Video: 'Insane' Ejection In Game 2 Of College World Series

Video: 'Insane' Ejection In Game 2 Of College World Series originally appeared on The Spun. Game 2 of the Men's College World Series between LSU and Coastal Carolina is underway. Unfortunately, Coastal Carolina will be without two coaches moving forward. We had an ejection just minutes into Game 2 in Omaha, Nebraska on Sunday afternoon. Both Coastal Carolina head coach Kevin Schnall and first base coach Matt Schilling have been ejected from the game. Advertisement The two Coastal Carolina coaches appeared to get ejected in the bottom of the first inning for arguing balls and strikes. Umpires say that arguing balls and strikes can lead to an automatic ejection. However, you would hope that in the College World Series, umpires would be more lenient. College World Series Coastal Carolina fell to LSU, 1-0, in a three-hit shutout in Game 1 on Saturday. Naturally, things are tense on Sunday. The umpires did not need to take it that far. ESPN MLB insider Jeff Passan is furious. "There are very few combinations of words in the English language that warrant ejecting a coach from an elimination game in the Men's College World Series finals. And yet Coastal Carolina's Kevin Schnall -- and first-base coach Matt Schilling -- just got run in the first inning," he wrote on X. Advertisement "'You missed three pitches' does not qualify as one of those combinations. If this is all it took for Kevin Schnall to get ejected, that is absurd." We'll have to wait and see what the umpires say following the game, if one of them speaks to the media. Game 2 of the Men's College World Series is airing live on ESPN. Fans Want College World Series Umpire Fired Immediately Sunday

Fans Want College World Series Umpire Fired Immediately Sunday originally appeared on The Spun. Fans are calling for an umpire at the Men's College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska to be fired immediately on Sunday afternoon. Advertisement Game 2 of the Men's College World Series is underway. LSU is taking on Coastal Carolina in an elimination game. The Tigers won Game 1 on Saturday evening. They are now just one win away from a second national championship in three years. Coastal Carolina is going to be fighting an uphill battle the rest of the way. Two of Coastal Carolina's coaches have been ejected less than one full inning into the game. Video of the absurd ejections have already gone viral on social media. It's bad. CWS Coastal Carolina head coach Kevin Schnall and first base coach Matt Schilling were both ejected in the bottom of the first inning on Sunday afternoon. Advertisement The two coaches appeared to be arguing balls and strikes, claiming that the home plate umpire already missed three calls. While arguing balls and strikes can often lead to an ejection, you would hope that in the College World Series, umpires would be more forgiving. Fans are now calling for the umpire to be fired immediately. "Let's make sure this ump has to get in front of the media postgame just like the Head Coaches do and answer some questions," one fan wrote. "Umpires work so hard to get to the highest level. Frankly unless he said something absolutely unforgivable then running a manager for correctly telling you you missed 3 pitches in the first five outs is then quick trigger of quick triggers. Stage might be too big," one fan added. Advertisement "This crew needs to be banned," one fan added. "Absolutely NO point in that ejection. Complete ump show. Ridiculous," one fan added. "This ump should be barred from umpiring again," one fan added. "I would've been arrested. This little clown making today about him. That was atrocious," one fan added. "This is the biggest ump show I've ever seen in my life. Absolutely childish behavior by these guys in blue! This is supposed to be about these awesome young athletes. So soft! These guys will never get a chance to umpire a big game again with such little poise under pressure…" one fan added. The umpires need to do better. Advertisement Game 2 of the Men's College World Series is airing live on ESPN on Sunday. Riley Gaines reacts to ‘phenom' Simone Biles deleting X after feud over transgender athletes

Decorated Olympian gymnast Simone Biles deactivated her X account weeks after her feud with former swimmer and women's sports activist Riley Gaines over a transgender high school softball player spiraled out of control. The 28-year-old's other social media accounts are still active, including her Instagram, which has 12.4 million followers. After noticing Biles' retreat, Gaines, 25, said it was 'sad to see such a phenom go down like this. ' 3 Olympian Simone Biles deleted her X account following her feud over transgender athletics with swimmer Riley Gaines. X / simone_biles '-has an incredibly unpopular and morally indefensible take, gets rightfully ridiculed for it, issues a groveling public apology after unrelenting backlash, deletes account to pretend it never happened,' the former NCAA swimmer for the University of Kentucky wrote on X. In early June, Marissa Rothenberger, a transgender athlete, pitched a shutout to give Minnesota's Champlin Park High School a state championship. The State High School League posted a team photo on social media after the big win — with comments turned off. 'To be expected when your star player is a boy,' Gaines, who competed against transgender University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas in 2022, said. Biles fired back at Gaines' critique. 3 Simone Biles during the Women's Team Final on day four of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games at Ariake Gymnastics Centre on July 27, 2021, in Tokyo, Japan. Getty Images 'All of this campaigning because you lost a race. Straight up sore loser. You should be uplifting the trans community and perhaps finding a way to make sports inclusive OR creating a new avenue where trans feel safe in sports. Maybe a transgender category IN ALL sports!! But instead… You bully them… One things for sure is no one in sports is safe with you around!!!!!' Biles wrote. Biles later apologized for the insults lobbed at Gaines, who is now a conservative commentator and activist for protecting women's sports. 3 Riley Gaines speaks at a news conference following the House of Representatives vote on H.R. 28 – 'Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act' at the US Capitol on Jan. 14, 2025. Getty Images 'I wanted to follow up from my last tweets. I've always believed competitive equity & inclusivity are both essential in sport. The current system doesn't adequately balance these important principles, which often leads to frustration and heated exchanges, and it didn't help for me to get personal with Riley, which I apologize for,' Biles wrote. 'We all want a future for sport that is fair, inclusive, and respectful,' she insisted. But the damage had already been done — and other sports celebrities weighed in, including ex-NASCAR driver Danica Patrick and Biles' former teammate MyKayla Skinner, who accused her of bullying. The exact reason why Biles deleted her X and not her other social media accounts is unclear.
