Joey Chestnut reveals if he expects to compete at Nathan's hot dog eating contest this summer
Joey Chestnut doesn't seem to think that the fence will be mended with Nathan's and Major League Eating in order for him to return to compete in the famed Fourth of July hot dog eating contest that takes place every year on the Coney Island boardwalk.
Chestnut did not compete in last year's competition after an apparent issue that MLE and Nathan's had over a deal that the famed eater had with another hot dogs brand, Impossible Foods — the plant-based food company that makes vegan hot dogs.
While Chestnut told The Blast he would want to come back, he doesn't expect to get a call to return to the Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest.

'If they came back with similar terms we were talking about last year, I would definitely consider it,' he told the outlet. 'I'd work with them to make sure there weren't any conflicts with other sponsors. … But honestly, I don't think they want to go down that route. And yeah, it's a bummer. I love that contest.'
The Post had exclusively broken the news last year that Chestnut would not be competing in the Nathan's contest due to the spat and that he had been offered $200,000 to compete in last year's contest, along with a $1.2 million, four-year contract going forward.

Chestnut also told The Blast that 'I still don't know exactly where our relationship stands' and that he was 'really surprised' about their reaction to his partnership with Impossible Foods.
The partnership with Impossible Foods had been to promote 'Meatless Mondays,' an initiative that encourages people to try plant-based alternatives and is something that Chestnut said he takes part in.
'It was for Mondays, for people who aren't even eating meat,' he said about the partnership that ended up becoming an issue.

Chestnut, who is a household name, had won the Nathan's hot dog eating contest 16 times, which included winning every year from 2016 until last year, when he did not compete.
He holds the record for most dogs and buns eaten, with 76 during the 2021 contest.

Here's What Parents Should Actually Buy For Summer
A 36-piece set of sidewalk chalk, including 12 tie dye, 12 glitter, and 12 neon styles, so your kids can get their angst out by (legally) tagging your entire patio. There's nothing more gratifying than graffiti if it gets your kids outside for an hour. A set of limited-edition wildflower Band-Aids because summer is the season of scraped knees, and a fun floral Band-Aid provides the quickest pain relief. That's science. I swear. A KitchenAid shaved ice attachment (you read that right!!) for giving your KitchenAid a new job when it's way too hot to be baking. Snow cone season is officially in full swing! An all-terrain stroller so lightweight and compact that it can fit in the overhead bin on a plane. When your kid has been on a flight for hours, waiting for a stroller to be retrieved from storage after you deplane may feel like a millennium. Plus, this stroller can conquer all the cobblestone streets or rocky gravel paths your vacation may take you through! Waldorf woodland creatures — each open-ended shape is designed with holes that'll easily fit different twigs, stems, petals, and leaves you find while on nature walks. If you wanna spend more time outside but need a *purpose* to get yourself on a walk, creating tiny woodland creatures may be just the thing! A mud kitchen for little chefs who would happily spend *hours* preparing literal mud pies for those lucky enough to spend time at their exclusive restaurant. A portable, bladeless stroller fan that has three speeds — this can attach to more than just a stroller, which is great if you find yourself needing to share the fan with your mini-me when your breezy beach vacation seems to be a little light on the breeze. A BabyBjorn Travel Crib small enough when collapsed that it'll fit in a carry-on bag! This is a great option if you're traveling with an infant who would *love* crawling into every nook and cranny of your hotel room. Parents rave about how easy it is to set up and put away, making bedtime easier even on the go. And an inflatable travel bed (with a high-speed pump) for your toddlers and kiddos who have grown out of their pack-n-play phase. Honestly, this is more for you than your child. There's no way you'll get a good night's rest sharing a bed with your youngster. They sleep punch. A hands-free, bladeless, portable neck fan that'll treat you to fans on either side of your neck, pointing up at your face with a gentle breeze that'll feel positively heaven-sent on sunny days. This has five different speeds to choose from, so you know you'll be comfortable no matter how long you're stuck saving a spot for your family before the fourth of July parade. A pack of SPF-sensing stickers so you can blame the sticker when you tell your kids they've gotta stop playing and re-apply. And a refillable roll-on sponge sunscreen applicator sure to make putting on sunscreen (both on your kids *and* on yourself) less of a chore. This goes on fast and blends in easily — no mess required! A Yeti backpack cooler — an investment-worthy piece that'll be *far* easier to carry long distances than a traditional cooler. Keeping yourself hydrated (or full of spiked seltzer) might be the only way to keep yourself out in the sun on your next family vacation. A pack of children's Dramamine you should definitely hand out as a precaution before getting in the car this summer if your kids get motion sick easily. When I was a child, my parents referred to our car as the "vomit comet." Don't let your kids christen your car with a similar nickname. A flexible, adjustable mister that'll help you keep your cool when some fresh air would do you good, but the heat makes you hide inside. It'll cool the surrounding area by up to 20 degrees, so it doesn't have to be *sweltering* while you enjoy some sun. A sea turtle Hugaround — a weighted doll designed with heavy flippers so it can "hug" and cling to your kiddo, even staying on them while walking around! This sweet pal is both microwavable and freezable, so if your kid is sick of hot weather, you can toss it in the freezer and help them chill out! If summer travel means your babe is sleeping in places they aren't used to, having this extra cozy pal around may be just the thing they need! A stick-on shade to block the sun's bright rays and *hopefully* make nap time easier in the backseat. A road trip sans temper tantrums is about as comfortable as things get. A pack of spill-proof Munchkin snack catchers so your toddler can have all their snacks at once, without turning the backseat into a sandbox full of crushed-up fish crackers. A travel brush with a hidden compartment sure to be the family travel hack you didn't know you needed. The back of this brush has room for the hair accessories you know will get lost or forgotten because they're so darn tiny. Pack a brush for each child with their own necessities stored inside, and you're all set! Everyone is going to look *great* in the family photos. A Lugabug travel seat — this game-changing "chair" can attach to a carry-on suitcase so your tiny toddler isn't dragging their feet past every Cinnabon in the airport on the way to your gate. There are... so many Cinnabons. A pair of GeoSafari Jr. binoculars your observant, pint-sized bird watcher is sure to adore. A car baby monitor (with a spiffy 14,000+ 5-star reviews!) that'll help you instantly know what's going on with your baby in the backseat without adjusting mirrors or turning back to see what's going on (when the car is stopped, of course). Stay safe on the road with your little one, and keep them *easily* within sight! A clip-on umbrella with UPF 50 protection and *swivel* abilities, so you can turn any chair into a shady spot while out and about. Reviewers have also used this with wagons, strollers, wheelchairs, and electric scooters! A hip seat sling that'll feel much cooler than having your child against your chest like in traditional carriers. If your kid cries as if the floor is lava when you try getting them to walk on their own, this side sling is a brilliant way to carry them on a hot day. A mosquito repellent sure to save you from being *bugged* by mosquitoes while lounging around on your patio. This creates a 15-foot personal bug-free bubble to have you feeling FREE from those dang pests. A lightweight, fast-drying towel — this repels sand instead of attracting it like most beach towels do, so you won't get covered in sand while lounging on the beach! PLUS it's ultra absorbent, so you'll dry off fast after a plunge in the water. Grab one of these and you can make a day at the beach finally feel like, well, a day at the beach! A portable lock box to keep your necessities secure when you're napping in the sand. It's designed to attach around two beach chairs, so you won't have a nagging worry about your wallet/phone getting stolen while trying to relax. A bubble toy lawn mower that'll be a hit with your kiddo if they love working in the yard right alongside you. Watch them bubble up inside with excitement as this little gadget blows actual bubbles all over the yard! Ugh. I wish mine did that. A Coola scalp and hair sunscreen mist with SPF 30 so you don't get dandruff and dry skin peeling from a sunburned hair part. Not only will it help prevent sunburns, but it's also formulated to protect your hair from sun damage. Use this as the finishing touch on your daily haircare and you're gonna be g2g! Great. A Cruiser City from Veer that'll make packing up and heading out the door on summer days SO much easier. There's room for an entire day's worth of necessities in this wagon — so no need to be carrying heavy coolers or giant beach bags while *also* strolling your kid through the sand! This is designed with swivel wheels furthest from the handle, meaning you can push it like a stroller while still getting all the benefits of a ride-on wagon! This is a truly game-changing way to explore the world with your kids. Plus, it has cup holders. A budget-friendly 3-in-1 sprinkler, splash pad, and wading pool decorated with colors, letters, and numbers so learning isn't just an indoor activity. Plus, this thing looks so satisfying that on a hot day, you might just join in with your kids! Or Twister Splash for fun-loving families who are more than happy to slip, slide, and laugh their way through a super-sprinkler version of this classic game. A sand removal bag so you can "dust off" you and your kids before everyone gets into the car after a day at the beach. The bag is filled with a talc-free, reef-friendly powder that will ensure the sand stays outside, where it belongs. A four-pack of reusable water bomb balloons for families who would gladly have water balloon fights every day if their resources would magically replenish. Look at you, making summer magic happen. An anti-blister balm that'll keep you from feeling de-feet-ed by painful blisters that come from sweaty feet during the long walking tours you have planned during your summer vacation. A bag of protein coffee I am literally drinking as we speak (peep the picture below, I'm not lying!) for people who are *great* about drinking their morning coffee and terrible about getting in 1) breakfast and 2) enough protein. This stuff is going so viral, I'm surprised it's ever in stock. And it makes sense, because this is the 2-in-1 we've all been waiting for.
