Kerala Crime Files Season 2 OTT Release Date: After the strong buzz around its debut season, Kerala Crime Files is back with a second round, and this time, the mystery cuts deeper. Titled Kerala Crime Files: The Hunt for CPO Ambili, Season 2 is all set to premiere on June 20, 2025, on JioHotstar. It will stream not just in Malayalam but also in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.
The first season that set the tone
When Kerala Crime Files dropped its first season last year, it didn't come in with a lot of noise. But what worked in its favour was how quietly gripping the narrative turned out to be. Directed by Ahammed Khabeer, the story followed the investigation into the murder of a sex worker found dead in a shady lodge. The only clue? A fake ID left behind with the name Shiju.
No melodrama, no heroism, just six grounded episodes that focused on the step-by-step police investigation, handled by SI Manoj (played by Aju Varghese) and his superior, played by Lal. It won praise for its realistic portrayal of crime-solving and the kind of quiet tension that stays with you.
What's new in Season 2?
This time, the case hits closer to home. The storyline revolves around the sudden disappearance of a police officer, CPO Ambili Raju, and the chain of events that unfold when his team sets out to find him. Veteran actor Indrans plays Ambili, and though he's missing for most of the series, his presence, or rather, absence, becomes the emotional core of the narrative.
The returning cast includes Aju Varghese, Lal, Sanju Sanichen, and Navas Vallikunnu, but the big new addition this season is Arjun Radhakrishnan, who takes on the role of SI Noble, the cop leading the hunt. If Arjun's name rings a bell, that's because he was seen in projects like Rocket Boys, Ullozhukku, and Kannur Squad, known for taking up intense roles that require a lot of emotional range. The supporting cast also gets a boost with actors like Harishree Ashokan, Noorin Shereef, Shibla Fara, and Jeo Baby.
Who's behind it?
Ahammed Khabeer again directs Kerala Crime Files Season 2. The writing this time is handled by Bahul Ramesh, the same writer behind Kishkinda Kaandam, which was appreciated for its quirky tone and sharp dialogues. Before the official release, the team has planned a special screening in Kochi on June 18 for members of the film fraternity and media. The series will follow a weekly drop format and is expected to have 6 to 8 episodes, similar to its first run.

In a move that has left the Indian literary world stunned, the JCB Prize for Literature — once the country's most lucrative book award — has officially been discontinued. While the reasons for the shutdown remain unclear, the decision closely follows the cancellation of the JCB Literature Foundation's licence. A notice dated March 12 on the award's official website stated that the foundation had applied to the Registrar of Companies, Delhi & Haryana, seeking to revoke its Section 8(5) license under the Companies Act, 2013. It added that the organisation would now be reclassified as a 'Private Limited' company, no longer functioning as a foundation. The award was given by the 'foundation', which was established to promote the 'art of literature in India'. About the JCB Prize for Literature Founded in 2018, the JCB Prize was widely celebrated not just for its generous cash prize, but for its commitment to promoting Indian fiction across languages. Five out of the seven winning books were translations — a reflection of the prize's dedication to linguistic diversity. Landmark winners included Jasmine Days by Benyamin (translated from Malayalam), Delhi: A Soliloquy by M Mukundan (Malayalam), The Paradise of Food by Khalid Jawed (Urdu), and Fire Bird by Perumal Murugan (Tamil). Each shortlisted author received ₹ 1 lakh, and in the case of a translated work, the translator was awarded ₹ 50,000. When a translated novel won, the translator took home an impressive ₹ 10 lakh alongside the author's ₹ 25 lakh. As tributes pour in from authors, publishers, and translators across the country, the loss of the JCB Prize marks the end of a short yet impactful chapter in Indian literary history.

Kuberaa box office collection day 2: Sekhar Kammula's Dhanush, Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna and Jim Sarbh-starrer Kuberaa is holding steady at the box office. According to Sacnilk, the film brought in ₹ 29.66 crore net in India on its first Saturday. Kuberaa registered a good occupancy at 60.36% for the Telugu version and is performing better in the Telugu version than the Tamil version. The collections are on par with the ₹ 27.04 crore that Dhanush's previous film, Raayan, collected in two days. Suriya's recent release, Retro, made ₹ 27 crore in two days, but Kuberaa has yet to surpass Ajith Kumar's Vidaamuyarchi or Good Bad Ugly and Balakrishna's Daaku Maharaaj. Sitaare Zameen Par Box Office Collection Day 2: Aamir Khan-starrer, Sitaare Zameen Par, hit the silver screen on Friday this week and scored a double digit figure at the box office right on the opening day. Directed by RS Prasanna, it is the spiritual sequel of Taare Zameen Par. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Sitaare Zameen Par made a business of ₹ 10.28 crore on Saturday, June 21. The film saw an overall 22.43% occupancy in Hindi language on Saturday. It also released in Tamil and Telugu. Sitaare Zameen Par had an overall 25.20% Tamil Occupancy on Saturday and 17.42% Telugu Occupancy. Without blocked seats, the Aamir Khan sequel was poised to make a business of ₹ 3.31 crore from advance booking ticket sales. In total, the film was said to open with ₹ 6.88 crore gross earnings, including blocked seats. Sitaare Zameen Par is following a strictly theatrical release policy which means it might not see its OTT release soon or ever. As per a report of Bollywood Hungama, the film is also experimenting with several new strategies. Going by the early reviews from the audience, the film has been dubbed as a 'well-intentioned film.' Critics reviews also hailed Aamir Khan's performance in the film. Sitaare Zameen Par is said to be the Hindi remake of the 2018 Spanish film, Campeones.
