Florida basketball finalizing matchup with in-state rival Miami Hurricanes in November
Florida basketball is closing in on an agreement to take on the Miami Hurricanes in Jacksonville this coming season, according to Swamp247's Graham Hall. The two programs are eyeing Sunday, Nov. 16, as the date for the neutral-court matchup between two in-state rivals.
According to the report, the Gators have already agreed to a contract with the City of Jacksonville, while the 'Canes are expected to follow suit in the near future. However, Hall did not indicate a projected decision date.
It will be the 70th meeting between the Sunshine State schools and the first with head coach Todd Golden at the helm of the Orange and Blue. Florida holds the edge in the all-time series, doubling up Miami at 46-23, and has won six of the last 10 meetings, including two straight.
The last time the two teams met on the collegiate parquet was in the second round of the Charleston Classic held in Charleston, South Carolina, back in 2019. The Gators trounced the Hurricanes in a 78-58 beatdown on that late November afternoon.
Once finalized, Miami joins the Arizona Wildcats, Duke Blue Devils and UConn Huskies on Florida's non-conference schedule, as well as the inevitable matchup with the Florida State Seminoles. There is also the Rady Children's Invitational at the end of November in which the Gators will compete against the Providence Friars, TCU Horned Frogs and Wisconsin Badgers.

The Miami Heat appear to be gaining steam as a potential trade destination for Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant. In turn, that could decrease the likelihood of a deal with the Houston Rockets. On Saturday night, ESPN's Shams Charania listed the Heat first among three teams that Durant would want a trade to and commit to long-term (joining the Rockets and San Antonio Spurs, who were the only teams previously reported). In both cases, Phoenix seemingly isn't receiving the desired trade return from Houston or San Antonio that it would want. While it's possible that any of these leaks could be for leverage purposes, the momentum seems to be in Miami's favor as the Durant talks enter what is believed to be their closing stages. If there's a silver lining for the Rockets, should they not land the 15-time NBA All-Star, it's that Miami is an Eastern Conference team. The Spurs or Minnesota Timberwolves — reported to be in the Durant discussions on Friday — would likely be a worse outcome than the Heat from a Houston perspective, since those are West rivals. 4-star Alabama target announces official commitment date
Yet another Alabama Crimson Tide football recruiting target will be announcing their commitment decision over the coming days. According to a post on social media Friday afternoon, Roman Voss will be announcing his decision this upcoming Monday, June 23. Voss will decide between Alabama and the Minnesota Golden Gophers, two finalists he recently announced back in May. At the moment, Voss is currently considered as the nation's No. 207 overall player according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, as well as the No. 1 prospect in the state of Minnesota where he attends Jackson County Central High School. Voss, a four-star prospect, is also ranked as the No. 12 overall athlete nationally. The decision of Voss is yet another to add to what is a loaded next two weeks for the Crimson Tide. Where Auburn stands in Claude Mpouma's recruitment ahead of his June commitment date
Auburn remains in the mix to land the four-star lineman from Illinois ahead of his commitment date. Four-star offensive tackle Claude Mpouma included the Auburn Tigers in his top five schools this week, and has set a commitment date. Where does Auburn stand in the mix? The offensive lineman from Chicago, Illinois, announced on social media that he will announce his pledge on Sunday, June 29, and that Auburn is among the top programs that remain in contention to land him. The Tigers join Ohio State, Florida, Michigan, and Nebraska in the race for Mpouma's signature. A successful visit to the Plains earlier this month is a key reason why Auburn remains high on Mpouma's radar. In an interview with Jeffrey Lee of On3, Mpouma said that offensive line coach Jake Thornton and defensive line coach Vontrell King-Williams, who is an alum of the high school that Mpouma attends, is selling Auburn well and that Auburn is a "top three" school for him, and that they are not the No. 3 school for him.
