Arafat sermon to disseminate among global audience in 34 languages

MAKKAH — The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque has completed preparations for the Arafat sermon translation project.
The project aims to convey Islam's message of tolerance to a global audience in their native languages, fostering better communication between Muslims and non-Muslims. It also underscores the Kingdom's pivotal role in serving the Two Holy Mosques and its unwavering commitment to supporting pilgrims worldwide.
The project aims to provide real-time translation of the Arafat sermon in more than 34 languages, making it one of the largest initiatives of the Hajj season. A key feature of the project is the integration of Quick Response (QR) codes, which offer easy access to both textual and audio translations. This allows pilgrims to listen to the sermon in their respective languages, regardless of their location, whether within the holy sites or beyond.
To expand the reach and amplify the impact of the service, QR codes have been displayed on screens in key facilities, buses, and pilgrim accommodations. Additionally, the service has been promoted through various government media platforms and shared with international media in coordination with the Ministry of Media.

Nearly 6,000 new urban heritage sites registered in National Urban Heritage Register

The Riyadh Region has 258 sites; Makkah Region: 483 sites; Qassim Region: 761 sites; Asir Region: 3,893 sites; Al-Baha Region: 499 sites; Hail Region: 60 sites; Jazan Region: 8 sites; Al-Jouf Region: 4 sites; and the Eastern Province: three sites. This registration was made in accordance with regulations related to antiquities and urban heritage, and in accordance with the decision of the Heritage Commission's Board of Directors to delegate the authority's CEO to register urban heritage sites. This is intended to enhance the protection of these sites from encroachment or neglect and ensure their preservation for future generations. The commission emphasized that this step is part of its strategic plan to expand the scope of legal protection for heritage sites and enable their rehabilitation in a way that enhances national identity and highlights their cultural and historical value as living testaments to the Kingdom's architectural heritage. The commission called on all members of society to support its efforts to monitor and register heritage sites by reporting them via the "Balagh" service, communicating with the commission through its official social media channels, or by calling the number of the Unified Security Operations Center 911. The commission emphasized that community participation is a key component in preserving and activating the national urban heritage.

Saudi Gazette report MADINAH — Several exhibitions and knowledge centers within the courtyards and halls of the Prophet's Mosque are offering enriching cultural and educational experiences to pilgrims and visitors during the Hajj season, showcasing the depth of Islamic heritage and the warm hospitality of Madinah. Among the key attractions is the Exhibition on the Architecture of the Prophet's Mosque, located in the southern square opposite exits 308 and 309. Open daily from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., the exhibition highlights the architectural evolution of the mosque through interactive displays and modern presentation techniques. Nearby, the International Exhibition of the Prophet's Biography, situated in front of exits 306 and 307, operates from 4:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The exhibition offers visitors a contemporary, immersive experience into the life and character of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), presenting his values and message through multimedia Facility 204 in the southern square, the Rare Manuscripts Exhibition welcomes guests from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 features a remarkable collection of historical manuscripts, documents, and inscriptions that chronicle the development of Islamic calligraphy and literature across the Prophet's Mosque Library, located near Gate 10 on the western side, provides around-the-clock services to comprises several specialized sections, including rare books, manuscripts, an audio library, and various technical Rare Books and Manuscripts Section, situated inside the mosque near the Uthman Gate, is a key destination for scholars and houses more than 4,000 original manuscripts, around 60,000 digital manuscripts, 4,600 imaged manuscripts, as well as 250 handwritten Qur'ans and 200 printed Qur' section operates in two shifts: from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Heritage Commission registers over 700 new archaeological sites in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — The Heritage Commission revealed that 744 new archaeological sites have been added to the National Antiquities Register, bringing the total to 10,061 across the Kingdom. This milestone highlights the richness and diversity of Saudi Arabia's cultural heritage and reflects the commission's continuous commitment to documenting and preserving these sites. The newly registered sites span various regions of the Kingdom, including Riyadh (253), Makkah (11), Madinah (167), Qassim (30), Eastern Province (13), Asir (64), Tabuk (72), Hail (13), Northern Borders (2), Jazan (23), Najran (86), and Al-Jouf (10). The registrations comply with the Antiquities, Museums, and Urban Heritage Law, issued by Royal Decree on 9/1/1436 AH, and follow a resolution by the Heritage Commission's Board of Directors authorizing its CEO to register archaeological and heritage sites. This initiative aims to strengthen protection for sites of historical and cultural value and ensure proper documentation. Emphasizing that community participation is a key pillar in preserving and promoting the Kingdom's national heritage, the Heritage Commission called on citizens and residents to support these efforts by reporting unregistered sites via the Balagh platform, official social media channels, or the Unified Security Operations Center at 911.
