to write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, respectively, seeking an explanation as to why the Union Government denied permission to Priyank to travel to the US to attend the Bio International Convention in Boston and the Design Automation Conference in San Francisco. Priyank said that his absence from the platform will have an impact on the state's IT sector. 'If the minister is not seen in the forum, they might think Karnataka is not serious...,' Priyank said. 'We are pioneers in software exports. We are bringing investments to the country. We are contributing to the country's GDP growth, and we are making the PM's slogans into reality. The delegation, which is helping to make these possible, has been rejected with no valid reasons. I have no issues if there are any mistakes on our behalf, we are ready to correct them. But rejecting without valid reasons is not acceptable. Nation-building is not happening only in Delhi, Karnataka is building the nation. We are the most powerful economic engine. We want to know why they were denied with a suitable explanation. Otherwise, we will consider it as politics,'' Priyank said. Further, he said CM Siddaramaiah approved his travel to the US in the first week of May. 'On May 15, we approached MEA along with our minute-to-minute meetings. But on June 4, they rejected it without giving any reasons. If there was an issue with our proposal or format, if they had rejected it, we would have accepted it. But on June 6, we sent the same list of delegations without my name, they approved it by June 11, and on June 12, we sent KIONICS chairman Sharath Bacchegowda, as we wanted decision-makers, which they approved on June 14. It looks like they are indulging in politics. They hate the name Priyank and the Kharge surname,'' Priyank said, adding that his visit to France was on invitation. He said that when US President Trump says iPhone should not be made in India, the Centre keeps quiet. 'This means the government is adhering to what the US President is saying. It looks like India's foreign policy has been outsourced to America, and now it looks like even investment policy is outsourced to America,' he said.
