
Labour Ministry receives 106 complaints over minimum wage violations in 2025
According to Article 53 of the Labour Law, establishments that fail to comply with minimum wage regulations are fined between JD500 and JD1,000 per violation (JT file)
AMMAN — The Ministry of Labour has received 106 complaints since the beginning of 2025 regarding private sector employers' failure to comply with the minimum wage, Ministry Spokesperson Mohammad Zyoud said on Monday.
Zyoud reiterated the ministry's commitment to enforcing minimum wage regulations through inspection campaigns and by addressing complaints submitted through the "Himayah" platform, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He urged private sector workers who are not receiving the minimum wage to file complaints through the platform, assuring them that reports can be submitted confidentially.
The spokesperson also noted that complaints should specifically cite "failure to meet the minimum wage requirement" rather than "non-payment of wages".
Zyoud cited Article 46 of the Labour Law, which requires employers to pay wages, including overtime, within seven days of the due date.
He also noted that the Tripartite Committee for Labour Affairs' decision to raise the minimum wage took effect at the beginning of 2025, setting it at JD290 per month for all workers, regardless of their method of payment.
According to Article 53 of the Labour Law, establishments that fail to comply with minimum wage regulations are fined between JD500 and JD1,000 per violation.
Employers must also compensate workers for any wage shortfalls, with penalties doubling for repeat offenses.

Factories situated outside both industrial cities and regulatory boundaries can receive full coverage 100% of transformer costs, also capped at JD60,000. However, the program excludes factories located within regulatory boundaries but outside industrial cities. JCI President Fathi Jaghbir underscored the program's importance in enhancing the competitiveness of Jordan's industrial sector. He underlined the Chamber's commitment to facilitating access to government support programs through continuous coordination with relevant authorities. Jaghbir noted that the JCI, through its Center for Energy and Environmental Sustainability in Industry, is actively receiving and processing applications from factories and providing assistance in completing all procedural requirements in cooperation with the Ministry's Rural Fils Directorate. He added that 16 factories have benefited from the program since the beginning of the year, receiving a combined total of JD319,000 in support. An additional 20 applications are currently under review. The Chamber encouraged all eligible factories to reach out to the Center for Energy and Environmental Sustainability for guidance and support in navigating the application process.

Committee approves JD719,000 in rural electricity projects for 186 sites
Ammon News - The Higher Steering Committee for the Rural Fils, chaired by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh, on Sunday approved a list of 186 homes and sites to be connected to the electrical grid through conventional networks during May, at an estimated cost of JD719,000. Kharabsheh said the committee had endorsed several projects and locations for grid connection under the Rural Fils framework, including residential communities and economic activities, following amendments to the guidelines governing electricity connections financed by the Rural Fils. Hisham Momani, Director of the Electricity and Rural Electrification Directorate at the Ministry, detailed the approved allocations. They include JD179,000 for residential clusters of five homes located outside planning boundaries, and JD114,000 for clusters of at least three homes in similar areas. Additionally, JD52,000 was approved for individual homes outside planning zones benefiting from existing infrastructure. A portion of the funding, amounting to JD10,000, was allocated to support homes of low-income families situated within planning boundaries and electricity company concession areas. This reflects the Ministry's commitment to social support and equitable access to energy. Productive projects in poverty pockets outside planning areas such as poultry, cattle, sheep, and fish farms received JD73,000 in funding. These efforts align with national goals to support farmers, bolster livestock production, and enhance food security and self-reliance. The approved list also includes JD40,000 to illuminate roads leading to cemeteries, facilitating nighttime burials. A further JD153,000 was allocated to support productive, industrial, and investment ventures in underserved areas, contingent on the creation of local employment opportunities. Momani added that JD59,000 was designated to electrify farms containing artesian wells outside planning boundaries, with the aim of supporting agricultural sustainability. An additional JD39,000 was allocated to projects serving government entities, agricultural cooperatives, and charitable associations.

Al-Zoubi added that other performance indicators also showed high levels: overall satisfaction with service quality reached 91.7%, while the Net Promoter Score (NPS) stood at 85.6%, reflecting increased public trust and willingness to recommend the services to others. She noted that these positive results demonstrate the success of the ministry's collaborative approach with various government entities, aimed at strengthening public trust in government services. She also stressed that citizen feedback is a fundamental reference for continuously developing and improving service quality. This announcement comes as part of the results of the Citizen Satisfaction Survey, which targeted visitors to government service centers across various governorates and included multiple indicators related to performance quality and user experience, in support of the ministry's efforts to advance digital transformation and enhance the efficiency of public services.
