Dubai AI Week 2025 to Host 10,000+ AI Experts
Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) has announced the official agenda for the inaugural Dubai AI Week, taking place from April 21 to 25, 2025. The event is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of DFF.
Organised by the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence and overseen by DFF, the global event will host AI pioneers, decision-makers, and industry experts from over 100 countries. The goal is to foster collaboration and highlight the growing role of AI in government, business, and society.
Dubai AI Week is a major milestone in the UAE's strategy to lead the global AI agenda. It will feature flagship initiatives, immersive experiences, and key collaborations across the public and private sectors.
Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Vice Chairman of DFF, said Dubai is now a leading global hub for AI innovation. He credited this progress to the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and continued support from H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed.
He stated that Dubai AI Week reflects the country's commitment to using innovation to solve real-world challenges. The event will bring together global minds to create scalable solutions for future-readiness and social progress.
The agenda includes more than 150 sessions, 140 activations, and 180 speakers. Over 10,000 participants are expected to attend. Events will take place citywide, including high-level summits, hackathons, exhibitions, and competitions.
Dubai AI Week will host major tech companies like Google, Microsoft, Meta, IBM, Gartner, and Swift. It will also welcome country delegations from the US, South Korea, India, Canada, Australia, the UK, Italy, and Germany.
Strategic partners include Digital Dubai Authority, DEWA, the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, and the UAE AI Office. Key global players such as OpenAI, Nvidia, Palantir, Cohere, and ElevenLabs are also involved.
On April 21, the invite-only AI Retreat at the Museum of the Future will gather over 100 global tech leaders. Topics will include AI governance, infrastructure, investment, and talent development.
From April 21–25, the Dubai Assembly for AI at AREA 2071 will host 2,500 leaders and executives. It will feature 25 sessions and AI showcases by top companies.
The Global Prompt Engineering Championship will take place from April 22–23 at AREA 2071. Twenty-four finalists, selected from 3,800 global applicants, will compete for AED 1 million across Art, Gaming, Coding, and Video categories.
The Dubai AI Festival on April 23–24 at Madinat Jumeirah will welcome 8,000 experts, 500 investors, and 100 exhibitors. Organised by Dubai AI Campus, DIFC, and the UAE AI Office, the event will focus on partnerships and emerging tech.
The Machines Can See Summit, running April 23–24 at the Museum of the Future and AREA 2071, will explore AI's impact on industries and society. It will feature keynotes, workshops, and an expo zone.
From April 22–24, the 8th International Conference on Education Quality will take place at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. Organised by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai, it will explore AI in education and public service.
The HIMSS Executive Summit on April 23 at Emirates Towers Hotel will discuss generative AI in healthcare, genomics, and precision medicine.
The Dubai AI Week Hackathon, scheduled for April 25 at AREA 2071, is co-hosted by DFF and Hackmasters. Participants will build AI agents to solve real-world problems.
AI Week in Schools will run from April 21–25 in collaboration with KHDA. It aims to introduce students to AI applications and inspire future innovators.

Apple executives held internal talks about buying Perplexity: Reports
Apple executives have held internal talks about potentially bidding for artificial intelligence startup Perplexity, Bloomberg News reported on Friday, citing people with knowledge of the matter. The discussions are at an early stage and may not lead to an offer, the report said, adding that the tech behemoth's executives have not discussed a bid with Perplexity's management. "We have no knowledge of any current or future MA discussions involving Perplexity," Perplexity said in response to a Reuters' request for comment. Apple did not immediately respond to a Reuters' request for comment. Big tech companies are doubling down on investments to enhance AI capabilities and support growing demand for AI-powered services to maintain competitive leadership in the rapidly evolving tech landscape. Bloomberg News also reported on Friday that Meta Platforms tried to buy Perplexity earlier this year. Meta announced a $14.8 billion investment in Scale AI last week and hired Scale AI CEO Alexandr Wang to lead its new superintelligence unit. Adrian Perica, Apple's head of mergers and acquisitions, has weighed the idea with services chief Eddy Cue and top AI decision-makers, as per the report. The iPhone maker reportedly plans to integrate AI-driven search capabilities, such as Perplexity AI, into its Safari browser, potentially moving away from its longstanding partnership with Alphabet's Google. Banning Google from paying companies to make it their default search engine is one of the remedies proposed by the US Department of Justice to break up its dominance in online search. While traditional search engines such as Google still dominate global market share, AI-powered search options including Perplexity and ChatGPT are gaining prominence and seeing rising user adoption, especially among younger generations. Perplexity recently completed a funding round that valued it at $14 billion, Bloomberg News reported. A deal close to that would be Apple's largest acquisition so far. The Nvidia-backed startup provides AI search tools that deliver information summaries to users, similar to OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini.

University of Dubai and AIJRF launch the first Arab initiative in academic research and AI technologies
The University of Dubai, in collaboration with the Artificial Intelligence Journalism for Research and Forecasting (AIJRF), has officially launched a groundbreaking Arab initiative titled 'Arab AI Researchers (AAIR)'. This is the first initiative of its kind in the region and comes as part of the Arab Index for Artificial Intelligence in Universities (AIU), which was first announced last year at the University of Dubai. A Regional Step Forward in Academic Innovation His Excellency Dr. Eesa Al Bastaki, President of the University of Dubai, emphasized that this initiative is aligned with the key recommendations announced at the conclusion of the 5th edition of the Artificial Intelligence Journalism World Forum (AIJWF), particularly those drawn from the inaugural report of the Arab Index for Artificial Intelligence in Universities (AIU). The findings underscored the urgent need to integrate AI tools and technologies into both Academic Research and teaching practices across Arab universities. Dr. Al Bastaki stated: 'The current initiative, 'Arab AI Researchers (AAIR),' aims to enhance the skills of Arab researchers and academics in embedding AI technologies and tools into teaching methods, curricula, and academic research. It promotes the optimal use of artificial intelligence in higher education across all academic levels, from undergraduate to postgraduate.' Fostering a Widespread Educational Transformation His Excellency Dr. Saeed Al Dhaheri, Director of the Center for Futures Studies at the University of Dubai and the president of the Arab Index for Artificial Intelligence in Universities (AIU), highlighted the importance of this initiative in reaching a wide audience of researchers.
