Ruth Jones' estranged husband 'dating Gavin and Stacey actress lookalike'

Daily Mirror4 days ago

Gavin and Stacey star Ruth Jones and estranged husband David Peet released a statement confirming their split on Wednesday, revealing they 'remain good friends'
Ruth Jones' estranged husband, David Peet, has reportedly moved on with an education assistant who looks eerily similar to the Gavin and Stacey actress. Former couple David and Ruth, who are legally separated but "remain good friends", released a statement on Wednesday on their decision to split after 26 years of marriage.
In a statement shared with the PA news agency, they said: "We amicably went our separate ways 18 months ago and are now legally separated. We remain good friends. Since our separation, Ruth is living in London and David is living in Canada, where he is in a new relationship."

Ruth was a step-mum to David's three children from a previous marriage. And now, it has been revealed David's new girlfriend is an education assistant named Jayne Charity Cook.
She made her relationship with the TV producer public on her Facebook page and even shared a picture of the two getting cosy for her profile picture.
Jayne captioned her profile picture with three green heart emojis. Meanwhile, Ruth and David first met when they were both filming a pilot of a BBC comedy in the early 90s.
At the time, David was married, with Ruth later explaining that there had been an overlap with their relationship. She said: "Affairs cause a lot of pain; they're not something one aspires to do. You don't aspire to cause pain to people in their life."
But David and Ruth talked to each other on the phone before meeting one another, with Ruth, 58, previously explaining to The Scotsman: "It was love at first voice because I spoke to [him] on the phone before I met him."

While she rarely shared an insight into her relationship with him, she said in 2008: "He has a very sharp mind combined with a dry Yorkshire wit, making him a naturally funny man."
The two lived in Cardiff and established a production company called Tidy Productions, which created Gavin & Stacey. She also previously discussed her views on children.
Ruth told the Daily Mail: "It just didn't happen. It wasn't a decision. I don't have a burning desire to have babies. I think it's heartbreaking if you do and you find out you can't have them. I love being a stepmum — all the joy of motherhood without the pain of childbirth."

And she told The Scotsman of the "joys of parenthood without giving birth" that she adores her role as a stepmum. She gushed: "You take things as they come.
"There wasn't a moment when I thought, 'I've become a stepmum now.' We never had any difficulty with teenage angst, and now I'm looking forward to becoming a step-grandmother at some point."

Daniel Young said he didn't know he had a chance of firing a 59 after storming through the final on the final day to light the flame on his Hotel Planner Tour campaign. The Perth man finished third behind Englishman James Morrison in the Blot Play9 event at Golf Bluegreen de Pléneuf Val André after signing off with a ten-under-par 60. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad The blistering effort, which contained two eagles, equalled the course record after it had been set earlier in the week by Ireland's Max Kennedy. Daniel Young acknowledges the crowd during the final round of the Blot Play9 at Golf Bluegreen de Pleneuf Val Andre in France |'It was just one of those days,' said Young, who was out in 31 before storming home in a brilliant 29. 'Yeah, played great then things just started falling into place. 'I'd played well on the front but then chipped in on ten from just short of the green for an eagle and you think 'oh, we've got a little chance here to get on a run'.' Asked if he'd been thinking about shooting a magical 59 when a birdie at either the 17th or 18th would hace done the trick, the Scot added: 'Not really, to be honest. I forgot that it is a par 70 here, so I wasn't even thinking 59. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'I was just thinking about trying to pick up some more shots and have a chance to win the tournament. 'I thought if I could maybe go out and shoot maybe four under five that would gave been a really good Sunday. So, to shoot 60 is just unbelievable.' Finishing with a five-under-par target, he came up just one short of a play-off that saw Morrison beat Kennedy at the first extra hole. 'This place is never there for the taking and my game this week has been a bit mixed,' said Young, who picked up €21,000. The effort lifted Young from 52nd to 26th in the Road to Mallorca Rankings, with the top 25 at the end of the season securing DP World Tour cards. 'It's been quite a frustrating year,' he admitted, having made it to the season-ending Grand Final in Mallorca for the first time last season before ending up a career-best 32nd in the standings.

Some 212,000 people flooded through the gates at the Royal Highland Show this year to see more than 6,000 animals and taste the best of Scotland's food and drink in a celebration of farming. From prize-winning cattle to the latest models in agri tech, the event saw the best of the country's agriculture come together over four days, with early bird tickets already going on sale for next year. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Some eye-grabbing champions of the weekend included global brand New Holland taking home a prize for its 100 per cent methane-powered tractor, which it claims to be a world first. A world-first was witnessed in the forestry arena at this year's show. Dan Wheelan, from Shropshire, set a world record climbing a 80ft pole in just 9 seconds, beating the previous record of 9.61. Another prize-winner included Elaine Ramsay, from Dumfries and Galloway-based Millisle Clydesdales, who took home the heavy horse champion for her Clydesdale, Yorkie. The Ramsay family celebrated their 60th anniversary of showing heavy horses at the event this year. Ms Ramsay's father, Hugh Ramsay, holds an MBE for services to the Clydesdale horse. This year, the cup, which rotates the livestock categories annually, was awarded to champion goat, Messrs Webster and Smith with Guilden Elm. It is the 15th time in 45 years the pair have won the award. The most sustainable farm of the year, an award hosted by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust (RBST), went to Balcaskie Estate in Fife. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad The estate is home to native breeds including Lincoln Red cattle, Tamworth pigs and a range of native sheep. Estate managers have regularly championed the animals, saying they are central to Balcaskie's low-input, sustainable farming system, and to the management of the wider landscape to help promote natural biodiversity. As well as celebrating agriculture in the country, the event marked a major social occasion, particularly for those working in the sector from all corners of the country. Over 56,000 pints were poured over the four days and some 7,400 people partied into the night on Friday and Saturday evening at the Royal Highland Hoolie, with a folk and country line-up including Elephant Sessions. David Tennant, head of show for RHASS, which runs the event, said: 'It has been wonderful to see generations from across the agricultural community come together to celebrate their great achievements, learnings, stories and make new memories, just as it has been to see visitors and families enjoy all that the Show has to offer. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'We were very honoured to have welcomed HRH Princess Anne to Friday's Show when we shared with her all of the great achievements from the Scottish agricultural industry. 'While the Show is renowned for its historic and traditional aspects, namely the livestock competitions and parades, over the years we have developed it so far beyond that, and every year we build and grow on the last. 'I'd like to thank everyone for playing their part, from our members, exhibitors and competitors to our staff and members of the public, for helping to make the 2025 Royal Highland Show a truly unforgettable event!'
