Saudi Tourism Ministry Intensifies Inspection Efforts in Summer Tourist Destinations
The Saudi Ministry of Tourism has intensified its inspection efforts across several summer tourist destinations in the Kingdom, reported the Saudi Press Agency on Saturday. These inspections aim to ensure that hospitality facilities hold the necessary licenses from the ministry and comply with approved quality standards, coinciding with the launch of the Saudi Summer season. The ministry's inspection teams conducted more than 2,800 visits to summer destinations. The visits assessed the quality of services provided, the availability of safety requirements, and cleanliness levels, while also confirming that facilities had obtained the necessary licenses to operate. The ministry emphasized to all hospitality establishments, including private facilities, the importance of delivering high-quality services and adhering to its approved regulations. It stressed that violators will face penalties, which may include fines of up to SAR1 million, closure of the facility, or both.

SGS shareholders approve SAR 1.5B deals, contracts with related parties
Saudi Ground Services Co.'s (SGS) ordinary general meeting (OGM) approved a bundle of contracts with related parties during 2024, with a total value of approximately SAR 1.5 billion. According to a statement on Tadawul, it included dealings and contracts with Saudia (Saudi Arabian Airlines) at SAR 1.11 billion, Saudi Aerospace Engineering Industries (SAEI) at SAR 22.4 million, Saudia Private Aviation (SPA) at around SAR 13.3 million, Royal Fleet Services at SAR 31.49 million, flyadeal at SAR 245.6 million, SAL Saudi Logistics Services at SAR 18.2 million, and Catering Holding Co. (Catrion) at SAR 61.7 million. The dealings and contracts involve the offering of ground handling services at airports across the Kingdom. The board members Nasser AlQawas and Fahad Hamzah Sindi have an indirect interest in all of these contracts. SGS confirmed that all transactions were conducted on commercial terms without any preferential treatment. It also noted that the OGM approved all other items on the meeting agenda.

Saudia Airlines confirms flight from Jeddah diverted after bomb threat has landed safely
RIYADH: Saudia Airlines has confirmed that all passengers and crew are safe after a flight from Jeddah to Jakarta made an emergency landing at another airport in Indonesia, Al Arabiya News Channel reported on Tuesday. The flight was forced to divert after an email threat claimed there was a bomb on board, a Saudia spokesperson said. Abdullah Al-Shahrani, the airline's general manager of corporate communications, told Al Arabiya that in response to the security alert, Flight SV5276 was rerouted to Kualanamu International Airport in Medan as a precaution. The plane landed there safely and all passengers and crew evacuated the aircraft without incident and nobody was hurt, he added. Inspections by authorities confirmed the aircraft was secure and the bomb threat was false. Al-Shahrani said passenger safety remains Saudia's top priority and the airline was working to help passengers continue their journeys. In a statement to Arab News, Saudia confirmed: 'In response to a security alert received in flight, Saudia diverted Flight SV5276, operating from Jeddah to Jakarta, to Kualanamu International Airport in Indonesia as a precautionary measure. 'The aircraft landed safely, and all guests and crew disembarked without incident. Local authorities conducted standard checks shortly after landing, and have cleared the aircraft for continued operation. 'The safety and well-being of our guests and crew remain Saudia's highest priority. Full care and support have been provided and onward travel arrangements are being made."
