Chicken N Pickle, a Kansas City-founded restaurant boasting pickleball courts, opens Tuesday in Thornton.
Dig in: It's the restaurant's first Colorado location, and will feature eight courts inside its 45,000-square-foot complex at The Grove shopping center near Interstate-25 and 144th Avenue.
The two-story venue will include six indoor and two covered outdoor courts, along with cornhole, ping pong, Jenga and life-sized Battleship.
The vibe: The family-friendly restaurant bills itself as a fast-casual, "chef-driven" eatery, focusing on fresh and quality ingredients raised responsibly and sourced ethically.
Among its most notable dishes is its wood-fired rotisserie chicken.
Best bites: Try the chicken tinga tostada, a tasty but light appetizer that's filling but won't mess up your racket swing.
The smoked chicken wings are also a great option; they're very good dry, but are also available with some classic buffalo sauce.
What to try: The spicy blackberry margarita is a creative, flavorful cocktail for people who like a sweet-and-spicy treat.
It's available at the three bars inside and outside the restaurant.
Between the lines: The restaurant has the backing of two top Denver Broncos rivals in Kansas City Chiefs stars Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes, who together raised $10 million to fund the chain.

NBA Finals Game 7: LeBron James, others react after Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton's early Achilles injury

The NBA world was thrilled to get a rare Game 7 in the NBA Finals. But just minutes into that contest between the Indiana Pacers and the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night, everything shifted. Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton went crashing down to the court during the first quarter, appearing to re-injure his strained right calf during a non-contact moment. He immediately started pounding the floor at the Paycom Center, too, and was extremely emotional as play went the other way. The Pacers quickly ruled him out just a few minutes later with what they called a right "lower leg injury." Further specifics are not known, though Haliburton's father confirmed to ESPN that it is an Achilles injury. Advertisement Almost immediately, players from across the league chimed in on social media. Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James shared what most of basketball fans were feeling in a very not-safe-for-work way. He was far from alone. Even Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes chimed in. Haliburton first went down with the calf injury during Game 5 of the series, though he returned to the court for the Pacers' Game 6 win on Thursday. He had 14 points and five assists in that 108-91 win, which forced Sunday's Game 7. Haliburton was off to a great start on Sunday night, too. He had nine points and went 3-of-4 from the 3-point line before he went down to keep the Pacers in the mix early. Advertisement The Pacers, though, just couldn't keep up without Haliburton. The Thunder flew ahead in the fourth quarter, and built up a 21-point lead briefly, before grabbing the 103-91 win. That gave the franchise its first title since relocating to Oklahoma. The Pacers were playing in their first NBA Finals since 2000. They will now head home without what would have been their first title since the merger, and Haliburton will begin recovering — something that is sure to carry over well into next season.

Garett Bolles says Sean Payton has helped the Broncos improve in 'crunch time'

The Denver Broncos have been trending up since hiring Sean Payton in 2023. Denver improved by three wins in Payton's first season compared to the previous year, and they then improved by two more wins in Payton's second season. Broncos left tackle Garett Bolles, the team's longest-tenured player, spoke about Payton after a mandatory minicamp practice earlier this month. "We have a hell of a coaching staff here," Bolles said on June 10. "We really do. One of the best in the NFL for a reason. Coach Payton, I love him dearly. I'm just super proud of him, that he chose us to be here. He could have gone anywhere else, but he chose to be a Denver Bronco. Just his coaching experience, his mindset and his culture that he builds is so special. He works the hell out of us, that's for sure. I think when we get in those moments when it's crunch time and you have to score or you have to make a stop, I don't think we're afraid because he puts us in situations in practice to make us feel uncomfortable so that when we get in those moments, we can win those close games. "A couple of years ago, we weren't winning those close games. We were losing by three, four, five, seven points. Those are the games you have to win in this league. The mistakes that we used to make and the mistakes that we don't make right now is the difference. I think it's just all about the culture we have here, the players we have here and the mindset that we have here.' Denver went 10-7 last season and reached the playoffs for the first time since 2015. Payton helped the club snap a playoff drought. Now, the next goal is a division title, and ultimately, a Super Bowl victory. Bolles believes they have the right man to take them there. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Kansas City Chiefs are still one of the top Super Bowl contenders in the NFL heading into the 2025 season. Until they're actually defeated, the Chiefs will be one of the main teams to watch. Back for at least one more run are Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. After rumors about his potential retirement, Kelce decided that he could not walk away from the game after losing in the Super Bowl to the Philadelphia Eagles. While he may be back for another run, the reality of the situation is that Kelce does not have much longer left in the NFL. One player in particular has been brought up as a potential target for the Chiefs to be a replacement for Kelce in the future and a high-impact piece for the offense and Mahomes now. Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox has suggested Kansas City as a possible trade destination for Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet. After the Bears used their first-round pick on Michigan tight end Colston Loveland, Kmet could be made available. "The Kansas City Chiefs should also consider taking a flier on Kmet if he's available. Travis Kelce is still holding down the starting job, but he'll turn 36 in October. The Chiefs could view Kmet as a potential successor to Kelce and a great complementary option behind Kelce, along with Noah Gray," Knox wrote. He also noted that there is an intriguing connection between the Chiefs and Kmet that would make a move for the 26-year-old tight end even more intriguing. "It's worth noting Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy coached Kmet for two seasons in Chicago." He appeared in 17 games for Chicago, racking up 47 receptions for 474 yards and four touchdowns. He had a career-best season in 2023 with 73 catches for 719 yards and six scores. Being able to play alongside a quarterback like Mahomes would help take Kmet's production to another level. He may not be as productive as Kelce was during his prime, but he's a more than capable starting NFL tight end. Depending on the price tag, Kansas City should absolutely have interest in Kmet. While this is just an idea, it's one that would make perfect sense for the Chiefs and offer the young tight end a perfect fit. For more Kansas City Chiefs and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.
