KKR Partners With IPL Broadcaster's For A Special Screening Of Mufasa: The Lion King

In a heartwarming initiative that blended cricket with cinematic magic, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the defending champions of the TATA IPL, collaborated with JioHotstar for a special partnership to host an exclusive screening of Mufasa: The Lion King at their camp.
The initiative served as an opportunity for the players to unwind and spend some time together with their families after a high-octane season in the IPL. KKR players including Ajinkya Rahane, Venkatesh Iyer, Rinku Singh, Varun Chakaravarthy, Moeen Ali, Quinton de Kock, Anrich Nortje and Anukul Roy were a part of the special screening alongside their families.
The movie, originally released in December 2024, is now available for streaming on JioHotstar. The family entertainer is also dubbed in Hindi with KKR owner Shah Rukh Khan lending his voice for the lead role, alongside his sons. Aryan Khan voiced Simba in the movie, while Abram Khan voiced young Mufasa.

The screening served as a reminder of the powerful moments that take place off the cricket field, while also imparting plenty of learnings for the children. Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane shared his learnings from the movie, stating, 'This movie teaches kids about values, respect, legacy amongst other things. So, it was a lot of fun to watch with everyone.'
Reflecting on the engaging experience with his teammates and family, Varun Chakaravarthy added, 'It's a brilliant movie. I saw it with my wife and my son, so we had a great time. My son also enjoyed the movie. It's the first time SRK, Aryan and Abram are lending their voices together, so cheers to them. They've done a great job.'
Also expressing her thoughts on the initiative, Binda Dey, Chief Marketing Officer, Knight Riders Sports, 'Watching our Knights unwind and enjoy the film with their cubs was nothing short of magical. It was a beautiful reminder that sometimes, the most powerful moments happen off the pitch.'

Those knocks would have built his reputation as a batsman, but here his knock was him leading by example, doing more for the collective confidence of the dressing room. As compared to the other centurion of the day Jaiswal, Shubman played a much tighter knock. The hallmark of his knock was the way he judged the line of the ball. He didn't curtail his game, he was more judicious in his stroke selection. In an insightful interaction with The Indian Express, on match eve, the great Sachin Tendulkar, had explained in detail the art of run-making in England. The key for a batsman to do well, according to him, was to defend on the front foot. Shubman was doing exactly that. If a collage of the early part of his innings was to be made, it would have several frames of him standing steady in the crease, his body balance, the elbow and legs bent at perfect angle, to tower over the ball to drop it dead at his feet. This is exactly what he trained for when facing Arshdeep and the team's throwdown experts. As Tendulkar had warned, batsmen didn't need to throw their hands at balls that are not driveable. Going back to the nets, he had called the throwers at the side net and asked to bounce the ball towards him. It was an easy routine at the start of his batting, where Shubman was just trying to get his rhythm. In the final session, he exploited the less-guarded leg-side with this stroke. One of them found his bat's sweet spot and it landed outside the boundary for a six. In that final session, the English didn't know what hit them. Pant was in-charge of the evening entertainment at Headingley. On just the second ball of his inning, bowled by England skipper Ben Stokes, he jumped out and hit it over the bowler's head. This was followed by a mid-pitch interaction. Stokes staring blankly at Pant kept smiling. India's vice-captain, almost embarrassed for the insulting shot, took his eyes away and went and had a chat with his skipper. That was the first of the many strokes that the MCC coaching manual would never include. England tried to bowl him short with fielders placed both on the square and fine leg boundary. That didn't make Pant change his plans. He came inside the line of the ball and kept tapping them in the gaps. He even tried his falling-over 'help-along' six over the fine leg. Every time Pant played those ingenious strokes, Stokes would have the same smile of helplessness on his face. The Pant-Shubman partnership was the kind that shatters the spirit of the rival team. Jaiswal, at the press conference after the game, would say that they would want to bat as long as possible and score many more runs. England would hope that they would do the same when their time comes. When that happens, is the question that will bother Stokes.

India opted for a pace-heavy attack with four quicks and a sole spinner in veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja for the series opener at Headingley in Leeds. 'I would have liked Kuldeep Yadav to be in the playing XI. He is your trump card alongside (Jasprit) Bumrah. I would have picked him," Engineer told PTI on Friday, the first day of the opening Test. 'Since he is a quality bowler, England batters would find it difficult to play him. So, I would play him in all five games," he added. 'A few people have written Shubman off, saying he hasn't got runs in England or he can't get runs in England because of his technique, but I beg to disagree. He is a class player." He was particularly impressed with Gill's leadership during the 2025 IPL season, where the opener led Gujarat Titans to the Eliminator. 'Shubman has got this captaincy after the IPL. He captained his team pretty well in the IPL. I thought he showed calmness and made the right decisions—bowling changes and fielding changes. 'So, let's give him a chance and an opportunity because I think he'll do well. Young Bashir, despite a decent Test record, isn't great and can concede runs. Our batsmen excel against off-spin, so they'll capitalise on him," he said. Engineer added that while the retirement of stalwarts Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and R Ashwin has undeniably left a void in the Indian Test setup, it also paves the way for the next generation to step up. 'A player of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin's calibre will undoubtedly be missed, but this creates great opportunities for youngsters like Sai Sudharsan.
