'While no suspects have been apprehended at this stage, the interdiction has laid the groundwork for an ongoing and broader investigation,' the PDEA said.
Authorities intercepted several parcels with snack boxes containing a total of 120 kilograms of shabu worth P816 million at a warehouse in Pasig City, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said Monday.
In a statement, the PDEA said the parcels came from multiple locations in California, USA, and were addressed to multiple consignees in Taguig, Pasig, and Makati in the Philippines.
These parcels were undeclared upon arrival.
'While no suspects have been apprehended at this stage, the interdiction has laid the groundwork for an ongoing and broader investigation,' the PDEA said.
All evidence has been forwarded to the PDEA Laboratory Service for confirmatory analysis as case documentation and legal procedures are underway.
'This interdiction success is a product of strong collaboration between PDEA and our law enforcement partners. Our presence in major airports, seaports, and cargo facilities is not just necessary—it is imperative,' PDEA director general Undersecretary Isagani R. Nerez said.
The anti-illegal drug agency called on the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious packages or drug-related activities through the Facebook page 'Isumbong Mo Sa PDEA' or the hotlines 0995-345-7020 and 0931-027-8212. –NB, GMA integrated News

More floating drug packages found off Northern Luzon

Authorities continue to find floating packs of suspected shabu worth millions of pesos off the coasts of several provinces in Northern Luzon. After earlier reports in Pangasinan, new discoveries were made as far as Ilocos Norte and Cagayan. In Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, a resident found a plastic-wrapped package containing suspected shabu worth nearly P7 million. The packaging matched previous finds in Paoay, Laoag, and Currimao, plastic covers marked with the word "Durian" and Chinese characters. In Claveria, Cagayan, two sacks were also spotted floating in the sea. Inside were packets of suspected shabu labeled as tea. Authorities are still investigating the origin and possible source of the illegal drugs. Meanwhile, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 1 stepped up community patrols along coastal areas in Pangasinan following the discovery of "floating shabu" worth millions of pesos in recent weeks. PDEA personnel visited several coastal barangays to thank residents for reporting the contraband immediately. The agency also held an information drive to explain the dangers of drug smuggling. They urged communities to stay alert and cooperate with authorities in future incidents.

P104.7M worth of floating shabu found in Cagayan waters — PDEA

Authorities have intercepted another wave of floating illegal drugs off the coast of Cagayan, with the latest haul of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, amounting to over P104.7 million in street value. According to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), a sack containing 15 plastic packs of suspected shabu—roughly 15 kilograms and valued at ?102 million—was discovered on June 16 between the territorial waters of Babuyan Island and Gonzaga, Cagayan. The following day, June 17, a separate 400-gram package of the same substance, worth ?2.72 million, was found floating between Camiguin Island and Cape Engaño in Barangay San Vicente, Sta. Ana, Cagayan. The illegal drugs were turned over to combined personnel from PDEA Regional Office II (RO 2) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Office 2 (PRO 2) by concerned local fisherfolk who found them at sea. 'The honest acts of fishermen, the prompt response and proper turnover of the floating contraband to authorities, and the steady sea surveillance and patrolling, are all part of a holistic approach to curb the flow of illegal drugs in the coastal areas of Cagayan Province,' said PDEA Director General and Undersecretary Isagani R. Nerez. "We do not want these dangerous substances to fall into the clutches of the wrong people.' Undersecretary Nerez highlighted the role of the PNP's 'Project: SPIES' — Strengthening Port Interdiction to Enhance Security — a security initiative led by the Cagayan Police Provincial Office under Police Brigadier General Antonio Marallag Jr. The project focuses on securing maritime borders and ports against drug trafficking. 'We cannot simply overlook the value of the contribution of Project: SPIES and its implementing police officers,' Nerez emphasized. 'In tandem with PDEA, they have provided much heightened vigilance and increased law enforcement efforts on the lookout for the remaining floating contraband.' So far, all floating drug recovery incidents have occurred in the waters of Luzon. Authorities believe the drugs were offloaded at sea and meant to be collected by designated recipients. 'An in-depth investigation is currently underway to determine the place of origin of the recovered shabu,' Nerez said, noting that ocean currents may have pushed the contraband into Philippine waters. Ilocos Norte In a related incident, a kilo of shabu worth ?6.8 million was found by a resident along the shoreline of Barangay Pasaleng in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte on June 17. The package was also turned over to local authorities. PDEA continues to appeal to the public for cooperation. "If and when you stumble upon any of the floating contraband, do not hesitate to report it to the authorities. Doing so will help shield our communities from the sinister ways of illegal drugs,' Nerez urged. The agency also reminded the public that possession of prohibited drugs, regardless of intention, is punishable under Philippine law. — Sherilyn Untalan/RSJ, GMA Integrated News

Jesus Crispin Remulla, @dojphofficial | via @VargasMannysen — DZBB Super Radyo (@dzbb) June 18, 2025 Once cancelled, he said the lawyer will be declared an undocumented alien and may be arrested by Interpol. 'Hihintayin natin. Pwede naman file-an ng extradition pagdatin ng panahon pero baka hindi na kailangan kasi kakanselahin naman ang passport niya. Kapag naging undocumented alien yan, pupwede nang kunin ng Interpol,' Remulla added. (We will wait for the results. We may file for extradition, but once his passport is cancelled, he will be an undocumented alien and may be arrested by Interpol.) Fake news? Roque, meanwhile, called out Remulla and described his statement as "fake news" "I am not surprised that the Marcos Jr. administration, through the Department of Justice, has become the purveyor of fake news," said Roque in a Facebook post on Wednesday. "Strike two na ang DOJ Secretary. Una, sinabi niya mayroon daw akong multiple passports. Ngayon, denied asylum. Ano ito? Nakalap ang impormasyon sa usapang Maritess," he added. He also said that his Germany trip was planned and he is now back in The Hague. "My trip to Germany was a pre-planned activity... The visit was upon the invitation of the Filipino community in Germany, where I administered the oathtaking of the proud members of the Hakbang ng Maisug Germany," explained Roque Last week, Roque also said that "asylum proceedings have not yet concluded." '[A]s of this date, asylum proceedings have not yet concluded, and no one has access to the proceedings except me and the Dutch government as the matter is treated with confidentiality,' Roque said on a Facebook post. Roque is facing charges for qualified human trafficking in connection with the Lucky South 99 POGO firm before the Angeles, Pampanga Regional Trial Court (RTC). A warrant of arrest has been ordered by the Angeles, Pampanga Regional Trial Court Branch 118. According to the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC), authorities were able to find evidence of torture, kidnapping, and sex trafficking at the site. Roque has denied the allegations against him. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
