SPAIN is one of the most popular places for Scots to hit the beach on their summer hols. But it's also one of the top city break destinations for us.
And now it will be even easier to explore thanks to a new flight from low-cost airline giants easyJet.

It's one of four new routes featuring popular city and winter break destinations the airline has revealed.
The twice-weekly flights from Edinburgh to Barcelona, and easyJet Holidays will offer a choice of fabulous city break packages to coincide with them.
Autumn in Barcelona offers the perfect balance of sunny days down on the beach, vibrant night life, and plenty of culture in its medieval alleys, hidden courtyards, museums and galleries and of course the famed Sagrada Familia.
The flights from Edinburgh to Barcelona, will operate every Monday and Friday, starting October 27.
The airline - Scotland's biggest - will also launch new weekly flight to Innsbruck in Austria from the capital, just in time for the winter ski season starting at the country's renowned Tyrolean ski resorts. The service will begin on Sunday December 7.

And there will be new flights from Edinburgh to Belfast City which will operate five times a week every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday from October 26.
The city is an up and coming tourist hotspot with plenty to see and do including visiting the Titanic Exhibition and enjoying good food, the Guinness and, of course, the 'craic'
It comes as the airline announces the launch of new twice-weekly flights from Aberdeen to Paris - the only flight connecting Aberdeen to France.
The new routes provide customers in Scotland with an even greater range of destinations when looking to book their next winter getaway, whether they're hitting the slopes, discovering some of Europe's best Christmas markets, or chasing a winter city break.
easyJet holidays has a range of city break packages to choose from across all new routes departing from Aberdeen and Edinburgh for the winter 2025 season.

All packages include flights and hotel, all covered by its Ultimate Flexibility, offering freedom to change a booking, a refund guarantee, and best price guarantee.

Fettes College may cut jobs after Government's VAT decision

The private school in Edinburgh said it needs to run its operations "as efficiently as possible". Jobs at a prestigious Scots private school may be lost as it looks to cut costs following the UK Government's introduction of VAT on school fees. Fettes College in Edinburgh said the decision was one of the reasons it took the 'difficult' decision to 'right size our staffing model'. ‌ The Scotsman reported that the school – attended by former prime minister Tony Blair – has opened a consultation process for both teaching and operational staff in order to reduce numbers. ‌ The most recent accounts show 751 students in August 2024, down from 780 the previous year. academic year, inclusive of VAT. The Labour government imposed VAT on private education and boarding fees, effective from January 1. Ministers argue that removing the VAT exemption will benefit the wider education sector, including the 94% of pupils who attend state schools.
