Arab News06-05-2025

RIYADH: The sixth Jusoor exhibition, organized by Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Islamic Affairs at Skanderbeg Square in Pristina, Kosovo, is attracting a large number of visitors daily.
The exhibition's introductory section showcases Al-Masmak Fort and Saudi coffee, highlighting authentic Saudi heritage and hospitality.
The technology pavilion at the 10-day event has attracted significant interest for its modern digital innovations highlighting the Kingdom's technical progress, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday.
It includes several ministry-developed applications, notably the Correct Citation app, which features a smart keyboard that accurately integrates Qur'anic verses and Prophetic hadiths, and allows them to be shared as text or images.
The 3D Hajj and Umrah app offers a virtual experience simulating pilgrimage rituals in multiple languages, while the Rushd app provides a comprehensive digital library with books and Islamic content in 51 languages.
Attendees praised the Kingdom's efforts in serving Islam and promoting moderation, the SPA reported.
Visitors also received detailed information about the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Guests Program for Hajj and Umrah, and its role in serving pilgrims.
Additionally, VR technology allows visitors to explore rare photos of Makkah and historic mosques, offering an engaging interactive experience of the Kingdom's history and holy sites.
The ministry recently concluded the fifth Jusoor exhibition in Jakarta, Indonesia, which welcomed more than 1.25 million visitors from diverse backgrounds.
The 10-day exhibition at Istiqlal Mosque was one of the largest cultural and advocacy events organized by the ministry outside the Kingdom.
Saudi officials also distributed more than 150,000 copies of Qur'an, printed and translated into Indonesian by the King Fahd Qur'an Printing Complex in Madinah.
Indonesian visitors praised the exhibition for its blend of spiritual and cultural themes, strong organization, and diverse, informative content.

What We Are Reading Today: The Cultural House in Riyadh

I recently visited the newly opened Culture House public library, an initiative by the Libraries Commission and Riyadh municipality. The library is part of the King Salman Science Oasis project in Al-Ta'awun neighborhood, and it exceeded my expectations. Before visiting, I was aware that I needed to book a time for my preferred section. This is an important detail to note, as you must have a reservation to access any area of the library. Upon arrival, I easily scanned a QR code, filled in my name and phone number, and waited just 10 minutes for my tour. The staff at the library were exceptional; the representative who guided me was friendly and informative and made the experience more enjoyable. The library itself is designed with comfort in mind, offering various zones, including a tech space, a kids' area, flexible workspaces, and a cafe on the ground floor. The first floor features the main library with ample seating for both group and solo activities, as well as an outdoor space. It was great to see workstations equipped with computers, printers, and scanners that facilitate scanning colored books. I particularly enjoyed the outdoor area, which includes a playground and relaxing spots near the water, as well as food trucks. It's a great place for families and friends to gather. While I was unable to explore the middle or main section fully, I am eager to return. A couple of guidelines to consider: The library's washroom closes at midnight and while cycling on the grounds is not permitted, skateboards are allowed. Additionally, sitting on the grass is not allowed, though sitting on the floor is. I highly recommend a visit to the library. The clean, quiet environment, combined with friendly staff and great amenities, makes it a standout space in Riyadh. For a city of its size, I hope to see more libraries like this across the Kingdom's capital and beyond.

Saudi art returns to Concentrico festival in Spain

DHAHRAN: The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, known as Ithra, returns with more Saudi-inspired art for the second year at the Concentrico International Festival of Architecture and Design in Spain. The installation will be open to the public at Plaza de la Diversidad in Logrono until June 24. This year, Ithra presents 'Rooted in Warmth' by Saudi multimedia artist Raghad Al-Ahmed, alongside a sensory experience, 'Summer Blessings,' by Saudi visual narrative studio Nclass. Visitors are encouraged to interact with and even climb the structure to experience the connection between agriculture and community ties to nature. The installation was created with more than 50 women artisans from Jouf, northern Saudi Arabia, inspired by Al-Ahmed's roots in the Hejazi community, particularly Taif, where gatherings under tree shade are part of rural life. The sensory experience 'Summer Blessings' complements 'Rooted in Warmth' by showcasing the diversity of local fruits and herbs. Noura Al-Zamil, head of programs at Ithra, said: 'We are proud to present Raghad Al-Ahmed's work at Concentrico. Showcasing it at a leading European design festival reflects Ithra's ongoing efforts to support creative expression. 'This initiative provides a platform for Saudi artists and artisans to share their work globally, enriching the cultural landscape. 'Rooted in Warmth,' combining personal and national identity with contemporary art, will encourage cross-cultural dialogue at the festival,' she added. After its debut in Spain, 'Rooted in Warmth' will be exhibited in Saudi Arabia as part of Tanween 2025 later this year. Tanween, Ithra's annual design event, highlights global design excellence and promotes creative innovation.

Bella Hadid's Orabella launches new collabaration

DUBAI: American Dutch Palestinian supermodel Bella Hadid is expanding her beauty brand, Orebella, into the world of accessories — and she's doing it with a little help from her close friends. For the latest updates, follow us on Instagram @ Hadid has teamed up with Wildflower Cases co-founders Sydney and Devon Lee Carlson to launch a limited-edition collaboration featuring two dreamy new products: an iPhone case and a 'Scentable Wristlet.' Hadid took to Instagram to announce the launch, writing, 'Feeling like the luckiest girl in the world to be able to be creative with my beauty boss sisters. Life is beautiful when we have the opportunity to watch our friends winning. So proud of you two. So proud of our teams. So proud of us. Love you all — thank you for bringing this vision to life. 'Cases ANDDDD our most special scented wristlets to keep the orebella scent of your choice on you at all times! Been wanting to make this accessory for a while, had the idea for scented bracelets and wristlets, and my sisters pulled it all together for us. Love you guys so much,' she added. Teased earlier on Instagram through behind-the-scenes campaign shots, the collaboration blends Orebella's fragrance-forward ethos with Wildflower's unique phone accessory style. The iPhone case is designed with a celestial sky motif and a delicate crescent moon, channeling Hadid's signature mystical aesthetic — part of what the trio call a 'girl gang collection,' celebrating the friendship between Bella, Devon, and Sydney. Meanwhile, the Scentable Wristlet introduces a functional — and fragrant — twist. Designed to hold a small vial of Orebella's signature scent, the wristlet allows users to carry their favorite fragrance with them wherever they go, seamlessly merging style with sensory self-expression. Orebella, which launched in May last year with a sell-out line of clean fragrance mists, is rooted in Hadid's love of scent layering, spirituality, and beauty rituals. Hadid wrote on her website at the time: 'For me, fragrance has always been at the center of my life — helping me feel in charge of who I am and my surroundings. From my home to nostalgic memories, to my own energy and connection with others, scent has been an outlet for me. It made me feel safe in my own world.'
