Ascot Eyecatcher will not be an Understudy for long
Beaten three and a quarter lengths by the far more experienced Garden Of Eden, Understudy proved she was underestimated when a 40-1 chance under Robert Havlin.
The run was only her third racecourse start and a big leap up in class, pointing to plenty more to come from the flashy chestnut daughter of Sea The Stars.

Trawlerman: fastest Ascot Gold Cup is greatest moment of his career
There have been many ways to win the Ascot Gold Cup but none more glorious than what Trawlerman did here. It was one of the hottest of days and at 4min 15.02sec this was to be the fastest Ascot Gold Cup run. It was achieved, like all great athletic events, by setting a relentlessly consistent pace. On the big screen we could see the numbers clocking up — 35.74mph, 36.03, 35.89. Trawlerman's stable companion, Sweet William, was at his girth, Ballydoyle's Illinois poised behind him, followed by the outsider Wonder Legend and the much-fancied French horse Candelari in touch with the other three detached. On the gallop went. When would it begin to hurt? Jockeys arms are always the telegraph. Sweeping up towards the final turn, Robert Havlin's elbows began to move. He wasn't going to hold it on Sweet William. But on Illinois, Ryan Moore was still poised and deadly. He had already stormed home for Aidan O'Brien on the powerhouse two-year-old Charles Darwin in the Norfolk Stakes and the improving filly Garden Of Eden in the Ribblesdale. Illinois may have been substituting for the now-retired Kyprios but he is a talent. He was second in the St Leger and had been very impressive at Chester six weeks ago.
