SalamAir announces fixed Khareef season fares for Omanis
Muscat – SalamAir, the Sultanate's budget airline, has introduced exclusive fixed fares for Omani citizens travelling between Muscat and Salalah during the Khareef season, from June 30 to August 31, 2025.
Omani nationals can now book one-way tickets for OMR 30 and return tickets for OMR 48, as part of an initiative aimed at making travel during the popular monsoon season more affordable.
'This initiative reflects SalamAir's commitment to supporting domestic tourism and offering greater value to our Omani customers,' said Adrian Hamilton-Manns, Chief Executive Officer of SalamAir. 'We are proud to provide loyal customers with cost-effective travel options while showcasing the natural beauty of Salalah.'
In anticipation of increased travel demand during the season, the airline has announced a 50% increase in capacity on the Muscat–Salalah route compared to summer 2024, ensuring ample availability of seats.
These fixed fares are available exclusively for Omani citizens booking via the SalamAir website or mobile app. Passengers must present a valid Omani ID at check-in or at the boarding gate to avail of the offer.
SalamAir currently operates a fleet of 13 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft, serving more than 80 flights daily. The airline is set to expand further in July 2025 with the delivery of two additional aircraft. Earlier this year, it confirmed an order for 10 new aircraft, with plans to grow its fleet to 25 by 2028.

Khareef season officially begins today
SALALAH, June 20 The Sultanate of Oman officially welcomes the start of its annual Khareef Dhofar Season in Dhofar Governorate today — a unique climate phenomenon in the Arabian Peninsula that transforms the southern region of the country into a lush green paradise between June and September each year. Extending from the coastal town of Dhalkout in the west to Mirbat in the east, the season is driven by southwest monsoon winds that bring light rains, mist and cooler temperatures to the Dhofar mountains and plains. This natural shift turns the rugged desert landscape into verdant valleys, making Dhofar one of the most sought-after summer destinations in the Gulf. As visitors from Oman and abroad flock to the region, the country's civil aviation sector has announced full operational readiness across all airports and airlines to ensure smooth and safe travel to Salalah, the administrative centre of Dhofar. Oman Airports, Oman Air, SalamAir and the Civil Aviation Authority are coordinating closely to manage increased air traffic, introduce more daily flights and expand services during peak weeks in July and August. Omani cookbook wins two global awards at Gourmand event
By OUR CORRESPONDENT Muscat – Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has won two international awards for its publication The Omani Cuisine at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards held in Lisbon, Portugal. The Gourmand awards are among the most prominent global events celebrating the best books in culinary arts and food culture. The ministry's participation showcased Oman's culinary heritage through its book, produced in collaboration with Sultan Qaboos University. At a ceremony attended by culinary experts and industry figures from around the world, Oman won the 'Best Book in the World' award in the Culinary Diplomacy category and 'Best Cookbook in the World' award in the Intangible Cultural Heritage category. Officials said the achievement highlights efforts to document and promote Omani cuisine as an integral part of the nation's cultural and heritage identity. Asma bint Salem al Hajri, Tourism Promotion Expert at the ministry, said the participation reflects ongoing work to enhance the reputation of Omani cuisine regionally and internationally. She noted that traditional Omani food plays a key role in cultural tourism and showcases the depth of Omani civilisation. The ministry's activities at the event included a visual presentation and a tasting session, giving attendees insight into Omani dishes, their ingredients and preparation.
