CHINA has offered a rare glimpse of its DF-5 nuclear missile - a 7,500-mile-range weapon with staggering explosive power.
The missile is said to pack hundreds of times the destructive force of the atomic bombs that devastated Hiroshima and Nagasaki, killing tens of thousands in World War II.

Although China has long kept its nuclear programme secret, state broadcaster CCTV revealed key details about the upgraded DF-5B intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) on Monday.
This missile boasts a maximum range of 7,500 miles and an accuracy of 0.3 miles, as per reports by journalist Li Zexin on X.
This range is enough to reach most of Europe and nearly all of the US from launch sites inside China.
For example, the distance between Beijing to London is around 5,000 miles and from China to New York is roughly 7,000 miles.

The DF-5B is said to deliver a yield of three to four megatonnes.
This is about 200 times more powerful than the bomb dropped on Hiroshima in 1945, which had an estimated explosive yield of about 15 kilotonnes of TNT.
It also far surpasses the destructive power of the Nagasaki bomb, which had a yield of around 21 kilotonnes of TNT.
The hi-tech ballistic missile has integrated Multiple Independently Targetable Reentry Vehicle technology - allowing it to carry and release multiple nuclear warheads at once.
A single DF-5B missile can release up to 10 warheads striking different targets across wide areas.
Since each warhead is independent, missile defence systems find it much harder to intercept, making this weapon far more lethal than other known weapons.

CCTV described the missile as China's 'first-generation strategic ICBM'.
The DF-5B, first created in 2015, is an upgraded variant of China's original DF-5 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) which entered service in 1981.
It's unclear why this information was released, but it is believed Beijing wants to showcase its military modernisation and deter potential threats.
It comes just days after China deployed its most dangerous nuclear bombers to a tiny island, as revealed by satellite pictures.
Aerial photos show two hulking H-6 bombers on an airfield on Woody Island in the South China Sea, taken on May 19.
The long-range aircraft date back to the 1950s, and were modelled on Soviet-era warplanes.
But they have been upgraded to carry modern weapons, including hypersonic and nuclear missiles.
They are considered China's most advanced bombers, and this is the first time they've been spotted on the outpost in five years.
US intelligence previously warned that China could seize Taiwan's smaller islands as the first step of a full-scale invasion.
In September 2024, China launched a nuclear-capable missile into the Pacific Ocean, marking the first test in 40 years.
The ICBM was launched by the People's Liberation Army Rocket Force and carried a dummy warhead.
The Chinese defence ministry said in a statement the rocket "fell into expected sea areas," and that it was a "routine arrangement in our annual training plan".
China said the test was not directed at any country or target, and that it "informed the countries concerned in advance", a media report claimed.

The B-2 are the only bombers capable of carrying the terrifying Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP). At the heart of its nuclear program is the Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant, which is encased in steel more than 300 feet beneath solid rock - and has so far escaped serious damage. Almost seven million households claiming the benefit will see their standard allowance rise by more than inflation from April 2026. This means 6.7 million households could receive around £750 more per year in cash by 2030. The standard allowance is the basic payment for households on Universal Credit. Currently, single people under 25 receive £316.98 a month and couples under 25 get £497.55 a month. Meanwhile, single people over 25 get £400.14 a month and couples aged 25 or older receive £628.10 a month. Normally, benefit payments go up each spring to help people keep pace with the rising cost of living, like food, fuel, and household bills. These increases typically match the consumer price index of inflation from the previous September. But, the government has claimed that the four-year benefit freeze from 2015 to 2019 has caused millions of payments to fall behind rising inflation. As a result, from April 2026, the government wants to hike the standard allowance by more than inflation over the next four years. This means that by 2030, the amount a claimant receives will be almost 5% higher than if it had only risen to match inflation. These extra percentages will be set at: 2.3% for 2026-27 3.1% for 2027-28 4.0% for 2028-29 4.8% for 2029-30 The government wants to help more people return to work and rely less on incapacity benefits, which face huge cuts. To save £5billion a year by 2030, it plans to make PIP assessments stricter and freeze the extra health payments in Universal Credit for those unable to work. The government believes that raising the standard allowance for everyone while reducing the health top-up will make returning to work more financially worthwhile and possible. What is the Universal Credit standard allowance? UNIVERSAL Credit is a welfare scheme which was designed to combine several of the old "legacy benefits The standard allowance is the basic monthly payment provided to individuals or families who qualify. The amount you receive depends on your age and whether you're single or in a couple: Single, under 25: £316.98 Single, 25 or over: £400.14 Couple, both under 25: £497.55 Couple, one or both 25 or over: £628.09 You may also be eligible for additional amounts if you have children, have a disability or health condition, or need help with housing costs. Meanwhile, around 400,000 households receiving income-related employment and support allowance (ESA) are being urged to make the move to Universal Credit. The government is progressing with its plans to transfer all legacy benefit claimants onto Universal Credit, through a process referred to as "managed migration." The managed migration process officially began back in July 2022 after a successful pilot in July 2019. Since then, households receiving one of five legacy benefits, have been receiving postal notifications outlining the steps required to transition to Universal Credit. Upon receiving a migration letter, claimants are given up to three months to make the switch. Failure to act within this timeframe could result in the loss of existing benefits. The latest data from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) shows that 381,440 individuals lost their benefits after failing to act within this time frame. Initially, the government planned to transfer all ESA claimants to Universal Credit by the end of 2028. However, this deadline was brought forward to March 2026. It comes as Donald Trump has revealed he has opened a two-week window for talks as he mulls whether America will intervene in the conflict. Trump had previously tried to curb Tehran's sprawling nuclear scheme through diplomacy. He gave Iran's regime 60 days to thrash out a deal - a deadline that passed two days before Israel unleashed unprecedented strikes on Iran's nuke sites last Friday. Trump has this week been weighing whether to give the green light for the US to step in and deploy a 15-ton mega bunker buster bomb. America's intervention has repeatedly been touted by Trump, who warned Iran would suffer the "full strength and might" of his military. But Netanyahu's ex-adviser Nadav Shtrauchler - who told The Sun the Israeli PM was preparing to strike Iran alone days before he did - said the embattled nation is prepared to carry on without the US. He said: "Of course Israel can carry on. "I think it is going swifter here than people thought when they planned it. "So Israel can proceed and have many targets to go through." Strategic adviser Shtrauchler said he believes the conflict will end with an agreement being thrashed out - and said America's involvement could change the course of the conflict. How Trump COULD destroy Iran's prize nuclear bunker US participation would most likely involve strikes against Iran's underground Fordo uranium enrichment facility, considered to be out of reach to all but America's bunker-buster bombs. Shtrauchler added: "It's a different story with the US, both with the military and the geopolitical side. It's a big deal and will change things. "It's going to end with an agreement if the regime does not fall, but it is too soon to know that. "So if the US decides against intervening you wil see more from the Israel side and at some point it will end with an agreement. "It will make an effect and will change the end result. "But for now we can see that Israel is working very well itself and we can proceed like this - not without the US support but without the US intervening." It comes as Israel and Iran continue to trade heavy blows - with no sign of de-escalation in the weeklong battle. Israel's 'Churchill moment' by Katie Davis, Chief Foreign Reporter (Digital) BRITAIN will never be safe until Iran's nuclear scheme is wiped out, Israel's ambassador told The Sun. Tzipi Hotovely said Israel is facing its "Churchill moment" and doing the UK a "huge service" by wiping out the rogue state's efforts to create a nuke weapon. She also rebuked Sir Keir Starmer's calls for de-escalation as she insisted Tel Aviv acted at the "last minute" to save their country from "nuclear holocaust". The PM - who chaired an emergency Cobra meeting this week - has insisted that the UK wants to de-escalate the situation and resolve it through diplomacy. But Amb. Hotovely said Iran had its chance for diplomacy during Donald Trump's 60-day deadline to thrash out a deal over its nuclear programme. And she warned the UK would never be safe until Iran loses any chance of developing a nuke. The diplomat said Israel is facing its "Churchill moment" as Netanyahu finds himself in a similar position as the British wartime leader did in 1940 - drawing the US into a war with its enemy. Speaking to The Sun at its headquarters in London, she said: "When they're calling for de-escalation, you need to understand that the only way to de-escalate the situation is by removing the threat. "As long as Iran will race faster to have its ballistic missile programme that can destroy cities in Israel, if we will let them continue with that, cities in the UK won't be safe." READ THE INTERVIEW HERE European and Iranian officials met yesterday in Geneva, and Trump has said he will allow two weeks for negotiations before deciding whether to strike the rogue nation. Iran's foreign minister Abbas Araghchi made a condition for renewed talks a ceasefire, saying: "There is no room for negotiations with the U.S. until Israeli aggression stops." Talks later on Friday between Araghchi and officials from the EU ended without a breakthrough after four hours. No date was set for the next round of talks, aimed at getting Iran back to the negotiating table with the US. Missiles continued to rain down in Iran and Israel as the talks were held on Friday in a scramble to de-escalate the conflict. Iran previously agreed to limit its uranium enrichment and allow international inspectors access to its nuclear sites under a 2015 deal. But after Trump pulled the US unilaterally out of the deal during his first term, Iran began enriching uranium up to 60 per cent a short, technical step away from weapons-grade levels of 90 per cent. Access was also restricted access to its nuclear facilities. Netanyahu signed off a plot to bomb Iran's nuke facilities last week - killing several of its top generals and nuclear scientists, and striking several nuclear facilities. Iran has retaliated by firing 450 missiles and 1,000 drones at Israel, according to Israeli army estimates. Most have been shot down by Israel's multitiered air defenses, but at least 24 people in Israel have been killed and hundreds wounded.
