ELLIE Simmonds was seen wiping away tears as she bravely listened to her birth mum reveal why she was put up for adoption.
The Paralympian gold medalist, 30, was put into care at two weeks old after being diagnosed with dwarfism.

When Ellie was just three months old, she was adopted by West Midlands couple Val and Steve Simmonds.
She only met her birth mother two years ago, after the swimmer explored her childhood in the 2023 documentary, Finding My Secret Family.
In a follow to the Bafta winning doc, last night viewers watched Ellie Simmonds: Should I Have Children?.
At the end of the powerful documentary brave Ellie chatted to her birth mother - who has remained anonymous - on the phone.
The Strictly Come Dancing star wanted to finally ask her why she gave her up for adoption.
Before she made the phone call, Ellie said to the camera: "In the two years since we've met, I haven't felt ready to talk to my birth mum about the reasons she placed me up for adoption."
Her birth mother was then heard for the first time on TV, as she didn't appear on the first documentary.
She then bravely talked about the impact of having Ellie adopted, and the devastating reason why she felt she had to make that decision.
Remaining off camera, she said: "It's really quite traumatic. It's hard for you to hear. I don't want to in any way upset you.
"You're making a decision at the wrong time of your life, because you've just given birth, your hormones are all over the place. You're physically not right, you're mentally not right."

Ellie's birth mum then revealed how after her daughter was diagnosed with dwarfism, cruel medics at the time said this would lead to ridicule
"I went to a geneticist and she was very abrupt," she recalled.
"She said, 'There you go, that's what your baby's going to look like.'
"I remember coming back thinking, 'I don't know, I can't cope with this.'
"It could have been explained in a nicer manner, because that was my life, you know, that was your life, that was us.
"I mean, maybe there was no answers they could have given me, or maybe I wanted a magic wand."
As she recalled this story for the first time, Ellie could be seen wiping away tears.
Her birth mum candidly revealed how she struggled to look beyond Ellie's disability and said she "grieved" for the child she wanted her to be.

"To give your biological child away… it was momentous," she explained.
"I just handed you over and that's something you really can never get over.
"The guilt is horrendous. You live with it all the time."
MEETING HER MUM
Ellie met her birth mum for the first time at the end of her 2023 documentary.
The reunion came after the Paralympian read an old letter handwritten by her mother in which she said she wished she'd had an abortion or that Ellie had died.
With a social worker acting as an intermediary, Ellie wrote to her mum explaining she wasn't angry and that she wanted to get to know her.
She sobbed as she read her mum's reply in which she said she had suffered with "guilt and self-hatred".

Ellie then went to meet her mum for the first time - but this wasn't filmed.
Afterwards she said: "It was amazing. We spoke about everything over the last five hours. We've got the same sense of humour we were laughing so much.
"I felt like her face was just like me. What touched my heart was that she thinks about me everyday and she always sees me as a daughter."

'AMAZING' LIFE
Despite tearful moments in both documentaries, Ellie maintains she has had an 'amazing life' and has never felt anger towards her biological mum.
She previously told us: 'I wouldn't be who I am today if my birth mother hadn't made that decision.
"I could be someone so different and not have had such a positive life, being around people with different disabilities and going to the Paralympics and having all the opportunities my parents gave me.'
Ellie's parents Val and Steve Simmonds adopted four other children, some of which also had disabilities.
At 11, Ellie moved with Val to Swansea to train with Team GB.
Two years later she became the youngest British athlete at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics, winning two swimming golds.

HUGE football star and manager 'to star on the upcoming season of Strictly Come Dancing'

Football icon Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is reportedly set to appear on the upcoming season of Strictly Come Dancing. The former Chelsea and Netherlands striker and ex-England coach, 53, is believed to have signed up to the BBC flagship show, according to The Sun. A source told the publication: 'Jimmy has a huge fanbase from his years playing in the Premier League and is a very likeable character. 'Show producers are always keen to book a retired footballer as it gets footie fans tuning into the series and becoming unlikely fans of the show. 'Jimmy has a competitive edge and is going to get his head in the game.' The father-of-four was a professional player with Leeds and Middlebrough for two decades before he retied in 2008. MailOnline has contacted representatives for Strictly Come Dancing for comment. The rumour comes weeks after Strictly bosses announced the professional lineup for this year's show and revealed there will be two brand new dancers joining. Dianne Buswell, who lifted the glitter ball in December with Chris McCausland, will be joining Nadiya Bychkova, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Gorka Marquez, Luba Mushtuk and Jowita Przystal in returning to the dance floor this September. They will be joined by Johannes Radebe, Aljaž Škorjanec, Nancy Xu, Lauren Oakley, Michelle Tsiakkas and Vito Coppola who will all take to the floor once more alongside two new stars, who will be announced closer to the time. Amy Dowden, who pulled out in the opening weeks of last year's show due to a foot injury, will also be back on Strictly for 2025, as will Carlos Gu and Kai Widdrington, who didn't have a celebrity partner last year. Despite rumours that he might be making a return after missing out on last year's series, Giovanni Pernice will not be heading back to the ballroom this time around. Following speculation surrounding whether she would axed from the long running series due to being in her 40s, Karen spoke about not being 'threatened' by younger competitors. Indeed, she said performing alongside new joiners makes her feel empowered and she is 'inspired' by the younger generation. Former Leeds United star Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is said to be swapping soccer for sequins as a contestant on the long-running BBC show. The 53-year-old Dutch sportsman stands to be the latest in a long line of football legends to take to the Strictly dancefloor. He would follow the likes of Robbie Savage, Alex Scott and Tony Adams to bid for Glitterball Trophy victory. ‌ The former striker was hired as a coach for the England national team in 2023, but stepped away from responsibilities in August last year following manager Gareth Southgate's exit last August. For years, there was the whole Strictly 'curse' where the contestants and professionals kept having affairs. But that stopped. "Changes were made to the partnerships and it worked. Going forward, those at the top want a wholesome image to shine through. No more scandal – just joy." Former Butlin's redcoat Stephen Mulhern has lost his lucrative £1m contract with the famous holiday firm. ITV star Stephen Mulhern has been dealt a huge career blow. The presenter has been dropped from his reported £1million gig as the face of Butlins, rounding off a spate of ill fortune with work commitments. Mulhern, 48, hasn't had his contract renewed with the famous family-friendly UK holiday resort chain. As part of the deal he performed magic shows on stage at the firm's centres in Minehead, Bognor Regis and Skegness, but he will not return after the summer season. ‌ A spokesperson confirmed the news and stated that the star, a former redcoat for the legendary firm, had 'enjoyed' his time working with the brand. ‌ The spokesperson told the Mirror: 'Stephen has absolutely loved being part of the Butlin's family - performing his stage shows in front of thousands of holiday makers across the country and the relationship with Butlin's remains hugely positive. "This change allows Stephen to explore new opportunities in the family holiday space – something he's incredibly passionate about." A Butlin's spokesperson added: "Stephen has been an incredible part of the Butlin's experience and continues to be a valued member of the family. Stephen's much-loved live show won't return in 2026 after three fantastic years, but we're thrilled to be working together on ongoing projects this autumn.' Stephen's Butlin's axe was revealed by the Sun, as a source told them: 'Stephen has been a massive hit with holidaymakers. He began his career as a Redcoat and has kept families brilliantly entertained.' The TV magician's role on ITV Dancing On Ice came to an end earlier this year when the show was cancelled. The reality ice skating competition was cancelled due to low ratings, after Stephen had joined Holly Willoughby to host in January. He replaced Phillip Schofield, who was booted from all of his ITV roles after his affair with a younger colleague at This Morning was revealed in 2023. And last year, Stephen's other TV show, In For A Penny, was cancelled after six seasons , though there have been hinted it will return. A source previously told The Sun: "So don't put your pennies away just yet as the team could be popping up in your local town, to challenge even more members of the public to take part in their unique and madcap games in the future." ‌ Stephen also suffered a traumatic time in his personal life last year when his dad passed away. Stephen paid tribute to his late father in a touching moment after his Royal Variety Performance act last December. As the audience applauded his magic tricks, he said: "That was for you dad."
