The airport was named the 'World's Cleanest Airport' amongst airports handling up to 25 million passengers annually, the 'Middle East's Cleanest Airport,' and recognized as the 'World's Best Airport Serving 5-10 Million Passengers.' These top honors reflect BIA's commitment to delivering an exceptional travel experience for passengers and maintaining world-class standards across all aspects of airport operations. In addition, Bahrain International Airport earned several other notable rankings at the 2025 Skytrax World Airport Awards, further solidifying its reputation as a global leader in passenger experience. BIA achieved 3rd place for the World's Best Immigration Service, reflecting its efficient and customer-focused immigration processes, and ranked 3rd among the Best Airports in the Middle East, highlighting its leadership in regional airport excellence. Furthermore, BIA secured 4th place globally for the World's Best Airport for Baggage Delivery, demonstrating its dedication to providing reliable and seamless baggage handling services. BIA was also ranked 5th in the World's Most Family-Friendly Airports category, showcasing its commitment to creating a welcoming environment for families. The awards were presented at the World Airport Awards held at Passengers Terminal Expo in Madrid, Spain on April 09, 2025. The accolades were accepted by BAC's Vice President of Facility Management, Eyad Ismaeel, who represented BIA at the ceremony. THE 2025 WORLD AIRPORT AWARDS The World Airport Awards are the most prestigious accolades for the airport industry, voted by customers in the largest annual global airport customer satisfaction survey. The awards are recognized as the quality benchmark for the world airport industry, assessing customer service and facilities across over 500 airports. The 2025 Awards are based on the World Airport Survey questionnaires completed by over 100 nationalities of airport customers during the survey period from August 2024 to February 2025. The survey evaluates the customer experience across all front-line areas of airport service and facilities, from check in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security/immigration through to departure at the gate.

Promoting Global Collaboration and Innovation On the sidelines of the air show, Dr. Sheikh Abdullah held a series of meetings with representatives from international delegations and major aviation companies. Key Agreements for Bahrain International Airport During the exhibition, three important Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed to upgrade Bahrain International Airport and its services. These include: An MoU with French engineering firm Artelia to improve operational readiness and air traffic transition (ORAT). An agreement with Texel Air to expand aircraft maintenance hangars. A partnership with Vallo Aviation to develop facilities for private jets and VIP aircraft services. Strengthening Gulf Cooperation In a significant regional gesture, Dr. Sheikh Abdullah also welcomed Saudi Arabia's Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, and the head of the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation, Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, at Bahrain's official chalet. They discussed ways to deepen aviation cooperation within the Gulf and boost joint initiatives in air transport. Outreach to Global Industry Leaders The minister also met with leaders from major aviation companies including Airbus, Thales, and Safran, to explore collaboration with Gulf Air and to extend invitations to participate in the upcoming Bahrain International Airshow. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Bahrain Airport Company and Valo Aviation to develop specialized maintenance and ground service facilities for private jets at Bahrain International Airport. The agreement was signed in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, who emphasized Bahrain's ongoing commitment to modernizing the private aviation sector. He said the initiative aligns with the Kingdom's broader strategy to create a more dynamic and investor-friendly operating environment, which contributes to economic diversification. 'Our goal is to position Bahrain as a key hub for private aviation in the region,' said the Minister. 'Developing dedicated infrastructure and services will enhance Bahrain International Airport's ability to serve high-end clients and operators, making the Kingdom even more attractive to international investors.' TDT | Manama Bahraini pilgrims have begun their journey home after completing the sacred rites of Hajj, with the first group departing Makkah tomorrow in a return marked by peace, humility and well-coordinated logistics. The final group is set to return by air on the 11th of this month. Officials said the homecoming of pilgrims through Bahrain International Airport and King Fahd Causeway is being closely monitored by the Bahraini Hajj Mission to ensure a smooth and safe reception. Seamless return His Excellency Shaikh Adnan bin Abdullah Al-Qattan, Head of the Bahrain Hajj Mission, praised the joint efforts of relevant authorities who had put in place early preparations for the pilgrims' return. He said the coordination between agencies reflected Bahrain's strong commitment to supporting the faithful from departure to return. Al-Qattan extended special thanks to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their care and attention to the wellbeing of Bahraini pilgrims throughout the Hajj season. He also expressed deep appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its leadership - HM King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince HRH Mohammed bin Salman - for their exceptional organisation and support in hosting millions of pilgrims this year. 'Their efforts made it possible for the Guests of God to perform Hajj with ease and tranquillity,' Al-Qattan noted. Campaign organisers accompanying Bahraini pilgrims shared similar praise for the mission's role, thanking the government and volunteers for their presence and support at every stage of the journey.
