Argument by drunk vendor led to mall murder, 2 held
Gurgaon: An unprovoked argument started by a drunk paan shop owner spiraled into the mall shooting that led to the murder of a tractor driver on Thursday morning, police said.
Waseem (24), a tractor driver, was stopped from entering the ILD Mall in Sector 47 along Sohna Road by Manoj, who runs a paan shop in the complex.
Police said on Friday that Waseem was heading inside the mall with his brother and a labourer to pick up construction debris from an area that was being renovated.
"Manoj had just closed his shop and was intoxicated. Without any provocation, Manoj screamed at Waseem and stopped the group at the mall's gate. When Waseem confronted Manoj, the shop owner started filming him on his phone. Waseem told him not to, and an argument ensued," a police officer said on Friday.
Waseem and the labourer managed to go inside the mall regardless. This allegedly enraged Manoj, who called his associate Deepak to the mall.
TOI reported on Friday that Deepak came to the mall soon after in his Scorpio, along with a staffer – Aarif (23). He was carrying a licensed pistol. Another confrontation erupted at the spot where Waseem and the labourer were working, and Deepak shot Waseem in the stomach. Police said Deepak was arrested from Bhondsi area of the city on Thursday, and Aarif was nabbed on Friday.
Manoj is still on the run.
"We have also recovered the Scorpio car. We will soon nab the other accused in the case," ASI Sandeep Kumar, Gurgaon police spokesperson, said.

In a separate case, special Pocso judge Ghanendra Kumar sentenced Mohd Qasim Ali, 46, to 15 years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy in Moradabad. The convict was also fined Rs 60,000 and taken into judicial custody immediately after the court order. Additional district govt counsel Manoj Gupta said, "The incident occurred on Sept 9, 2017, when the boy was in his school where the convict was appointed as judo coach. Mohd Qasim took the boy to the forest on the pretext of judo training, where he forcefully sodomised him. The boy narrated his ordeal to his family upon returning home." Gupta added, "The submitted medical examination report to the court confirmed the assault. Additionally, the statement of the survivor and the circumstantial evidence helped in nailing the accused." The chargesheet was submitted in court, and the judge expedited the trial.

Man, son from Guntur accused of duping city Pune firm's CEO of 4 crore
1 2 3 Pune: The Bavdhan police on Saturday registered a case against a man and his son, hailing from Guntur in Andhra Pradesh, on charges of duping a 33-year-old CEO of an industrial automation and robotics company in the city of Rs3.98 crore. The victim was lured by the promise of high returns on his investments in the share market. Inspector Bhaskar Kadam of the Bavdhan police told TOI, "According to the complainant, the father-son duo were family friends. Initially, they returned Rs1 crore to him and gained his confidence. The duo then duped him by not returning Rs3.98 crore." The economic offences wing (EOW) of Pimpri Chinchwad police is investigating the case. Kadam said that according to the complainant, the duo hail from Guntur district. The complainant's mother and older suspect (father) used to teach together at a college in Nanded district. Their families have known each other since then. "The complainant stated that in Jan 2023, the man contacted them and said he and his son started a financial services firm in Andhra Pradesh. He assured them of good returns on their investments in the stock market through the firm," Kadam said. The officer said the complainant believed them and decided to invest money in stocks through them. Between Jan 2023 and July 2024, the complainant transferred Rs4.98 crore to the suspects to invest in stocks. The complainant did not suspect anything as initially, the duo returned Rs1 crore to him. "The duo used to share details of the investments through fake email IDs posing as a prominent securities and trading firm," the officer said. Kadam said the duo even sent a contact note (record of all transactions through stock brokers on the stock exchange) to the complainant, which later turned out to be fake. When the victim realised that he was being duped, he started asking them to return the money. When he did not get his money back, he approached the police and lodged a complaint. Gym trainer held for harassing resident doctor in Barmer
Jaisalmer: A gym trainer was arrested Saturday in Barmer following a complaint by a resident doctor for blackmailing and sending obscene messages to her. The man identified as Jitendra (32), would even send messages to people where her engagement was being discussed. She expressed that she did not want to communicate or have any relationship with him, but he refused to understand and called her frequently. The doctor had met Jitendra while studying in Kota and he had been harassing her since then. After she moved to Barmer, he visited her here several times. He had even blackmailed the doctor and forced her to transfer Rs 20,000 online.
