To protest and condemn the killings of civilians during the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, markets across various Himachal districts remained closed for two hours.
Congress postpones Save Constitution rally
In wake of the terrorist attack, the Himachal Pradesh Congress had postponed its 'Samvidhan bachao' (Save Constitution) rally scheduled for April 26 in Shimla.
State Congress president and former MP Pratibha Singh said that the rally is postponed and the new dates will be decided soon.
Singh said that the Congress Party expresses its condolences to the innocent people killed in the attack. 'There is a lot of anger and resentment in the country after this terrorist attack and the Congress Party stands with the country and the people against terrorism in this hour of grief,' she said.
Terrorism will not be tolerated: BJP
State president of BJP minority morcha Bilal Shah said the Bharatiya Janata Party strongly condemns the 'barbaric and cowardly attack'. Bilal said, 'Terrorism will not be tolerated at all and the way this incident has been carried out, it is clear that international terrorist organisations do not like the flourishing Jammu and Kashmir. Trade was increasing in Jammu and Kashmir and tourists were also increasing, perhaps this was not acceptable to the terrorists. The BJP leadership will give a strong reply.'

Akhilesh Yadav eyes women vote bank with safety pledge, financial aid
Almost two years ahead of the UP assembly polls, Samajwadi Party chief and former CM Akhilesh Yadav has started eyeing the " women vote bank " in the politically crucial state. Targeting the BJP-headed UP government, Yadav said women have started distancing themselves from the ruling BJP as they are not safe under the current government. He claimed that injustice and oppression were at their peak. The state government's zero tolerance policy on law and order and atrocities against women has become a "zero". While focussing on the "women vote-bank", Yadav blamed the government for misusing the police force for its political gains. "Police will not do the right things, if they are used to win elections," Yadav told reporters. He added that if there is no proper policing, the law and order would not be good. Margao: BJP state president Damodar Naik on Sunday attributed his party's consecutive electoral defeats in the Fatorda constituency to demographic changes brought about by the 2012 delimitation exercise. He said that while the redrawing of boundaries severed the party's traditional strongholds, the minority-dominated areas that largely comprised the Fatorda constituency remained beyond BJP's electoral reach. Naik was elected MLA of Fatorda for two terms before losing to incumbent Vijai Sardesai since the 2012 assembly polls. Naik said that the delimitation process fundamentally altered Fatorda's electoral landscape. The constituency lost significant portions of Gogol and Comba — areas where BJP traditionally enjoyed strong support — which were redistributed to neighbouring Curtorim and Margao constituencies respectively. Naik drew parallels between Fatorda and other Catholic-dominated constituencies in South Goa where BJP has struggled to make inroads. The political rivalry between Naik and Sardesai recently intensified at Friday's BJP karyakarta melava. At the gathering, Naik challenged Sardesai to name a single signature project implemented during his 13-year tenure, even stating his readiness to quit politics if Sardesai could prove he brought any major development project to the constituency. Naik specifically highlighted his own achievements during his two-term tenure as the Fatorda MLA, citing the South Goa district hospital, South Goa collectorate complex, Ravindra Bhavan, and South Goa Planning and Development Authority's market complex as the flagship projects completed under his leadership. CPI (Maoist) NR bureau terror revival case: NIA nabs one more accused from Delhi
NEW DELHI: The anti-terror federal probe agency NIA has arrested another key accused, identified as Vishal Singh, in connection with its probe into the CPI (Maoist) Northern Region Bureau (NRB) terror revival conspiracy, officials said on Sunday. Following the arrest, the agency conducted a search at his residence in West Delhi and seized devices including hard drives, pen drives, mobile phones, and other incriminating material, they said. Singh, originally from Mathura in Uttar Pradesh, has been found to be a member of the CPI (Maoist), the officials said, alleging that he had delivered a drone to leaders of the banned outfit in the Chhakarbanda/Panchrukhiya forest area of Bihar to further its violent anti-national activities. 'He had imparted technical training to other cadres of the CPI (Maoist) and had also attended meetings with its central committee members in the deep forest areas of Bihar in 2019,' a senior NIA official said.
