Sedona, Arizona's Newest Hotel Has Rooms From Less Than $230 a Night—Plus Live Music at Sunset, Firepits, and a Beautiful Pool
The hotel is incredibly pet-friendly, boasting a full-acre outdoor dog park for your furry companion to run free.
Guests can enjoy live music as the sun sets at the on-property restaurant lounge.
The best hikes, restaurants, and outdoor activities in Sedona can be reached from the hotel within 15 minutes by car.
Notable on-site programming includes crystal bowl sound baths, energy alignment workshops, mindful meditation and breath work sessions, and sunrise ceremonies based on Indigenous traditions.
Mountain Modern, an adventure-driven hotel brand based in Wyoming, is setting up camp in the American Southwest. Its first outpost opened in Jackson Hole in 2017, but the brand officially expanded to Sedona, Arizona, to debut its second location this month.
'Mountain Modern is an approachable and playful brand, one that is ultimately rooted in the local experience and destination,' said Robert Nolan, co-creator of the hotel brand, told Travel + Leisure . 'Our property can be a place for travelers and locals alike to recharge, connect, and dive into everything that makes Sedona so magical.'
When I checked in, I was immediately handed a map of Sedona with all of the best things to see and do in the city, according to the hotel's 'wise guides," a.k.a. team of locals with tons of insider tips. It didn't take long for me to realize that Mountain Modern is one of the few hotels in the area that actually encourages you to leave the property and explore the destination, but it still manages to deliver all the comforts to make you feel right at home when you're ready to turn in.
I was the first person to check out the newly opened Mountain Modern Sedona—here's what it was like. Scenic views from inside a King guest room.
Brought to life by Arizona-based architecture and design firm RSP Architects, accommodations at Mountain Modern strike the perfect balance between functional and stylish. While the design caters to the outdoor enthusiast in a practical sense—think custom gear walls with designated hooks for walking poles—subtle touches of luxury shine through in the high-end amenities from Malin+Goetz and in-room electric fireplaces.
The King Suite was more than enough space for me and my travel companion, complete with separate king and queen-sized beds, a living area with a fireplace, and an outdoor patio. A sweeping mural of the red rocks shot by a local photographer hung over my bed to pay homage to the hotel's desert location.
Ultra health-focused travelers might opt for one of the two wellness suites, which feature a dedicated fitness studio with a Peloton bike and high-tech exercise equipment that come with virtual training programs. Interior of the King Suite Wellness Studio.
The Den serves comfort food and Southwestern classics (I was a big fan of the breakfast burrito) to nourish travelers ahead of their outdoor adventures, as well as a full-service bar to return to for a locally brewed craft beer or cocktail at the end of the day. With daily live music and an adjacent outdoor pool deck lined with fire pits, the space is designed to bring people together, reflecting the laid-back charm and welcoming energy the destination is known for.

Off-property daytime eats worth checking out are some of Sedona's healthiest options. Wildcraft Kitchen is a local favorite with power bowls made of locally sourced ingredients that cater to vegetarian and gluten-free diets. Their sibling restaurant, Local Juicery, has the best cold-pressed juice bar and smoothies in town, as well as a selection of superfood-focused healthy eats.
A newcomer to the Sedona restaurant scene, Broome & Orchard serves up unpretentious plates in an upscale setting with the red rocks of Sedona as its backdrop. The global menu is all over the map: with Japanese sushi rolls, Mediterranean-style lamb chops, and all-American barbecue ribs.
Spending time at the outdoor pool and hot tub is the perfect way to unwind at Mountain Modern Sedona. After a day full of outdoor adventures, guests can grab a nightcap at the bar and flick on the firepit as the sun sets over the red rocks of Sedona.

The city is widely known as one of the most spiritual destinations in the country, home to a number of vortex sites that are considered powerful sources of energy and healing. On-site programming at Mountain Modern embraces Sedona's mystical vibes with crystal bowl sound baths, mindful meditation and breath work sessions, and ceremonies inspired by Indigenous traditions. I especially loved paying a visit to the pet park at sunrise the first morning to set my intentions for the visit.
Guests won't have to leave the hotel for extra outdoor gear or a bike tune-up. The on-site tuning station has everything you need to get your bike in the best shape for an epic trail ride. And if you're looking for a guided tour, nearby Sedona Mountain Biking Academy (SMBA) is the obvious choice as the No. 1 rated mountain biking experience in the Southwest. As a beginner, I was impressed by the team at SMBA, who personalized my experience to fit my skill and comfort level. That doesn't mean I wasn't challenged, though, as I worked my way on to an intermediate trail by the tail end of the three-hour session.
Mountain Modern caters to all types of adventure travelers. The more spacious suites on property, complete with two bedrooms and a separate living space, can comfortably accommodate small families. Plus, being a pet-friendly hotel, Mountain Modern is ready to welcome your entire family, four-legged friends included. In-room amenities include dog beds, water bowls, and toys, while a full-acre private outdoor park is free to use for playtime with your pup.
Touting itself as the 'ultimate adventure basecamp,' Mountain Modern is a perfect jumping-off point to explore everything Sedona. It's located smack-dab in the middle of the city, where guests can easily access tons of hiking and mountain biking trailheads that lead to some of the most jaw-dropping vistas in the entire country. The city's top restaurants, art galleries, and outdoor activities can also be reached from the hotel by car in less than 15 minutes. Even better, the most exclusive Jeep tour in Sedona, Pink Jeep Tours, is right down the road from the hotel. The tour granted us exclusive access to the Broken Arrow Trail, known as Sedona's most thrilling off-roading experience. We made our way down the trail, we toppled over red rock formations, making pit stops to admire the 360-degree views of Sedona's natural beauty.

Mountain Modern Sedona does not have a loyalty program, but the hotel is offering a 30-percent-off discount until the end of August 2025. Nightly rateys start from $229.
Every T+L hotel review is written by an editor or reporter who has stayed at the property, and each hotel selected aligns with our core values.

Jalen Hurts to release children's book "Better Than a Touchdown" in March 2026
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is a man of many titles. Super Bowl champion. Super Bowl LIX MVP. Philadelphia Citizen of the Year. One of TIME's 100 Most Influential People. Now, a published author. Hurts announced Monday the release of his first children's book, "Better Than a Touchdown," with a March 10, 2026, release date. The book is available for preorder from Penguin Random House. In a video posted on Instagram, Hurts said publishing a children's book has always been a dream of his. "I'm very excited to share this moment with you guys. It's always been a dream of mine to have my own children's book, and I'm blessed to say that dream has become a reality with 'Better than a Touchdown,'" Hurts said. "It's a lot of hard work, a lot of love put into this book. It's very heartfelt because without the lessons learned, I wouldn't be here where I am today. So I'm excited to extend those lessons to the next generation, and hopefully it helps lift them just as the many lessons I learned did the same for me." "Better Than a Touchdown" tells the story of Jalen and his friends, who are excited to begin the school year and try out for the football team, only to discover that the program has been cut. Jalen doesn't get discouraged and turns to the community to help save the program. "'Better than a Touchdown' is a love letter to the power of community, being there for one another, and how a piece of good advice can change the course of a day," the book's description reads on Penguin Random House. "Told with Jalen's signature wisdom and gorgeous art by Nneka Myers, Better than a Touchdown carries a message we can all learn from: that by working together, there's nothing we can't accomplish." Hurts joins Eagles legends Brian Westbrook ("The Mouse Who Played Football") and Brandon Graham ("BG's ABCs: Tackling Football and Life") to publish children's books.

Beyond Yoga Opens Flagship Greenwich Store With Luxe Design And Full Lifestyle Assortment
Exterior of Beyond Yoga Greenwich Beyond Yoga is one of the hottest activewear fashion brands right now. Like many companies, they're focused not just on expanding their retail footprint but on creating chic, experiential places to shop. This is especially true of the brand's eighth location—and its first on the East Coast—in Greenwich, Connecticut. Located at 197 Greenwich Avenue, the store was designed under the creative direction of the brand's CEO, Nancy Green. She played an integral role in shaping the vision of the space to reflect Beyond Yoga's core principles: comfort, authenticity, warmth, and connection. The rest was a collaboration between the Beyond Yoga store team, led by Vice President of Retail Danielle Zingler, and design firm Bednark. Welcome To Greenwich Curved lines abound at Beyond Yoga Beyond Yoga currently has several stores in California, as well as Seattle and Chicago, but this location truly stands out. 'This is our largest store to date and features our most comprehensive assortment—spanning women's, maternity, and men's. It also introduces a distinct opportunity to merchandise into color and various active lifestyle concepts, including dedicated spaces for activewear, court sport collections, as well as travel and lifestyle products,' says Green. While Manhattan might be the first place one would assume there would be a store opening, the executive reveals that Connecticut made more sense. 'We look at both data and cultural fit when choosing a location. Greenwich has long been one of our top-performing e-commerce markets, and we saw an opportunity to deepen our relationship with that community. When the right space became available, it felt like the perfect moment.' This large store features Beyond Yoga's full assortment—women's, maternity, and men's. With six distinct shop-in-shop concepts and five spacious fitting rooms, it's an ideal place to shop for everything from active to lounge wear and casual clothes. Beyond Design Curved lines contrast the shiplap. With a organic modern aesthetic and lots of curved lines, Green describes the store as elevated yet grounded. 'It's warm, inviting, and inspired by the active lifestyle of our community. We used natural materials and soft, curved shapes to reflect the ease and fluidity that's core to both our product and our philosophy.' Her goal was to ensure the space reflected the full lifestyle expression of the brand—not just a place to shop, but a destination that embodies Beyond Yoga's values. 'We wanted the space to feel like an extension of the Beyond Yoga brand—open, calming, and rooted in comfort. We blended natural materials with preserved historical details and soft, curved architectural shapes to create a space that is welcoming and showcases our product. The fitting room experience was equally important to create a comfortable space with our unique service.' A mix of old and new—the social media–worthy logo wall is a fresh addition, just steps from the original store windows. A sign of style One of the most unique features is the shiplapped walls. This not only gives the store a cleaner aesthetic but also allows for easier merchandising. This is different from the current store concept and gives the space a richer feel overall. Green also reveals that curved lines were central to the design. 'They represent softness, comfort, and movement, which is how we want our clothing to feel. They also help create a natural flow through the space and encourage a sense of ease.' With curved display tables and a round logo wall, the shop feels calm and relaxing. The Patio One of the best features of this space is the patio. This space will be home to community events during the warmer weather months. Plans include wellness classes, brand collaborations, and charitable shopping events that give back to the Greenwich community. Green tells me, 'Community is at the heart of Beyond want our stores to be more than just places to shop; they're places to connect.'

Good News: Two of Apple TV+'s Most Slept-On Sci-Fi Shows Have Hopeful Plans for More
If you're a sci-fi fan, you really must check out Apple TV+—streaming home of so many of the best genre shows right now. Two standouts happen to have the same executive producer among their credits: David S. Goyer, who's part of team Murderbot as well as team Foundation. Murderbot's first season wraps up July 11, the same day Foundation returns for its third season. Neither show has been renewed beyond that, but to hear Goyer tell it, the future is looking bright. 'I don't want to give away too much, but I will say that moving from season season to season four is the first time we do not jump forward centuries,' Goyer said of Foundation. (The show's third season does indeed pick up 152 years after season two, as the season two finale had promised.) 'So in a way, one might think of season three and season four as one sort of 20-episode season.' That's exciting for fans of the Asimov adaptation to contemplate, as is his tease of season three, which builds out what fans have seen in the teaser and trailer so far: the story's big bad, the Mule (played by Game of Thrones' Pilou Asbæk), will play a major part this time around. 'I had always said, 'The Mule is season three. We have to earn the Mule,'' Goyer said. 'The reason why the Mule is so effective in the books is because it comes midway through the second novel, and you have to sort of set up the Foundation and set up the ways that its psychohistory seems to be kind of infallible and then the Mule is something that turns everything—the Mule doesn't work unless you've seen the Foundation succeed a number of times.' As for the future of Murderbot—which is based on Martha Wells' Murderbot Diaries book series—Goyer is similarly optimistic, echoing what series creators Chris and Paul Weitz told io9 ahead of the season premiere about its potential longevity, while pointing out the show has a surprisingly broad appeal. 'We've hit our Byzantine-metric threshold and I think it has performed well enough that there will be another season. It's not guaranteed, but I believe that to be the case,' Goyer said. 'And the response, critically, I think, could not have gone better. And what we're really interested in is, we knew we would get the sci-fi people in and the fans of the books, but we're just interested in sort of branching out beyond people that typically don't consider themselves fans of science fiction. Like my wife loves it, and she's not a science fiction fan. And so that's the audience that we're going for and we're hoping that that will continue.' Want more io9 news? Check out when to expect the latest Marvel, Star Wars, and Star Trek releases, what's next for the DC Universe on film and TV, and everything you need to know about the future of Doctor Who.
