Mia Scott, a key piece of the Texas Longhorns national championship-winning squad, is going pro. The Texas native was selected by the Volts of the Athletes Unlimited Softball League from the Reserve Athlete Pool. She will be joining the Volts during the AUSL's inaugural season. Former Longhorns legend Cat Osterman is the general manager for the Volts.
Currently, the ASLU consists of four teams that are touring across the country. The teams compete in a 24-game regular season, followed by a three-game championship series. After one year without a host city, that will change in 2026. Then, the league is expected to move to a city-based league. They will have help from MLB, which has invested heavily in the league.
As the league grows, Scott will be one of the most well-known players. The former Longhorn is coming off a stellar college career. In 225 games, the Angleton High School product posted a .402 batting average while driving in 186 runs. She also made headlines with her power, as 99 of her 314 hits went for extra base.
During her time at Texas, Scott also added to her trophy case. That includes multiple All-American and Women's College World Series All-Tournament Team honors. Regardless of the opponent, Scott was a force at the plate and one of the best at her position in the country. While her statistics go on for pages, Texas underwent one of its best runs during Scott's tenure.
With the Longhorns, Scott reached the Women's College World Series Championship series three times. Her defensive skills helped make the magic number the third time. Now, she will look to build on her success in the next chapter of her softball career.
Regardless of the future, Scott, a Longhorn legend, will have many eyes watching where her professional career takes her.

Top Aggies RB KJ Edwards Commit Issues Personal Message After Canceling Texas Visit
Top Aggies RB KJ Edwards Commit Issues Personal Message After Canceling Texas Visit originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Upon his commitment to the Texas A&M Aggies, KJ Edwards made the reason behind his decision personal. Advertisement A native of Carthage, Texas, a town of under 7,000 located three hours from College Station near the Louisiana border, Edwards is the No. 3-ranked running back prospect in the country for the class of 2026 and a top-50 prospect. He had interest from traditional SEC powerhouses like Alabama and LSU and was predicted to commit to in-state rival Texas. However, when it came down to his decision, originally scheduled for Aug. 2, Edwards was already sold on being an Aggie, prompting him to cancel his visit to Austin a few days after a June 13 visit to College Station. On3 Sports' Hayes Fawcett reported Edwards' commitment to Texas A&M on June 17, to which Edwards replied shortly after he spurned the Longhorns. AggieLand I'm home," Edwards said, according to Fawcett. Advertisement Edwards didn't need to offer any more words himself, resharing the news with a pair of home emojis. As a junior, Edwards rushed for 1,789 yards and 23 touchdowns at a 12.6-yard clip per. He also reeled in 30 catches, 383 yards and three touchdowns in helping Carthage win the Class 4A-Division II state title. The 5-foot-10, 195-pound running back joins fellow four-star recruit Jonathan Hatton Jr. Both top-10 running backs in the country, Hatton and Edwards secure the Aggies running back room that will lose Le'Veon Moss, Amari Daniels and EJ Smith after this season. Grayson McKeogh, a 4-star 2026 offensive tackle, commits to Notre Dame football
This past weekend's official visitors for Notre Dame look like it was a big success, and on Wednesday marked the first commitment following the action. Pennsylvania offensive tackle Grayson McKeogh committed to the Irish over the Texas Longhorns and the Penn State Nittany Lions. The 6-foot, 8-inch and 285-pound star lineman is ranked as the nation's No. 262 overall prospect and the No. 20 offensive tackle in the nation by the 247Sports Composite. Advertisement McKeogh now gives Notre Dame five commitments along the offensive line, one that could make up the core of that position for years to come. The newest addition could end up being the best, as he's a true left tackle with a frame that resembles another former Irish star in Joe Alt. While McKeogh might not have the immediate impact that Alt did for Notre Dame, he has the potential to end up going the same route, as a multi-year starter and an early NFL draft pick. This is another huge recruiting win for the Irish. This article originally appeared on Fighting Irish Wire: Grayson McKeogh, a 2026 offensive tackle, commits to Notre Dame

Texas Longhorns Gets Major Update on 5-Star Freshman and Two-Sport Star Jonah Williams
Texas Longhorns Gets Major Update on 5-Star Freshman and Two-Sport Star Jonah Williams originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns put together a strong 2025 recruiting class. Advertisement According to 247Sports, they have the No. 1-ranked recruiting class in the nation, ahead of SEC rivals Georgia and Alabama. The player leading the way in their class is safety Jonah Williams. Williams is the No. 6-ranked player in the nation, and as a result, is expected to have an immediate impact on the Longhorns next season. On Wednesday, Longhorns fans got an update on how he has been looking with the team. Sources told reporter Anwar Richardson that he has been described as "Fantastic, special, and super smart." Martinez/American-Statesman/USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Jonah Williams is one of four five-star recruits signed by the Texas Longhorns in the 2025 recruiting class. He leads the way as the highest-ranked player but is joined by No. 13-ranked defensive lineman Justus Terry, No. 21-ranked wide receiver Kaliq Lockett and No. 23-ranked cornerback Kade Phillips. Advertisement Williams is an interesting recruit because he joined not just the football team but the baseball team at Texas as well. He enrolled early in 2025 so that he could join the baseball team as a left fielder for the team. This does not seem to bother head coach Steve Sarkisian as he spoke proudly about Williams' baseball career in April. "The guy is out there looking like Juan Soto right now," Sarkisian said. "He's playing on some big-time series right now, he's got a great opportunity, and he's maximizing." The Texas Longhorns will start their season on August 30 against the defending national champion Ohio State Buckeyes.
