Saudi Tourism Minister Unveils 2025 ‘Saudi Summer' Program

Minister of Tourism and Chairman of the Saudi Tourism Authority, Ahmed Al-Khateeb, officially launched the 2025 edition of the 'Saudi Summer' program under the theme Colour Your Summer during a workshop event held Saturday by the Authority. 'Saudi Summer' Program
The event convened more than 120 stakeholders from across Saudi Arabia's tourism landscape, including representatives from both the public and private sectors. The collaborative workshop served as a platform to coordinate efforts ahead of the summer season, ensuring alignment on strategic objectives and maximizing the initiative's economic and tourism potential.
Set to run from May through September 2025, the program will spotlight six diverse destinations—ranging from the temperate coastal getaways of Jeddah and the Red Sea, to the cool mountain retreats of Taif, Al-Baha, and Aseer.
Esports World Cup (EWC)
Key events this summer include the Esports World Cup (EWC) in Riyadh, taking place from July to August, as well as the lively Jeddah and Aseer Seasons, featuring a rich mix of cultural events, entertainment, and promotional campaigns.
'Bringing together our partners each year through this workshop is a testament to our shared commitment to shaping the future of the Saudi tourism industry,' said Minister Al-Khateeb.
'This year, we are particularly proud to see the private sector investing over SAR 300 million in preparation for what promises to be a spectacular summer season. Saudi Arabia's remarkable culture and natural diversity continue to captivate international travelers while energizing our domestic tourism market,' he added.
The Minister emphasized that the summer season represents more than just peak travel—it is a pivotal opportunity for innovation and growth in the sector. 'Our goal this year is to welcome over 41 million visitors from 18 countries and generate SAR 73 billion in tourism spending. These targets underscore the Kingdom's rise as a premier global destination, offering exceptional experiences throughout the year.'
Fahd Hamidaddin, CEO of the Saudi Tourism Authority, highlighted the transformative impact of the program: 'Saudi is redefining global summer travel. Moreover, the support of over 120 partners, we are launching more than 600 unique tourism products and experiences, alongside over 250 exclusive offers.' Shebara, Umhat Islands
He added, 'From the untouched beauty of Shebara and Umhat islands in the Red Sea, to luxury openings like St. Regis and Desert Rock, five new beaches in Jeddah, and the scenic escapes of Aseer, Taif, and Al-Baha—Saudi Arabia is curating a vibrant and unforgettable summer for every traveler.'
Finally, the theme Colour Your Summer captures the dynamic range of Saudi Arabia's tourism offerings. From coastal and mountain destinations to global events and curated experiences, the program is designed to appeal to a wide spectrum of visitors, positioning the Kingdom as a top-tier travel destination.

Meanwhile, inbound tourism spending in 2024 surged to SAR168.5 billion, up 19% from the previous year. The Ministry of Tourism noted that this remarkable success was mainly driven by the efforts and support of the Saudi leadership in line with the Saudi Vision 2030. As for domestic tourism, the ministry reported noticeable growth with 86.2 million domestic tourists in 2024, representing a 5% increase compared to 2023. Ahmed Al-Rajhi said that the Saudi employee engagement indicators for the year 2024 has achieved tangible positive results. "The employee engagement rate for public sector employees reached 83.4 percent, exceeding the set annual target of 76.5 percent. This reflects growing institutional awareness and the authorities' keenness to improve work environments and promote a culture of professional commitment," he said while addressing the annual ceremony of honoring government agencies that achieved the highest levels of employee engagement in 2024. The minister presented the Employee Engagement Award to nine government agencies during the ceremony, which was attended by several government officials and representatives of government agencies. In his speech, Al-Rajhi emphasized that the Employee Engagement Program embodies the interest and support of the wise leadership for the public sector. "This program reflects the ministry's commitment to strengthening the role of human capital as a fundamental pillar in the transition to a more efficient government work environment. The program contributes to consolidating a sense of belonging and initiative, raising the quality of services provided to beneficiaries, and enhancing performance efficiency," he said. Al-Rajhi reviewed the most notable achievements during 2024, such as the Cabinet's approval of the National Program for Succession and Leadership Development, the launch of the Promising Leaders Program, the qualification of more than 120 government leaders through academic programs and leadership forums, the launch of the engineering salary scale regulations, and the launch of several electronic services that contribute to supporting corporate governance in the government sector. Deputy Minister for Human Capital Development Fahad Al-Drees made a presentation on the Employee Engagement Measurement Initiative, which included a comprehensive assessment of levels of satisfaction and professional commitment. He also introduced the "Motivating Work Environment Program" and the "Institutional Engagement Platform," which enables government agencies to monitor moral performance indicators and improve motivation strategies. The ceremony included panel discussions and a presentation of several success stories in the field of employee engagement within government agencies. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has won first place in the government ministries category, while the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing came in second, and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology emerged third. In the institutions, councils, and public bodies category, the National Competitiveness Center bagged the first place, the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property came in second, and the General Authority for Endowments bagged the third place. In the educational and training institutions category, Al-Majmaa University has won first place, followed by Najran University, and Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University. It is noteworthy that the Career Engagement Program is one of the strategic initiatives of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development. It aims to promote a culture of high performance, create a positive competitive environment among government agencies, and encourage the exchange of best practices in the field of human capital management and development.
