St Tropez has launched a fake tan and bronzing drops hybrid – here's my review
While some relegate their body fake tan to the back of the bathroom cabinet come winter, a facial tanner remains a year-round essential for most. These glow-getting formulas give you post-holiday radiance, despite being bundled up in knitwear.
Whether it's a cream from the likes of Tan Luxe or Isle of Paradise's cult drops (designed to be mixed with your moisturiser), there are plenty of products promising to achieve an effortless sun-kissed glow.
But, when it comes to an instant pick-me-up, tints and bronzing drops are an increasingly popular choice. The craze began with Drunk Elephant's D-bronzi drops, which could barely stay in stock last year. Other brand's quickly followed, with Elf and Isle of Paradise's bronzing formulas becoming bestsellers for the respective brands.
Now, St Tropez has launched its own take. Founded in 1984, St Tropez is a leading brand in the beauty world. Chances are every fake tan fan has dabbled with one of its formula over the years, whether it's the flagship mousse or gradual lotion.
For the brand's latest launch, it has created a hybrid bronzing drops and fake tan formula that gives skin an immediate glow, but develops into a deeper tan over three hours. In short, it claims to offer the best of both worlds.
How we tested
A self-proclaimed fake tan obsessive (I fake tan every Wednesday, year-round, come rain or shine), I had to try the new St Tropez formula. I wanted to see how it compares to Drunk Elephant's D-bronzi drops, which I use every morning. Testing the immediate glow the sunlit tint offers, I also assessed how nicely it developed throughout the day. Plus, I considered ease-of-application, how the formula looked and felt on my skin, and the benefits of the new contouring tan brush (£20, Boots.com), which the brand recommends using to help apply the tint. Here's my verdict.
Why you can trust us

Dele Alli cuts a sporty figure as he steps out for some luxury shopping in Milan with mystery Cindy Kimberly lookalike - just weeks after they split
Dele Alli was spotted enjoying a day out in Milan with a mystery woman on Thursday just weeks after splitting from his ex of three years Cindy Kimberly. The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, 29 - who now plies his trade at Italian outfit Como - and his model ex, 26, confirmed they had called time on their relationship earlier this month. After fans spotted she had deleted a host of pictures of them from her Instagram, Cindy confirmed her and Dele had broken up, telling GSM: 'We've been separate for a little while already.' Just weeks after their split was made public, Dele was spotted strolling around downtown Milan with a mystery companion on Thursday. Clad in an eye-catching light blue Nike tracksuit, Dele enjoyed an afternoon of luxury shopping with the mystery brunette - who looked strikingly similar to his ex Cindy. Joined by a few friends at high-fashion outlets Goyard and Loro Piana, she sported a pair of beige shorts and a white blouse for the outing and covering her eyes with dark shades. While Dele was in Milan, Cindy had jetted off to St. Tropez for a getaway with her pal Chantel Jeffries after her break-up with the footballer. Dele and Cindy first confirmed their romance in 2022 while he was still playing in England for Everton. After signing for Serie A club Como in January in a bid to get his career back on track, Cindy moved out to northern Italy with Dele. They had appeared smitten since relocating, with the Sports Illustrated cover star posting pictures of her and Dele together on multiple occasions. Cindy had been a rock for the footballer, who in 2023 opened up on his traumatic childhood, which included being sexually abused as young as the age of six. She also stood by him as he revealed his addiction to sleeping pills and his mental health issues in an incredibly raw interview with Gary Neville. Rumours of a split however began circulating earlier this month after Cindy deleted a host of pictures of the couple together, including one taken in April of them soaking in the Como sun. A short time later she confirmed the pair's split, telling GSM that they had been apart for some time. Despite moving to Como in an attempt to revitalise his career ahead of next summer's World Cup, things haven't gone as Dele had likely planned since his Italian move. During the ex-Spurs midfielder's only appearance for his new side this season away at AC Milan, he was shown a red card for a reckless challenge on Englishman Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Dele lasted just 10 mins - his only appearance in more than two years - on his debut for Como, with manager Cesc Fabregas lambasting the footballer for his 'grave mistake' post-match. 'Dele Alli is a player who can score goals,' Fabregas told DAZN. 'He perhaps didn't deserve this opportunity because he has only been working with us for two weeks and has a lot to improve. 'It is a grave mistake, one that we should not see from a player of his experience. 'It was a clear red card, there's nothing to be said about that, he left the team down to 10 men during a crucial moment when we were pushing for 2-2. 'That is the most negative thing about this evening, but we keep going.'

TRAVEL: How to spend a weekend in sunny St Tropez
FRIDAY 4pm An hour's drive from Nice airport, I arrive at my hotel Arev (from £495 per night, in St Tropez. The name is a play on the French word for dream, rêve – and what a dream it is. My room has a garden view, Japanese Toto toilet and Dyson hairdryer. 7pm At Fondugues Pradugues, a natural wine domain in the neighbouring village of Ramatuelle, we try organic red and rosé wines at Le Chai, its restaurant overlooking the vines. Chef Valentine Costuna whips up a four-course tasting menu (£105pp, SATURDAY 8am The view of the heated outdoor pool tempts me out of my canopy bed and into my swimsuit. After working up an appetite, I slip into something a little more breakfast-appropriate, grab a table in the shade and enjoy the eggs benedict (served on a waffle). 11am A stroll away, at place des Lices (from the medieval word for jousting ground), is the town square's famous market (held on Tuesdays and Saturdays, from 8am to 1pm), where I check out the local delicacies and browse the antiques, linen wear and basket bags. 1pm Lunch is at The Strand, an old St Tropez favourite brought back to life by Arev with the help of famous French hospitality brand Bagatelle. I opt for the avocado salad with raspberries, and leave room for the tarte tropézienne, a cream-filled brioche bun. 3pm Time to recline by the pool while I await a full-body massage. With just two treatment rooms and a hammam, appointments at the spa are coveted. I tell the therapist about my 'tech neck' and she adapts our 50-minute session. Afterwards, I feel re-energised. 8pm Insta-hot bohemian interiors, plenty of outdoor seating and live music – there are lots of reasons locals flock to Le Café, but its unpretentious brasserie food tops the list. I have the shredded crab (£30) and filet de bœuf with peppercorn sauce (£45, SUNDAY 9am Anyone for padel? After brushing up on my backhand skills on the hotel's courts, I walk into town to enjoy a delicious, if pricey, iced vanilla matcha latte (£6.75) and pain suisse (£10), from Cedric Grolet & Airelles ( to tide me over until lunch.

St. Tropez' new Express Face Tint hailed the summer essential for glowing skin
Metro journalists select and curate the products that feature on our site. If you make a purchase via links on this page we will earn commission – learn more We have trialled and tested a whole host of fake tans for the body, including instant and gradual tans, as well as fake tans for the face. We have also sampled numerous bronzing drops, as well as bronzers, contours – any beauty product that will give our skin a sunkissed bronzed glow. But we think we have found the cream of the crop – St. Tropez' Express Sunlit Face Tint. The St. Tropez Express Sunlit Face Tint has got our golden seal of approval because it is a hybrid of a fake tan for the face, bronzing drops, contour stick, bronzer, and freckle pen, all in one. It has even been coined a 'TT cream', meaning a tint to tan solution, which may just change how we apply tan forever more. Formulated with DHA this no-rinse Face Tint is a one of a kind face tan that leaves your skin naturally sunkissed. It develops within one hour, but reaches its maximum at three hours. It doesn't need to be washed off, does not smell, and features a narrow nozzle for controlled application. Buy Now FOR £29 The Express Sunlit Face Tint is the first of its kind because it offers a longer lasting bronzed glow than bronzing drops, or even some face tan drops and mists we have tried. Unlike bronzing drops, like Drunk Elephants bestselling D-Bronzi Drops, the St. Tropez creation has been formulated with DHA, which is the key to developing the sunkissed complexion achieved with fake tans. As you may know, bronzing drops easily wash off after use, but this Face Tint doesn't. Yes there are face tan mists, serums, drops, but this tan is different as it is fast acting and helps achieve instant bronze, which is also longlasting. In just one hour you will notice a medium natural-looking tan, though you can leave on for a maximum of three hours to fully develop. Another rare feature is this hero glow stops developing after those three hours and it is a no-rinse formula. So, while some may prefer to wash off when you're ready you don't have to, which is great for those who forget to rinse off your tan as you won't be left with a two-tone face and body, or suffer a Ross from Friends moment. The dream! This formulation is quick drying, which is another pull factor for those on the go as you can slip your clothes on straight away without fear of any stains on your clothes or bedsheets. You can wear the Face Tint on its own, or under make-up, which is another reason why it's perfect for the summer months and on holiday so you don't sweat off your make-up. More Trending The tan lasts for a number of days, though this can depend on how thoroughly (or aggressive) you cleanse your skin. Of course, an abrasive cleanser, harsh flannel and exfoliant could cause this product to rub off quicker. The list of features we love about this Face Tint is endless. The applicator is a narrow funnel which makes it easy to manage the product and application, while also avoiding any waste. The narrowness also means you can apply precisely to certain areas of the face, or on a brush and buff into the skin. While some apply all over the face and neck, it can also be used on the hands, feet too. Plus, it can be applied on specific areas to act as a semi-permanent contour. Simply apply on a brush and sweep under the cheekbones, forehead, chin and jawline, leave for an hour (or longer), and you will look chiselled in an instant, and all day long. The same hack can be applied if you want to achieve faux freckles. It's a genius, multi-purpose and affordable product we love, and think you will too. It's unknown how long the discount price will last for, but we urge you to shop quickly, especially now summer is here this hero buy will fly off the shelves.
