Live updates: Israeli ministers sanctioned by UK and other countries over West Bank incitement
International pressure has increased again on Israel. Britain, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Norway say they have imposed sanctions on two far-right Israeli government ministers for allegedly 'inciting extremist violence' against Palestinians in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich face asset freezes and travel bans. They are champions of expanding Israeli settlements in the West Bank. Settler violence there has spiked since the start of the war in Gaza , where the ministers have been the most vocal in support of hardline policies.

'Boston, Newton, and Brookline Police as well as the Boston Regional Intelligence Center have primary jurisdiction in this matter,' the state police spokesperson said in an email Friday night. Consulate officials said 'this deplorable act is especially concerning in light of recent horrific incidents where anti-Israel incitement has escalated into antisemitism, hate crimes, and acts of violence and terror, including right here in our region,' according to the statement. James Carville Calls Out Fox News On Live TV For Playing Into This 'Giant Lie'
James Carville on Friday took on Fox News after host Martha MacCallum tried to push back at his criticism of President Donald Trump as he weighs U.S. military action against Iran amid Israel's war on the country. The longtime Democratic strategist, when asked about Trump's decision-making in a live Fox News appearance, reminded MacCallum of the network's history covering the lead-up to the U.S. invasion of Iraq (and the resulting war). 'I'm old enough to remember 2002 when this network and everybody else was beating war drums as loud as you could beat war drums, that there was every evidence of weapons of mass destruction. Of course, it turned out to be a giant lie,' he said of the Bush administration's pretext for the invasion. MacCallum interjected, 'You think this is like that?' Carville chimed back in, 'I don't know but I do know the government lied to me profoundly 22 years ago, that I do know, why would I trust this government more than I trust —.' MacCallum pointed to a clip she played earlier of David Albright, a nuclear weapons expert, who argued that there's not a sort of 'redux' of the Iraq War claims when it comes to the Iranian nuclear program. Carville jumped back in, 'Again, you are free to beat the war drums as loud as you want to —.' MacCallum replied, 'I'm not beating any war drums, I'm just reporting the facts.' Another panelist, OutKick founder Clay Travis, hopped into the crosstalk before Carville hit back. 'Excuse me for speaking while you're interrupting me,' Carville said. He later continued by noting that Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard testified to the Senate in March that Iran wasn't building a nuclear weapon, a comment that Trump has since dismissed. 'I think that he needs to take his time, they need to assess it and they need to give us a very clear rationale for why this step is necessary to start a war with 92 million people, that's all I'm saying,' added Carville of Trump, who has stressed that Iran is a matter of weeks away from completing a nuclear weapon. 'And that country has 92 million people, half have a college degree, half of those are women and I just don't think it's a good idea to rush headlong into a war. I'm sorry. I was skeptical in 2002 and I'm skeptical in 2025.' S.F. ‘emergency protest' condemns ICE raids, U.S. support for Israel
Hundreds of people protested the prospect of a U.S. war with Iran and voiced support for immigrants in the U.S. and Palestinians in Gaza during a rally Friday evening outside the federal building in San Francisco's South of Market. The protest outside the Speaker Nancy Pelosi Federal Building, which drew about 200 people at its peak, was organized by a coalition of activist groups, including Bay Resistance, the Answer Coalition and the Bay Area chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations. The escalating tensions between Israel and Iran were a major focus of Friday's protest. President Trump said Thursday he will decide within two weeks whether the U.S. military will strike back at Tehran. Tensions initially soared last Friday with a surprise wave of Israeli airstrikes targeting Iran's nuclear and military sites, military leaders and nuclear scientists. 'As the U.S. escalates aggression on Iran — backing Israeli strikes and pushing for war — it exposes its imperialist playbook: defend Zionism, crush resistance. From Gaza to Tehran, the U.S. fuels war and genocide to maintain control,' organizers said in promoting the event, billed as an 'emergency protest.' The protest featured several speakers and closed the block around the federal building at Seventh and Mission streets, with many protesters chanting, 'Free, free Palestine.' Bay Area protests against Israel's war with Hamas have cooled in recent months, though activists have found new energy since Trump retook office in January. Last Saturday's No Kings Day protests drew tens of thousands of people to events in dozens of Bay Area cities decrying Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids nationwide. Weeks earlier, demonstrations against Tesla CEO Elon Musk drew huge crowds to the vehicle's showrooms across the Bay Area condemning the onetime Trump ally, whose relationship with the president has cooled in recent weeks. 'At home, the war continues through ICE raids, family separations, and repression of migrants — all part of the same violent system,' the organizers said. 'We reject this imperialist war machine and stand with all people resisting Zionism and U.S. domination.'
