EVIS Abu Dhabi 2025 kicks off with focus on future of electric mobility
The 4th edition of the Electric Vehicle Innovation Summit (EVIS) Abu Dhabi 2025 officially opened on Monday at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, hosted by Adnoc Distribution and held in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.
Running until 23rd April, EVIS Abu Dhabi 2025 has evolved into the region's premier platform for electric vehicle innovation and clean transportation. The event welcomed senior officials, international delegates and global industry leaders.
This year's edition is organised by Nirvana MICE, with Abu Dhabi Mobility serving as the Mobility Partner and UAEV as the Innovation Partner, underscoring the UAE's continued commitment to pioneering sustainable and smart transport solutions.
Engineer Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, underscored that the Electric Vehicle Innovation Summit (EVIS 2025) is the largest and most significant EV event in the Mena region. Now in its fourth edition, EVIS is gaining popularity, as evidenced by the increasing number of participating companies, which are seizing this opportunity to unveil ground-breaking advancements, connect with decision-makers, and be at the forefront of sustainable mobility.
Delivering the opening remarks at EVIS 2025, Al Olama said, 'The UAE has firmly placed sustainability at the heart of its national agenda. Guided by the UAE Net Zero 2050 Strategy, the UAE Energy Strategy 2050, and the National Demand-Side Management Programme, we are committed to transforming the way we consume energy - and transport plays a pivotal role in this transformation.'
He added, 'To encourage people to make the switch to EVs, we are growing the charging stations network, ensuring that range anxiety becomes a thing of the past for electric vehicle owners. To support this goal, we launched UAEV, a joint venture between the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and Etihad Water and Electricity. UAEV is a bold step to deploy a nationwide charging network that supports our EV ambitions. As we accelerate EV adoption, we're also thinking ahead. In partnership with Bee'ah, we are establishing the region's first electric and hybrid battery recycling facility - transforming waste into opportunity and closing the loop through circular economy practices.
We are proud to say that the UAE ranked 1st in the Middle East in 2024 for the highest share of electric and hybrid vehicle sales out of total car sales, reaching almost 26 per cent. As the trend continues to grow, we project a reduction of over 400 kilotons of carbon emissions from the transport sector alone by 2050.'
Al Olama noted that achieving green mobility targets requires strong public-private collaboration, further investments in the infrastructure, effective collaboration across the supply chain, and innovative technologies.' Adding to the excitement, Xpeng UAE is showcasing its groundbreaking air taxi, a major highlight offering a first-hand glimpse into the future of autonomous, vertical electric transport.
EVIS Abu Dhabi 2025 offers an array of immersive features, including an EV Outdoor Test Drive Zone where attendees can experience the latest electric vehicles firsthand, and a E-Circuit Zone designed for live-action performance demonstrations.
The Charging Oasis gathers leading OEMs to showcase next-generation charging technologies, while the Market Gateway is a dedicated space designed to facilitate meaningful connections between industry leaders and like-minded professionals.
Complementing these experiences is a world-class conference programme featuring an influential lineup of speakers, policymakers, and industry leaders tackling critical topics across mobility, energy, and sustainability.

RoboTaxi at EVIS: Autogo, a UAE-based autonomous mobility solutions company operating under Kintsugi Holding, is showcasing its RoboTaxi at the Electric Vehicle Innovation Summit (EVIS), in collaboration with the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC). This marks the first time the RoboTaxi is being presented at a major public event, which kicked off today at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi and runs until 23rd April.
The showcase follows active trials currently underway at Emirates Driving Company (EDC), where the RoboTaxi is being tested in real-world conditions. EVIS provides a timely platform to publicly demonstrate Autogo's progress, engage stakeholders, and highlight Abu Dhabi's ambition to lead the region in intelligent mobility solutions.

UAE advances as global maritime power through system of legislation, investments
The UAE has become a leading global maritime hub, building on a strong record of achievements, progressive legislation, and strategic investments that have made it a model in maritime sustainability, advanced infrastructure, and sound governance. The country has taken a leading role in drafting regulatory best practices for autonomous maritime vessels. The UAE boasts one of the most advanced maritime infrastructures in the region. In 2023, the country's ports handled around 21 million TEUs, setting record figures in facilitating trade and the flow of goods. The maritime sector contributed approximately AED135 billion to the national GDP, reflecting the vital economic importance of this sector. The UAE is considered the leading destination for commercial vessels in the region, thanks to its comprehensive services, high operational capabilities, and advanced digital systems that enhance the efficiency of logistics operations. The country has prioritised the development of human capital in the maritime sector, and through the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and maritime administration experts, has organized specialised training workshops in cooperation with the International Maritime Organisation (IMO). Between 2020 and 2025, six regional workshops were held, in addition to participating in audit missions for several countries, including Egypt, Greece, Malta, and Thailand. The UAE has also established several maritime academies, such as the Sharjah Maritime Academy and the Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy, alongside training programmes at the Higher Colleges of Technology. These institutions have graduated approximately 497 marine officers and engineers, including 100 female officers and engineers—a step that underscores the country's commitment to supporting women's roles in this vital sector. As part of its environmental commitment, the UAE has announced its Net Zero 2050 Strategy and has been a pioneer in implementing sustainable solutions within the maritime sector. Fujairah Port stands as a regional model for supplying ships with low-sulfur clean fuel and also offers liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering services, in alignment with the MARPOL Convention to prevent air pollution from ships. Moreover, the UAE has joined the Global Ports Hydrogen Coalition and the Green Shipping Corridors Alliance. The UAE is also among the leading developers of digital and smart systems in the maritime shipping sector. It has launched pioneering projects such as Blue Pass, Maqta Gateway, BoxBay intelligent container storage system, and CargoSpeed, along with container loading automation systems used in Abu Dhabi and Dubai ports. These advanced technologies contribute to reducing carbon emissions, improving supply chain efficiency, and offering a comprehensive model for logistical automation. UAE companies have extended their maritime sector investments to over 78 countries, contributing to the development of ports and maritime terminals, building global trade bridges, and advancing automation and digitalisation in global shipping. The number of ports operated by UAE national entities worldwide has reached 106, reflecting the country's advanced logistical position and its pivotal role in connecting global markets. The UAE has aligned its national strategy with the objectives of IMO and has declared its full support for decarbonising maritime transport. UAE chairs Global Energy Efficiency Alliance
19 June 2025 15:25 DUBAI (WAM)The UAE, represented by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI), announced that it is chairing the Global Energy Efficiency Alliance (GEEA) for the coming years, following the formation of GEEA's General UAE announced its intention to establish GEEA during the 29th UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku, in support of the UAE Consensus and the global goal of doubling the energy efficiency improvement rate, from the historical average of two percent to over four percent annually by reaffirms the UAE's commitment to placing energy efficiency at the forefront of the international energy and climate effort comes at a critical moment, as the world is currently off track, the global energy efficiency improvement rate remains below 1.5 percent annually, and at this pace, the world will fall short of achieving its decarbonisation and net-zero complements other high-level initiatives such as the Mission Efficiency partnership, the G20 Energy Transitions Working Group, and regional clean energy platforms. Last February, the UAE hosted a high-level roundtable during the World Government Summit in Dubai, where the general framework of the alliance was discussed with several countries, international organisations, private sector entities, and financial institutions.
