Fraudster Sells "Question Paper" Ahead Of NEET Exam In Bihar, Arrested

The police arrested a person from Bihar's Araria district for his alleged involvement in duping medical aspirants ahead of the NEET-UG held on May four across the country.
The arrested fraudster was accused of providing the "question paper" of the exam to the aspirants in exchange for money, the police said on Monday.
The sleuths of the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) and Araria Police picked up the accused on May 3.
"Acting on a tip-off that a group of fraudsters were allegedly taking money from NEET aspirants, falsely promising them to provide question paper ahead of the exam, EOU alerted its cyber unit in Araria and the district police. A team was formed and SK Faiz was arrested for duping medical aspirants," the EOU said in a statement.
Investigations also revealed that the accused defrauded students and got money transferred to his account from them, it said.
Further investigation is on, it added.
The Bhar police had warned aspirants and parents against phone calls made by cyber fraudsters luring them to provide question papers ahead of the NEET-UG exam.
The EOU last month arrested Sanjeev Kumar Singh alias Sanjeev Mukhiya, the alleged mastermind of the NEET (UG)-24 paper leak case from Patna. He was also wanted in connection with his alleged involvement in the paper leak case of the Bihar Public Service Commission Teacher Recruitment Exam (TRE-3) held in March 2024.
According to officials, Mukhiya's gang is spread across Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan and it was behind paper leaks in several recruitment exams in several states.

In a case of real life drawing inspiration from celluloid, a medical student allegedly appeared as a proxy for a candidate in the NEET-UG 2023 exam, resulting in the latter's admission to the MBBS course, à la "Munnabhai MBBS". The federal probe agency has booked both under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita.(PTI) Officials on Monday said the CBI has booked Vikash, a resident of Rajasthan's Jalore district, who allegedly appeared for Praveen Godara of Jodhpur in the NEET-UG held on May 7, 2023, at the Kendriya Vidyalaya in Sector 12, Dwarka, here. Godara has also been named as an accused in the FIR. Vikash, who was in the second year of his MBBS course at Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar Medical College in Sirohi, allegedly mimicked Godara's signature and handwriting on the NEET-UG 2023 attendance and answer sheets, the officials said. He allegedly went on to qualify for the examination as a proxy, securing a seat for Godara in the MBBS course at the Government Institute of Medical Sciences in Uttar Pradesh's Noida. "It has also been ascertained that both are presently pursuing the MBBS course at their respective medical colleges," an official said. The federal probe agency has booked them under Indian Penal Code sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 419 (cheating by impersonation), and 467 (forgery), among others, and corresponding Sections of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, the FIR stated. NEET-UG is conducted by the National Testing Agency for admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and other related courses in government and private institutions in which millions of students appear.

Special court grants bail to 2 men booked by CBI for defrauding NEET UG 2025 aspirants
A special court has granted bail to two individuals arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for allegedly being involved in defrauding aspiring NEET candidates by falsely promising to manipulate their NEET UG 2025 scores in exchange of money. The accused — Sandeep Jawahar Shah, a resident of Solapur, and Salim Khubbuddin Patel, a resident of Navi Mumbai — were arrested in Mumbai and Sangli earlier this month. As per the CBI, it discovered that the two were involved in duping NEET candidates and their parents by falsely claiming to have connections with officials of the National Testing Agency (NTA) that conducts the examination. As per the CBI, Shah initially demanded Rs 90 lakh from each candidate and agreed to accept Rs 87.5 lakh per candidate. The central agency claimed that Shah and Patel would assure candidates that they would receive details of their purportedly increased marks six hours before the official declaration of results. The accused sought to be released on bail on the grounds that probe was completed and their custodial interrogation was not required. The pleas claimed that there was no recovery at the instance of the applicants and they'll co-operate with the trial after being released on bail. The CBI, however, opposed the pleas stating that the same be rejected as there other accused persons are yet to be arrested and therefore the custodial interrogation of present applicants would be required. However, special judge VP Desai observed that till date (on June 21) 'the investigating officer has nothing concrete to show that till what period the other accused will be arrested'. Merely because the other accused persons are yet to be arrested cannot be a ground for rejection of the bail, the judge added. The court further noted that offence under section 7(A) of Prevention of the Corruption (PC) Act is not punishable in imprisonment of life or death AND punishment prescribed is not less than three years but will extend to seven years. 'Nothing is brought on record against the applicant that he will not be available for trial. Hence discretion in the nature of bail can be exercised in the favour of applicants,' the court held and granted bail to the two on furnishing personal bond of Rs 50,000 each along with other terms and conditions.

Man Beats 17-Year-Old Daughter To Death For Low Marks In NEET Mock Test
Sangli, Maharashtra: She scored 92.60 per cent - marks many students aspire to get - in her Class 10 board exams. More than a year later, she was killed by her father for scoring low marks in a mock test. Sadhna Bhonsle - from Maharashtra's Sangli - was preparing for pre-medical test, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET, and was taking mock tests for it. She scored low marks in her practice tests, which angered her father, Dhondiram Bhonsle, a school teacher. In his anger, he thrashed the 17-year-old repeatedly with a stick. The Class 12 student was seriously injured due to the beating, and she died in a hospital on Friday. The father, who has reportedly confessed to beating her daughter, has been arrested. Sadhana Bhonsle had suffered head injuries in the assault. She was rushed to Ushakal Hospital in Sangli, but she died before she could get treatment. "The girl's mother had filed a complaint at the police station on June 22, stating that her husband had beaten her up due to low marks, resulting in her death at the hospital. The accused father has been arrested and is in police custody till June 24. The case is under investigation," said police.
