Iran's centrifuge production sites hit by Israeli strikes, IAEA confirms

Tehran: The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed that two Iranian centrifuge production facilities, TESA Karaj workshop and Tehran Research Centre, were hit in recent strikes.
"The IAEA has information that two centrifuge production facilities in Iran, the TESA Karaj workshop and the Tehran Research Centre, were hit. Both sites were previously under IAEA monitoring and verification as part of the JCPOA," IAEA wrote on X.
"At the Tehran site, one building was hit where advanced centrifuge rotors were manufactured and tested. At Karaj, two buildings were destroyed where different centrifuge components were manufactured," IAEA added om X.
The Embassy of Iran in India on Wednesday shared a statement made by the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), where he said that they (IAEA) did not have any proof that Iran is going to make nuclear weapons.
In a post on X, the Embassy said, "Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, admits that Iran was not going to make a nuclear weapon. "What we reported was that we did not have any proof of a systematic effort (by Iran) to move toward a nuclear weapon. "
In the interview, Director General Grossi answering the question on nuclear weapons in Iran said, "What we informed and what we reported was that we did not have, as in coincidence with some of the sources you mentioned there, that we did not have any proof of a systematic effort to move into a nuclear weapon."
According to a previous report by the Times of Israel citing Hebrew media, it was reported on Sunday that Israel discovered that Iranian scientists had conducted successful experiments in the design process of a nuclear weapon, bringing it weeks away from being able to produce a bomb.
Times of Israel reported that this "golden information" was presented by intelligence officials to the political leadership before the decision was made to carry out preemptive strikes on Friday, along with the concern that Israel didn't know everything and that Tehran could be at an even more advanced stage in building a nuclear bomb than the available information showed, Army Radio reported, citing unnamed security officials.
Meawhile, the US State Department on Tuesday (local time) reaffirmed the Trump administration's stance on Iran's nuclear programme, emphasising that "Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon," amid escalating tensions between Iran and Israel.

India to evacuate citizens of Nepal, Sri Lanka from Iran

Tehran: The Indian Embassy in Iran has said that the embassy will make efforts to evacuate citizens of Nepal and Sri Lanka. The embassy noted that the efforts will be made at the request of the Governments of Nepal and Sri Lanka. "On request of the Governments of Nepal and Sri Lanka, the Indian Embassy's evacuation efforts in Iran will also cover Citizens of Nepal and Sri Lanka," the Indian Embassy in Iran posted on X. The Indian government has launched Operation Sindhu to evacuate Indian nationals from Iran, given the deteriorating situation as a result of the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel. Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on Saturday that, so far, 517 Indian nationals have returned to India from Iran under Operation Sindhu. Jaiswal stated that a special flight from Turkmenistan's Ashgabat carrying Indians from Iran arrived in New Delhi on June 21. In a post on X, Jaiswal stated, "Operation Sindhu continues. A special evacuation flight from Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, landed in New Delhi at 0300 hrs on 21st June, bringing Indians from Iran home. Operation Ganga was launched by the Indian government in 2022 to evacuate Indian nationals when war erupted between Russia and Ukraine. Earlier in 2021, Indian government launched Operation Devi Shakti to evacuate Indian citizens from Afghanistan after Taliban takeover. India launched Operation Samudra Seta to evacuate Indians through sea during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. India launched Operation Raahat to evacuate citizens after civil conflict erupted in Yemen in 2015. Earlier in 2011, India launched Operation Safe Homecoming to evacuate Indian nationals during civil war in Arab Spring in Libya.

Oman condemns Israeli attacks on Iranian territory

Istanbul: The Sultanate of Oman participated on Saturday in the extraordinary meeting of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level in Istanbul. The Sultanate of Oman's delegation was headed by Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Diplomatic Affairs. The meeting affirmed its condemnation of the Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, which constitutes a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of a UN member state and a threat to regional peace and security. He also stressed the need to halt this aggression and intensify regional and international efforts to reduce tensions and achieve a ceasefire and comprehensive calm.
