‘Zero corruption' is the ultimate goal, says Naidu
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu instructed the officials to identify areas where corruption was occurring in the implementation of government schemes and programmes, and take immediate action after duly probing the incidents with zero corruption as the ultimate goal.
Addressing a review meeting at his camp office on Saturday on public feedback received over the last year on various schemes through IVRS and CSDS surveys, Mr. Naidu said the people were by and large satisfied, but there was no room for complacency as the government could not afford to let them down as far as their expectations were concerned, and warned that corruption at any level and in any department would not be tolerated.
He suggested that a technical audit be conducted on the survey process and steps taken to improve satisfaction in areas having low feedback, and called for prioritising 10 major public issues such as welfare, employment generation, and roads.
Mr. Naidu instructed the officials to conduct Job Melas in all the 175 constituencies, and to make all government services available through WhatsApp Governance by August 15.
He also wanted better delivery mechanisms that would ensure the supply of ration goods to the disabled and elderly citizens at their doorstep, and sought opinion-gathering on the implementation of the Public Distribution System.

Dravidian University in Kuppam faces backlash for selling trees, sparking environmental concerns
Dravidian University in Kuppam is now caught in a row over the alleged indiscriminate felling of trees on its 1,100-acre campus. Established in 1997 with a mission to promote Dravidian languages, culture and heritage, in coordination with the southern States of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala, the university is facing severe public criticism that the administration is selling mature trees to private parties in Karnataka since a couple of months. Srinivasavanam project The campus is known for its lush greenery and panoramic view of hillocks surrounded by dense woods. The Srinivasavanam project, a unique initiative sponsored by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), is credited with the success of the greenery story on the campus for more than a decade. The green and healthy trees are now being chopped down and disposed to private parties at cheaper rates ₹3,000 per tonne, as against ₹5,000 per tonne five years ago. Since April, the drive is said to have generated a revenue of ₹7 lakh this way. A senior official of the university defended the move, saying that a severe financial crunch along with poor financial support from the governments of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala prompted the university administration to resort to felling of trees, at least to generate minimum funds. The official maintained that funds meant for the maintenance of greenery on the campus, ₹50 lakh per annum from the TTD, are now being used to meet the escalating electricity bills. On the flip side, the university officials are said to have used a partial amount from the proceeds of tree felling to purchase two vehicles to manage campus upkeep. Nature lovers cry foul Nature lovers and local youth of Kuppam, who are accustomed to frequenting the panoramic landscapes in and around the university, deplored that the felling of healthy trees is a brazen act of ecological rupture. A revenue official in Kuppam said that though efforts were made to dissuade the university management from stopping the felling of trees, no concrete measures have been initiated to stop the destruction. A couple of NGOs in Chittoor district said that they would take the issue to the notice of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who has been the MLA of Kuppam since 1989, and demand a high-level inquiry into the environmental damage on the university campus.

Achievement belongs to every citizen, says Andhra CM over record-breaking Yoga event
Amaravati: After the Yogandhra event at Visakhapatnam on the 11th International Day of Yoga created a new Guinness Book of World Record, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said this achievement belongs to every citizen of Andhra Pradesh. A total of 3,00,105 people participated in the event organised by the Government of India. This set the record for the largest yoga lesson ever. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the event by performing the Common Yoga Protocol with the participants at the RK Beach. He was joined by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, and Central and state ministers. The event was held on a 28-km stretch from RK Beach to Bhogapuram. It broke the record set in 2023 in Surat, which hosted a Yoga session with 1.47 lakh participants at one location. Reacting to a tweet by Guinness World Records on Sunday, Chief Minister Naidu posted that this achievement belongs to every citizen of Andhra Pradesh. 'I thank each and every one of you who made this possible. Your enthusiasm and dedication have been truly inspiring. This record shows what we can accomplish when we unite with a purpose. Congratulations to everyone!' wrote Naidu. 'And we did it! Heartfelt thanks to all the participants, TDP leaders and cadre, government officials, and everyone who contributed to achieving this remarkable feat,' posted Human Resources Development Minister Nara Lokesh. The event marked the culmination of Yogandhra, a month-long initiative by the state government to create public awareness. The programme began at 6.30 a.m. on Saturday, but participants had started arriving as early as 2 a.m. According to officials, a QR code-based tracking system set a new standard for crowd management and real-time attendance accuracy. A day before the main event, Visakhapatnam set another Guinness World Record for the largest synchronised Surya Namaskar with 22,122 tribal students performing together. Additionally, the state achieved 21 recognitions in the World Book of Records, showcasing its organisational excellence and public enthusiasm. Nine Indian Naval warships participated in the main event, symbolising national unity and pride.
