Delhi on the go: How the Metro ecosystem is redefining city living
Delhi life moves fast, and Delhi Metro is setting the pace. Whether you're heading to work or making it to post-dinner plans on time, staying ahead in the Capital calls for more than just speed — it demands smart, connected solutions. For decades, the Metro has been Delhi's go-to mode of travel. Now, with the Momentum 2.0 app, it's more than transport — it's a complete urban ecosystem. From booking tickets to securing lockers and solving the last-mile connectivity challenge, the app is designed to simplify life on the move.
For many Delhiites, the city's long days and spontaneous plans mean carrying extra bags, laptops or gym kits. Smart Lockers, available at several key Metro stations, are changing that.
Ravisha Poddar, a 26-year-old journalist who commutes from West Delhi to Noida, swears by them: 'If I'm going to a movie or meeting friends after work, I don't want to lug my laptop around. I just drop it off in a smart locker and go hands-free. It's safe, secure, and honestly, a huge stress-buster.'
The Momentum 2.0 app goes beyond the Metro station. With its integrated door-to-door connectivity, including bike taxi bookings, commuters are experiencing smoother last-mile travel. 'My office isn't next to the Metro. But now I just book a bike from the app itself,' Ravisha says, adding, 'I reach on time without needing a second app.'
Momentum 2.0 is also simplifying the booking experience — from QR Metro tickets to event passes and even IRCTC train tickets. Parikshit Tyagi, a 25-year-old marketing professional who often visits Connaught Place or Bharat Mandapam, appreciates the streamlined experience. 'Earlier, switching lines confused me. But now I check the fastest route and book tickets in-app. No juggling between tabs. It's all sorted,' he says.
For Parul Sharma, 24, who rarely takes the Metro for daily commutes but uses shuttles or attends events, the app is still a go-to: 'I don't use the Metro daily, but I still use Momentum 2.0 to book event tickets or shuttles. It's faster and simpler than other platforms.'
From travel to ticketing, lockers to last-mile, the DMRC Momentum 2.0 app is helping Delhiites live lighter, travel smarter, and do more — all through a single, unified platform.

Maha Mumbai Metro achieves record daily ridership of 2.94 lakh
Mumbai: The Maha Mumbai Metro achieved its highest-ever daily ridership on June 18, 2025, with 2,94,681 commuters using the city's Metro Lines 2A and 7. This development marked a new milestone in Mumbai's urban transit journey. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Officials from the Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd (MMMOCL) said, "The record numbers are attributed to the growing trust of Mumbaikars, seamless operations, and the widespread adoption of its digital ticketing system." The official further stated that over 65% of the tickets on that day were booked via the WhatsApp-based ticketing platform, reflecting the success of its technology-driven commuter services. "This achievement is a reflection of Mumbaikars' continued confidence in the metro network and the relentless commitment of our staff. We are grateful for the support and enthusiasm shown by our commuters," said a senior MMMOCL official. This surpasses the previous ridership high of over 2.92 lakh recorded on October 8, 2024, the day Mumbai received its new metro connection between Aarey Colony and Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). Earlier, on June 6, 2024, the network recorded a ridership of 2,60,471 in a single day. Metro Lines 2A and 7, operated by MMMOCL, have become vital cogs in Mumbai's suburban transport ecosystem. The 18.6-km-long Metro Line 2A connects Dahisar to D N Nagar via 17 stations, linking with Metro Lines 1, 2B, and 6. Meanwhile, the 16.5-km-long Metro Line 7 runs from Dahisar East to Andheri East, significantly decongesting the Western Express Highway and integrating with key metro corridors across the city.

Delhi Development Authority plans hot-air balloon rides at 2 sports complexes
Delhiites may soon get to experience the thrill of hot-air balloon rides as the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is planning to launch the recreational activity at the Yamuna and the Commonwealth Games Village sports complexes, officials said. According to officials, after careful consideration, the two locations have been selected for the initial start of the project, and a tender has been issued inviting private players to operate these rides at DDA sites. "These sites will be offered for operation of hot air ballooning on a revenue-sharing basis. The required area, approximately 60 metres by 60 metres at each site, will be provided to the firm as per mutually agreed timings and days," the tender issued by the DDA. With an eye on generating revenue and promoting tourism, the landowning agency has marked four sites at each of the two mega sports complexes managed by it. Currently, there are several other sporting areas within these complexes. According to officials, the firms will be allowed to advertise on the balloons, and the licence issued will be for three years, which will be extendable up to a maximum of nine years. "The space will be provided to the firm for undertaking a maximum of four hours of flying per day. However, temporary permission for additional hours may be granted by DDA on a case-by-case basis," the proposal added. The price of the hot-air balloon rides will be decided by the firm, however, DDA has directed that it be kept reasonable. Spread across a vast space of around 100 acres, the Commonwealth Games Village along the banks of the Yamuna River was constructed as a residence for athletes during the Commonwealth Games in 2010. It is located near the Akshardham temple. The Yamuna Sports Complex, situated in Surajmal Vihar, was also constructed for the games.
