KUALA LUMPUR: Automation machinery solutions specialist ASM Automation Group Bhd aims to raise gross proceeds of RM21.82mil from its initial public offering (IPO), en route to a listing on the ACE Market of Bursa Malaysia.
With the funds pegged for business expansion, the group said it will issue 128.34 million new shares, or 24% of its enlarged issued share capital of 534.77 million shares, at an issue price of 17 sen each.
The IPO will also include an offer for sale of 53.48 million existing shares, or 10% of its enlarged issued share capital.
At the launch of its IPO prospectus, ASM said RM11.4mil of the funds will be pegged for the acquisition of land and the construction of a new factory to increase production and assembly capacity.
RM2.3mil will go towards purchasing machines and equipment and components for the assembly of demonstration machineries to support operational growth and customer engagement, and another RM2mil for design and development activities to enhance research and development activities.
Of the remainder, RM1.92mil will be used for working capital and RM4.2mil to defray listing expenses.
ASM managing director Chan Kok Heng said the company, having grown from a local custom automation outfit to a trusted name in the automation machinery solutions industry, is poised to deepen its technical capabilities and extend its market reach.
"The IPO will not only provide the funding required for our expansion plans but also enhance our visibility and credibility as a public-listed automation machinery solutions provider.
"With these resources, we aim to scale our innovation, manufacturing capacity, and export footprint to deliver even greater value to our customers," he said.
M&A Securities Sdn Bhd is the principal adviser, sponsor, underwriter and placement agent for the IPO while Eco Asia Capital Advisory Sdn Bhd is the financial adviser.

Hong Kong bourse seeks to woo Southeast Asia, Middle East firms for second listings
HONG KONG: The Hong Kong stock exchange plans to attract listed companies in Southeast Asia and the Middle East, in particular, for second listings in the financial hub, its chief executive said, as the bourse looks to burnish its global credentials. Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Ltd (HKEX) also sees a pickup in the number of companies listed in mainland China markets seeking a listing in the city to raise capital for their global expansions, Bonnie Chan said. "We're now more focused on companies which are actually already listed on another market, but might have outgrown their domestic market," said Chan, a former capital markets lawyer, who took over as HKEX's first female CEO last year. "I am now beginning to realize that our sweet spot may not be private companies." As part of those efforts, the Hong Kong stock exchange will soon open a representative office in Riyadh, Chan said, which will allow "even closer connection" with the Saudi exchange, after recent product launches. Three Singaporean firms listed in Hong Kong over the last 12 months, and a Thai company is expected to do the same soon, Chan said, adding HKEX's talks with potential issuers from outside the Greater China region has "gained quite a bit of momentum." The Hong Kong exchange, which is the most preferred venue for Chinese companies looking to raise offshore capital, has been striving to attract IPO hopefuls from elsewhere as part of its ambition to become a global capital raising platform. While that goal has met with limited success so far, Chan's efforts come against the backdrop of increased flows of capital into non-US markets as US President Donald Trump's policies cloud investors' appetite for dollar-denominated assets. A surge in listings and follow-on share offerings by Chinese companies, such as electric vehicle battery giant CATL's raising of US$5.3 billion last month, however, has boosted HKEX's outlook after it reported record high profit in the first quarter. The Hong Kong exchange has emerged as the top destination globally for listings by volume, with a total of 31 companies raising US$10 billion this year, according to LSEG data, with another US$26 billion raised via follow-on share issuances. INVESTOR INTEREST The momentum is set to continue mainly due to a strong list of mainland Chinese firms tapping the Hong Kong market to raise capital for global expansion plans, as Beijing steps up efforts to bolster its private enterprises and revive its economy. More than 20 mainland China-listed companies have applied to raise capital in Hong Kong by issuing shares, while another 20 have announced similar plans, Chan said, hoping to ride bullish investor sentiment. The Hang Seng index is up nearly 19 per cent so far this year. The number of companies in HKEX's IPO pipeline have doubled to more than 160 as of Friday from around 80 in end-December 2024, filing records show. "Amidst all the development in the world, we are now seeing investors again turning their attention to this part of the world when they assess investment opportunities, fundraising venues," Chan said. U.S. investors' demand for shares in recent Hong Kong listings has increased significantly, she said. "That's a good indication that the interest has returned from investors across different markets." Reuters reported last month, citing sources, that online fast fashion retailer Shein was working towards a listing in Hong Kong after its proposed IPO in London failed to secure the green light from Chinese regulators.

Cuckoo Malaysia's IPO sees modest retail demand, oversubscribed by 1.42 times
CUCKOO International Bhd, the Malaysian arm of South Korea's Cuckoo Homesys Co Ltd, has recorded modest public interest in its initial public offering (IPO), with an overall oversubscription rate of 1.42 times ahead of its Main Market debut on Bursa Malaysia scheduled for June 24. The company received 7,908 applications for 69.33 million shares, against the 28.66 million shares offered to the Malaysian public. 'The positive response for our IPO is both humbling and encouraging despite the market volatility and the rescheduling of our IPO to June 24, 2025,' said CEO Hoe Kian Choon in a statement today. 'It reflects the confidence investors have in Cuckoo Malaysia's vision, business model, and long-term growth potential.' Cuckoo had earlier revised its IPO issue price down from RM1.29 to RM1.08 per share, following the bookbuilding process and in light of a two-month deferment of its listing date due to market conditions. The Bumiputera public portion of the IPO saw an undersubscription of 0.35 times with 2,646 applications, while the remaining public portion drew a healthier response at 2.49 times oversubscription with 5,262 applications. Meanwhile, the institutional offering of 143.28 million shares was fully placed out to Malaysian and foreign investors. The 14.33 million shares reserved for eligible persons were also fully taken up, following a reallocation from the clawback of 179.1 million offer shares originally allocated to Bumiputera investors approved by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (Miti). Notices of allotment will be issued on June 23, and successful retail applicants will receive a refund of 21 sen per share due to the downward price revision. The IPO is expected to raise RM154.74 million in gross proceeds, which will be channelled toward rental business expansion, loan repayments, new Brandshops, IT upgrades, and regional growth in Singapore. RHB Investment Bank is the principal adviser and sole managing underwriter, while it jointly acts as global coordinator and bookrunner alongside AmInvestment Bank. –TMR
