Lorraine Kelly 'to miss BAFTA TV Awards' after undergoing 'preventative' surgery

TV favourite Lorraine Kelly will be noticeably absent from this year's BAFTA Television Awards after undergoing surgery.
Honoured with a special award at last year's ceremony, the 65-year-old presenter won't make an appearance on Sunday (May 11) night's event, The Sun reports.
She is recuperating from "preventative" surgery that involved removing her ovaries and fallopian tubes.
An insider disclosed to the publication: "She's been through a lot with her recent health scare and is quite rightly taking some time out to properly recover.
"Lorraine is already missed by the ITV team and will be desperate to get back to the day job.", reports the Daily Record.

According to sources, there's no confirmed date for Lorraine's return to the helm of her namesake ITV breakfast programme, as she's still in the early stages of her recovery period.
Last year, Lorraine celebrated an impressive milestone of 40 years on television since her start as a Scotland reporter for TV-am in 1984.
Reflecting on the past four decades, she expressed last year: "It's been quite the year - 2024 has been so very special.
"Obviously the most magical thing that has happened is the birth of baby Billie who is an absolute angel.

"I am completely besotted, and I'm so proud of my daughter Rosie and her fiancé Steve White.
"They are incredible parents and baby Billie is surrounded by love from all their family and friends."
Lorraine, who has been at the helm of her own ITV morning chat show since 2010, shared: "The BAFTA award was of course another highlight, made even more special as it was given to me by the legend Brian Cox."
She also celebrated her literary success, saying, "There was also the publication of my first novel The Island Swimmer which went to number two in the big grown up Sunday Times book chart."

Her stint on The Masked Singer was a joyous experience for her, as she revealed, "Appearing as an owl on The Masked Singer was one of the most enjoyable and happiest of experiences and I can't wait to show Billie when she is older."
Born in the Gorbals and raised in a tenement flat in Glasgow's Bridgeton from the age of two, Lorraine admits that breaking into TV with a Glasgow accent was challenging in the 1980s and believes it remains so today.

Although the niceties were short-lived as Mark replied: 'Right, that's the last compliment you'll get.' Sadly, John didn't make it back to the table as Mark caught him at the table during his round. In the end, it was Raj, Danielle and Roger in the final Chase as they were playing to win a staggering £120,000 after Roger decided to go for Mark's high offer. Getting a three-step headstart, the team managed to answer 11 questions correctly, setting a target of 14 for the chaser to try and beat. With two minutes on the clock, Mark managed to catch the team with 47 seconds left on the clock to spare. Speaking about their performance, the quizzer, who has been part of the ITV show for 16 years, said: 'I'm sorry guys, the way they broke, either I knew them, or they were so tough you didn't stand a prayer at pushing me back.' Meanwhile, host Bradley Walsh said: 'We missed John Conteh, of course, you needed a full house, and we needed a bigger score on our side of that run, but that's just the way it is.'
