Pampanoor: 'Cutting down trees is easy, but growing them is a true challenge,' said Rapthadu MLA Paritala Sunitha, urging people to rethink their actions on World Environment Day. She participated in a large-scale tree plantation programme at the Pampanur Urban Forest in Atmakur mandal, along with District Collector Dr Vinod Kumar, CFO Yashodabai, and DFO officials.
As part of the event, around 400 saplings were planted and watered. MLA Sunitha emphasized the importance of environmental preservation and said that every planted sapling should grow into a mighty tree. The event promoted the message:
'Let's plant trees, eliminate plastic pollution, and pass on a greener planet to future generations.' She added that under the vision of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, a target of planting one crore trees has been set across Andhra Pradesh, with 3.8 lakh planned for Anantapur district alone.
Highlighting past negligence, she recalled how the Pampanur Urban Forest near Subrahmanyeswara and Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy temples was originally developed as a tourism hub during the previous TDP government with the CM's support, but was neglected over the past five years.
She called on forest officials to submit a report to restore and develop the park for devotees and tourists.
She suggested that even the Electricity Department could reroute lines instead of cutting large trees and called for accountability from officials.

New twist to man's death during Jagan Mohan Reddy's rally in Andhra's Guntur

In a new twist to the case relating to the death of a person during YSRCP President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's June 18 rally in Guntur district, a video has surfaced allegedly showing the victim coming under the wheels of the vehicle carrying the former chief minister. The video was widely shared on social media platforms since Saturday, but its veracity could not be confirmed. The video shows Jagan standing on the door of his vehicle to wave at his supporters who were vying with each other to shake hands with him, and a man coming under the front wheel of the vehicle. The police have not yet reacted to the video, while the YSR Congress Party has dismissed it as an attempt to tarnish the image of its leader. Cheeli Singaiah (65) died after a vehicle in Jagan Mohan Reddy's convoy hit him on the National Highway at Etukuru village in Guntur district. The former chief minister was organising a rally from Tadepalli in Guntur district to Sattenapalli in Palnadu district to console party functionary Korlakunta Nagamalleswara Rao, who died by suicide due to alleged harassment by police and TDP leaders. According to police, Cheeli Singaiah had come to participate in the rally. Guntur District Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar had confirmed the same day that Singaiah was hit by a vehicle in Jagan's convoy. The SP stated that after the accident, the convoy moved without stopping there and taking care of the victim. The police on the patrolling duty at that time found the victim and shifted him to a hospital, but the doctors declared him as brought dead. The police registered a case and took up an investigation. After the video surfaced showing the victim being allegedly hit by Jagan's car, state Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar said that the YSRCP leader was throwing people's lives to the wind for his publicity stunt. Meanwhile, the YSR Congress Party has dismissed the video as 'fabricated' and an attempt to tarnish the image of Jagan Mohan Reddy. YSRCP leader and former Minister Ambati Rambabu said on Sunday that the death of a person during YS Jagan's Palnadu tour has been blown out of proportion. 'Just after the incident, TDP and its friends started a media trial aimed at spreading lies against YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and went in circles to tell that it was his car that had hit the person, Singamayya, resulting in his death. The SP himself confirmed that it was not Jagan's vehicle but the one that accompanied the convoy that caused the mishap,' Rambabu told media persons. The former minister stated that Jagan is such a person that he would ensure that the injured person is admitted to the hospital before resuming the tour. 'TDP-friendly media has been busy doling out false stories to dilute the success of our leader's tour,' he said. Rambabu, who has been booked for violating conditions laid down by police for Jagan's visit, alleged that the coalition government is misusing police to settle political scores and indiscriminately file false cases violating all norms only to please their political bosses and resorting to intimidation besides working with the sole intention of trying to scuttle Jagan Mohan Reddy's public contact programmes. The former minister said such acts will only strengthen our resolve to fight against the government and warned TDP leadership that they would not lose heart but will fight back the repression and the attempts at character assassination of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy would result in a groundswell of support from the public.

Achievement belongs to every citizen, says Andhra CM over record-breaking Yoga event

Amaravati: After the Yogandhra event at Visakhapatnam on the 11th International Day of Yoga created a new Guinness Book of World Record, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said this achievement belongs to every citizen of Andhra Pradesh. A total of 3,00,105 people participated in the event organised by the Government of India. This set the record for the largest yoga lesson ever. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the event by performing the Common Yoga Protocol with the participants at the RK Beach. He was joined by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, and Central and state ministers. The event was held on a 28-km stretch from RK Beach to Bhogapuram. It broke the record set in 2023 in Surat, which hosted a Yoga session with 1.47 lakh participants at one location. Reacting to a tweet by Guinness World Records on Sunday, Chief Minister Naidu posted that this achievement belongs to every citizen of Andhra Pradesh. 'I thank each and every one of you who made this possible. Your enthusiasm and dedication have been truly inspiring. This record shows what we can accomplish when we unite with a purpose. Congratulations to everyone!' wrote Naidu. 'And we did it! Heartfelt thanks to all the participants, TDP leaders and cadre, government officials, and everyone who contributed to achieving this remarkable feat,' posted Human Resources Development Minister Nara Lokesh. The event marked the culmination of Yogandhra, a month-long initiative by the state government to create public awareness. The programme began at 6.30 a.m. on Saturday, but participants had started arriving as early as 2 a.m. According to officials, a QR code-based tracking system set a new standard for crowd management and real-time attendance accuracy. A day before the main event, Visakhapatnam set another Guinness World Record for the largest synchronised Surya Namaskar with 22,122 tribal students performing together. Additionally, the state achieved 21 recognitions in the World Book of Records, showcasing its organisational excellence and public enthusiasm. Nine Indian Naval warships participated in the main event, symbolising national unity and pride.

Nicknames, Humour & Advice: How PM Modi's Personal Touch Inspires NDA's Young Turks

Last Updated: The prime minister's leadership is marked by an emotional intelligence that often goes unseen in conventional politics On the morning of June 21, as the Sun rose over the coastal town of Visakhapatnam, a state-wide celebration of International Yoga Day unfolded in Andhra Pradesh. But beyond the Yoga mats and pranayama sessions, what truly struck a chord with the people was Prime Minister Narendra Modi's warm and public praise for a rising leader—Nara Lokesh, son of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. In his address, PM Modi didn't just compliment Lokesh's month-and-a-half-long effort to turn Yoga Day into a people's movement, he affectionately referred to him as 'Bhai", not once but multiple times. The crowd noticed, and so did the political observers. A spontaneous moment the evening before had already gone viral—a candid photo of PM Modi placing a friendly arm around Lokesh and the two sharing a laugh. In Andhra's political circles, the message was loud and clear: Lokesh had arrived. But this wasn't a one-off interaction. Recently, PM Modi invited Lokesh and his family to his official residence in Delhi. Over two hours, they discussed governance, politics, personal anecdotes, and even Lokesh's young son, Devansh, who walked away utterly delighted. It was a rare, relaxed meeting that showed how the prime minister nurtures personal relationships even in the thick of political life. If Lokesh is the 'Bhai", then Shrikant Shinde, Shiv Sena MP and son of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, is the 'Bhau". A moniker usually reserved for an elder brother, the nickname was picked up by PM Modi after hearing how fellow MPs affectionately referred to Shrikant during an international delegation tour. Back home, even Eknath Shinde couldn't hide his pride. During a speech on Shiv Sena Foundation Day, an emotional Shinde Sr spoke of how his son had made every Sena worker proud—and even more so, his own father. PM Modi's mentorship style isn't always loud or ceremonial—but rather consistent, direct, and deeply personal. One of the youngest ministers in his cabinet, TDP's Rammohan Naidu, discovered this during one of the most emotionally taxing times: the Air India crash in Ahmedabad. As the minister in-charge faced growing pressure and grief, PM Modi offered crucial advice—remain calm, composed, and focused. He cited his own experiences during natural disasters, including moments where he had personally lifted victims' bodies during relief efforts. At a review meeting in Ahmedabad, the prime minister emphasised, 'It's easy to get emotional; staying steady is the true test of leadership." Such interactions reflect how Modi communicates not just with ministers, but with fellow MPs across party lines. Whether it's telling TDP MPs to 'call him anytime" if they need anything—'after all, he's an MP too"—or advising LJP leaders to make the most of their 'MY" (Mahila-Yuva) combination, Modi's messages resonate with both the politically seasoned and the first-timers. For many within the NDA, these aren't just niceties—they are moments of validation, encouragement, and connection. Take, for instance, Chirag Paswan, who often says Modi is his 'Ram", while he sees himself as 'Hanuman". The emotional bond is deeply felt, especially given the personal and political upheavals Chirag has faced. Children and teenagers too have stories. Whether it's Jaiveer Shergill's daughter, who was told by the PM, 'If your father troubles you, come to me," or the late Ananth Kumar's grandson, who declared to PM Modi that he wanted to grow up to be 'Hanuman", the anecdotes are as endearing as they are telling. Even Poonam Mahajan's daughter, upon meeting PM Modi, simply assumed he was her 'Ajoba" (grandfather)—because he was, in her words, 'so cool". Whether it's through affectionate nicknames like 'Bhai" and 'Bhau", informal dinners, or deeply human conversations during national crises, Modi's leadership is marked by an emotional intelligence that often goes unseen in conventional politics. He isn't just steering the ship—he's also cultivating the next line of captains. These moments may not always make it to the headlines, but for those involved, they become defining memories.
