
Abdulla Al Hamed holds talks with media leaders in London ahead of 'Bridge'

LONDON (WAM) Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Office (NMO) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the UAE Media Council, held a series of bilateral meetings in London with several leaders from the global media sector, including institutions, companies and academic organisations.The meetings were attended by Dr. Jamal Mohammed Al Kaabi, Director-General of the National Media Office.These engagements form part of NMO's ongoing preparations for the upcoming Bridge Summit, scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi this December. The meetings aimed to strengthen international partnerships and expand cooperation with leading global institutions, contributing to the enrichment of the summit's content and reinforcing its status as a global hub for media dialogue.Discussions explored opportunities to enhance collaboration and establish strategic partnerships to drive the growth of innovative media projects and ensure the sector's long-term sustainability.The talks also focused on enriching visual and digital content and utilising emerging technologies to support innovation and creativity within the media industry.Al Hamed emphasised that the UAE leadership's vision for media stems from a firm belief in its role as a key driver in building knowledge-based societies and as a bridge for cultural exchange with the world. He reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to fostering integrated partnerships with international institutions to elevate the global standing of UAE media and incorporate best practices that keep pace with rapid global developments.He noted that the Bridge Summit reflects an ambitious vision to develop a forward-looking media ecosystem that aligns with evolving technologies and anticipates the future of digital media.'Through this summit, we aim to establish a global platform for constructive dialogue and knowledge exchange among leaders in media and technology, contributing to the development of innovative media solutions that serve communities and promote the values of tolerance and coexistence,' he said.
Participants in the meetings included Meera Sultan Al Suwaidi, Member of the Federal National Council and Head of Sovereign Partnerships at Mubadala Investment Company; Matthew Hurn, Chief Financial Officer of Mubadala; Sir Martin Sorrell, a businessman and prominent figure in the media and marketing industry; Dr. Rebecca Swift, Senior Vice President of Creative at Getty Images; Dr. Ling Ge, General Manager and Chief European Officer at Tencent; Gail Amurao, Director of events at Monks; Chabi Nouri, Global Chief Executive Officer of Bonhams; Ahmed Hussain, Head of Network at BBC Asian Network; and Bart Yates, Executive Producer at Blinkink.

GCC visitors spending expected to reach $223.7 billion in 2034: GCC-Stat
21 June 2025 16:04 MUSCAT (WAM) The latest data released by the Statistical Centre for the Cooperation Council for the Arab Countries of the Gulf (GCC-Stat) revealed that the expected spending by visitors to GCC countries is projected to reach $223.7 billion in 2034, while the expected contribution of incoming visitor spending to total exports will reach 13.4%.The Centre also indicated that GCC countries are achieving steady progress in many tourism-related data demonstrate that total international visitor spending in GCC countries amounted to $135.5 billion in 2023, with a 28.9% increase compared to the figures recorded in GCC countries ranked first in the Middle East and North Africa region's 2024 Safety and Security Index. All GCC countries scored above the regional average of 5.86 points, taking into consideration that the index ranges from 1 to 7 points. They also ranked among the top 6 countries in terms of passport power in the Arab region.

Sheikh Abdullah delivers UAE President's message to Canadian PM

Mohammed bin Rashid announces changes to UAE government
20 June 2025 19:49 ABU DHABI (WAM) Following consultations and approval of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, announced on Friday changes to the UAE Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said, 'Following consultations with my brother, His Highness the President, and with his approval, we announce today changes to the UAE government as follows: Establishment of a Ministry of Foreign Trade in the UAE government and appointment of Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi as Minister of Foreign Trade, and renaming the Ministry of Economy to Ministry of Economy and Tourism led by Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri.'His Highness added, 'We also announce that the National Artificial Intelligence System will be adopted as an advisory member in the Council of Ministers, the Ministerial Development Council and all boards of federal entities and government companies starting from January 2026 to support decision-making in these councils, conduct real-time analyses of their decisions, provide technical advice, and enhance the efficiency of government policies adopted by these councils across all sectors.'
