Rep. Ryan Rose Announces Re-Election Campaign for Arkansas House District 48
Van Buren, AR May 21, 2025 --( PR.com )-- State Representative Ryan Rose (R – Van Buren/Ft. Smith) officially announced his candidacy for re-election Wednesday, seeking a third term representing Arkansas House District 48.
'From day one, I've been committed to fighting for the families, values, and future of the River Valley and all of Arkansas,' said Rep. Ryan Rose. 'I've worked to cut taxes, protect the unborn, advance education freedom, and deliver conservative healthcare reforms that save lives. I've been a bold voice for faith, family, and freedom in every committee, every floor debate, and every policy discussion. We've made major strides, but our work is far from done. That's why I'm running for re-election, to continue delivering real results and building a safer, stronger, and more prosperous Arkansas.'
Rep. Rose was the lead house sponsor on 15 key pieces of legislation this session and he co-sponsored an additional 27 new laws. Some of his accomplishments from the 95th Legislative Session include:
· Protecting Lives and Health: Authored HB1309 and HB1859 for early cancer detection and comprehensive reconstructive coverage, inspired by his wife Tiffany's battle with breast cancer. Rep. Rose also maintained a 100% pro-life voting record, vigorously defending the lives of the unborn.
· Combating Human Trafficking: Led a multi-agency working group and passage of landmark legislation SB428 and SB430 to ensure justice and restitution for survivors of human trafficking.
· Cutting Taxes and Government Efficiency: Co-sponsored legislation repealing the state grocery tax, increased the Homestead Property Tax Credit and championed measures eliminating bureaucratic waste.
· Higher Ed & Education Freedom: Co-sponsored Arkansas ACCESS, which reforms higher education by enhancing academic readiness, streamlining admissions, expanding scholarships, and standardizing credits to better serve students and families. Continued the fight for education freedom and defending parental rights.

Olcott announces reelection bid
State Rep. Mike Olcott, R-Aledo, announced his intent for reelection this week. Olcott, who defeated Glenn Rogers in the 2024 MarchGOP primary, lauded his first legislative session of 'hard-fought wins for conservatives' and battles still on the horizon. Mayor Adams to hold reelection kickoff event, aide misuses city email account to advertise it
NEW YORK — Mayor Eric Adams is hosting a kickoff event for his reelection campaign this coming week — and an aide in his office violated city rules by using his government email account to advertise the gathering, the Daily News has learned. The 'special campaign announcement' is set to take place Thursday morning on the steps of City Hall, per a poster the aide, Grant Yanney, sent to a list of dozens of city government colleagues and others, according to a source who provided The News with a copy of the message. 'MEA needs our support! Save this image and blast out to your folks via text and Gmail,' Yanney, a director in Adams' office of talent and workforce development, wrote in the Saturday message, using his City Hall email account. 'Special note: If you can take an early lunch, please save the date and make plans to join Mayor Adams on City Hall steps.' The poster Yanney attached to the message says it was produced by Adams' campaign and includes the phrase 'Reelect Eric for mayor. Delivers. Never quits,' a new slogan for his reelection bid. 'Join us for a 'special' campaign announcement with Eric Adams for 2025,' the poster says. 'RSVP to be part of this exciting event. Let's work together towards a bright tomorrow.' Under local law, municipal employees like Yanney cannot use 'any city resources,' including email accounts, for 'any political activity,' according to the city Conflicts of Interest Board. The board in 2007 fined a city public school principal $5,000 for sending a letter to parents of her students urging them to support an elected official's reelection. COIB Executive Director Carolyn Miller wouldn't comment on Yanney's situation due to the panel's confidential enforcement process. Miller did confirm 'public servants are prohibited from using City resources, including City email accounts, for any campaign-related activity.' Yanney, who has worked for Adams since joining his Brooklyn borough president's office in 2021, acknowledged he shouldn't have sent the message from his city government account, calling it an 'honest mistake.' 'I accidentally sent the email from my work account instead of my personal Gmail,' he wrote in an email to The News, adding he was multitasking at the time, dealing with personal matters. Additional details about Thursday's campaign kickoff event weren't immediately available. Reps for Adams' office and campaign didn't immediately return requests for comment.

Filing for city elections has opened
Filing to run for a position on Huntsville City Council opened on Thursday, June 19. There are five positions up for election, including the Mayor and all four ward positions. The November 4, 2025 election is a Constitutional Amendment Election. Terms for election are for three year terms following the charter changes of 2023. 2025 Candidate packet Current Mayor Russell Humphrey announced his reelection campaign during a meet and greet held June 5th at Humphrey's Bar and Grill. The sitting ward members are Councilmember Ward 1 Tore Fossum, Councilmember Ward 2 Casey Cox, Councilmember Ward 3 Anissa Antwine, and Councilmember Ward 4 Jon Strong. Antwine announced her run for reelection on Saturday, June 14, during her Juneteenth address at the MLK Community Center. Strong confirmed he too will be seeking reelection. 'There is still important work to do to change the tree ordinance to preserve more of the east Texas forest. There is a tree ordinance passed in 2021, but it appears to be ineffective,' said Fossum, when he confirmed his campaign Friday. 'Further, the most important functions the city does are the clean safe drinking water and safely disposing of the sewage. Much of the infrastructure is decades old and deteriorating. The drainage comes next and that is a difficult topic because we can go years or decades between destructive heavy rain events as we saw in October of 2023 and May of 2024. Many of those who had water intrusion for the first time could protect their houses with swales and berms. However, the city does not pay for that. Clear cutting on higher land contributed to that at Elkins Lake.' Cox had no response as of press time Friday afternoon. Running for City Council To qualify as a candidate for city council, there are several requirements: — At the time of election to office and during their tenure of office, the Mayor and each member of the Council shall be a citizen and a qualified registered voter of the State of Texas and the City of Huntsville. — Be at least 21 years of age on the date of the election. — Be a resident of the City for at least 12 months preceding the election. — Resided continuously in the state of Texas for 12 months preceding the date of the regular filing deadline for a candidate's application for a place on the ballot. — If running for a specific Ward, the candidate must be a resident of that Ward. — No member of the Council shall be indebted to the City or be delinquent in the payment to the City of any tax or assessment. — No member of the Council shall hold any other office or employment under the City government. — Be a citizen of the United States. — Have not been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote; and — Have not been finally convicted of a felony from which the candidate has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities. Candidates are also subject to the requirements of the State's nepotism law, conflicts of interest law, and the loyalty clause. According to the city's election page, a member of the council ceasing to possess any of the qualifications will immediately forfeit their office. To be eligible as a candidate for councilmember from a specific ward, a person must be a resident of such ward.
