Saudi Cultural Fund Spotlights Creative Economy at Expo 2025 Osaka
A cultural networking event at the Saudi Pavilion explored how entrepreneurship shapes Saudi Arabia's creative future.
Saudi Arabia's Cultural Development Fund (CDF) hosted a networking event at Expo 2025 Osaka, offering an inside look at how the Kingdom's growing cultural economy is gaining global momentum.
Held at the Saudi Pavilion, the event—titled 'Cultural Entrepreneurship in Saudi Arabia: Fostering Innovation and Heritage'—brought together cultural leaders, entrepreneurs, and international investors to discuss the intersection of heritage, innovation, and economic growth.
The panel was moderated by cultural researcher and podcast host Saba Alkhamis, and featured CDF's Chief Credit & Investment Officer Basil Al Alola, Darren Barker of cultural consultancy Barker Langham, and Hessa Alajaji, founder of Saudi design brand Accents. Together, they explored the rise of creative entrepreneurship in the Kingdom, and the role of cultural funding in enabling sustainable growth across sectors.
Saudi Ambassador to Japan Dr. Ghazi Faisal Binzagr joined the event, highlighting ongoing efforts to build cultural bridges between Saudi Arabia and Japan. The evening also included a musical performance by Japanese violinist and composer Ikuko Kawai.
The event coincided with Saudi Arabia's 2025 Year of Handicrafts initiative, and included a showcase of artisan-made works developed through CDF-supported collaborations. Guests were invited to engage with pieces that reflect the depth of Saudi Arabia's artistic heritage—part of the broader push to centre culture as a pillar of the country's economic diversification.
CDF's presence at Expo 2025 Osaka includes a range of activations highlighting investment opportunities across the Kingdom's cultural industries. From panel discussions to tailored financing initiatives, the Fund aims to connect with global partners and spotlight success stories across all 16 officially recognised cultural sectors.
Founded in 2021 under the Saudi National Development Fund, the Cultural Development Fund works to enable a self-sustaining creative economy in line with Vision 2030 and the National Culture Strategy.

Bvlgari to Launch Ultra-Luxury Island Resort in Abu Dhabi by 2030
Private beaches, large-scale villas, and a members-only yacht club form the core of the island's layout, designed for privacy, access to water, and long-stay coastal living. Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts is heading to Abu Dhabi — and not just anywhere in the capital, but to a private, horseshoe-shaped island set to become one of the most exclusive addresses in the UAE. Slated to open in 2030, the Bvlgari Resort and Mansions Abu Dhabi will feature architecture inspired by the desert's natural tones and contours, blending contemporary lines with regional influence. Sustainability is also a key part of the project's design. Developed in partnership with Eagle Hills, the island destination will include 60 rooms and suites, among them two signature Bvlgari Suites and a penthouse, along with 30 beachfront villas, each with a private pool and open sea views. The resort will also include 90 mansions ranging from 1,650 to 2,500 square metres, with select estates offering private beaches and docks for 25-metre yachts. Surrounded by panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf, the Abu Dhabi skyline, and Qasr Al Watan, the island will be accessible by bridge or by sea. Its sense of seclusion is matched by a suite of high-end amenities: a 2,000-square-metre Bvlgari Spa, a 1,000-square-metre fitness centre, and a 25-metre lap pool, alongside fine dining concepts including Il Ristorante – Niko Romito and Japanese venue Hōseki. A private Bvlgari Yacht Club, complete with its own beach, marina, and members-only spaces, will serve as a centrepiece of the development.

Egypt FM discusses efforts to de-escalate Israel-Iran conflict with Iranian counterpart in Istanbul - Foreign Affairs
Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty discussed the ongoing Israeli aggression on Iran and efforts to de-escalate the conflict between Tel-Aviv and Tehran with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi in Turkey on Saturday. The two top diplomats met in Istanbul during the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit. According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Minister Abdelatty reviewed with Araghchi intensive diplomatic efforts undertaken in recent days to de-escalate the conflict and achieve a ceasefire. Adelatty stressed to Araghchi the importance of pursuing diplomatic and political avenues to reach a sustainable agreement on Iran's nuclear program, to contain the escalating situation, and prevent further instability in the region. For his part, FM Aragchi shared the outcomes of his Friday talks in Geneva with the foreign ministers of the European Troika (the UK, France, and Germany) and the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, focusing on the Iranian nuclear issue. Both ministers agreed to maintain communication and continue consultations to resolve the crisis and safeguard regional security and stability. Meeting with Saudi counterpart Minister Abdelatty also met with his Saudi and Iraqi counterparts on the sidelines of the OIC summit. Minister Badr Abdelatty and Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, exchanged views on the consequences of the ongoing escalation between Israel and Iran. He also reviewed the incentives and facilities provided by the Egyptian government to industrial investors. Meeting with Iraqi counterpart Egypt's Minister of Foreign Badr Abdelatty met with Fuad Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, in Istanbul, on the sidelines of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meetings. During the meeting, FM Abdelatty stressed the importance of intensified Arab consultation and coordination regarding the escalating military tensions between Israel and Iran and their grave implications for regional security and stability. He underscored the need to halt the escalation, return to negotiations, and pursue political and diplomatic solutions to prevent the region from descending into widespread chaos. The Egyptian FM also outlined Egypt's ongoing efforts to restore a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need. He noted that regional developments and challenges require greater cooperation and integration among Arab nations. He also reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to implementing joint projects under the trilateral cooperation mechanism between Egypt, Iraq, and Jordan. Minister Abdelatty praised the deep-rooted and brotherly ties between Egypt and Iraq, commending the successful convening of the third session of the Egyptian-Iraqi Higher Joint Committee, which took place in Baghdad in January 2025. The session concluded with the signing of 12 agreements to advance relations between the two nations. He also emphasized Egypt's readiness to contribute to Iraq's development projects, highlighting the extensive experience and capabilities of Egyptian companies in this field.
