Oman Air, Tamrah bring Omani hospitality on board
Oman Air has announced a partnership with Tamrah, a subsidiary of Nakheel Oman Development Company, to supply premium Omani dates for the airline's in-flight and lounge service.
The agreement was officially signed by Captain Nasser Al Salmi, Oman Air's Chief Operating Officer, and Shabib Al Kindi, Tamrah's Chief Executive Officer.
The initiative forms part of Oman Air's broader strategy to champion local enterprises, support In-Country Value, and showcase the best of Omani culture through authentic, high-quality products and experiences.
Captain Nasser Al Salmi said, 'This partnership is not only about elevating our service offerings, but reflects our commitment to contributing meaningfully to Oman's economic development by supporting local businesses and integrating locally-sourced products into our global operations. Air services ramped for Dhofar khareef rush
Salalah – The civil aviation sector has confirmed full readiness to provide safe and smooth travel to Dhofar governorate during the 2025 khareef season, as tourist numbers are expected to rise from within and outside the sultanate. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Oman Airports, Oman Air and SalamAir are coordinating efforts to increase domestic flights and strengthen the operational efficiency of Muscat and Salalah airports. The authority said these measures reflect a unified approach to deliver a sustainable aviation system. The sector remains a key partner in supporting tourism and driving economic growth by providing modern infrastructure and reliable air services. Oman Air will step up operations from early July, with up to 12 daily flights at peak times. SalamAir will increase services from late June through early September, reaching up to eight daily flights in July and August. SalamAir will also operate a new direct route between Suhar and Salalah from mid-July, with one daily flight. To meet the rising demand, Oman Air has added more than 70,000 seats for the season, a 16% increase compared to the last year. SalamAir has boosted capacity by over 58%, offering about 176,000 seats in total. For Omani passengers, Oman Air will maintain fixed fares between July 1 and September 15, starting at RO32 one-way and RO54 return. SalamAir fares start at RO30 one-way and RO48 return. Oman Airports said both Muscat and Salalah airports are ready to handle the expected rush. Measures have been put in place to streamline passenger services from booking to arrival, in line with global best practices. Salalah Airport will offer the 'Travel Easier' service from July 15 to September 15, allowing passengers to check in and drop off luggage between 12 and 6 hours before departure, daily from 8am to 8pm. Oman flights cancelled to four countries, see full list of affected routes
Muscat: In light of ongoing regional tensions, two major Omani carriers: SalamAir and Oman Air, have announced the suspension of several international flights to safeguard passengers and crew. SalamAir has temporarily suspended all flights to and from Iran, Iraq, and Azerbaijan until 20 June 2025. The airline also confirmed that transit passengers through Muscat International Airport with final destinations in any of the three countries will not be accepted for travel from their original departure points until further notice. Passengers are urged to ensure their contact details are up to date via the 'Manage Booking' portal at to receive timely flight updates. The airline is closely monitoring the situation and will resume services as soon as conditions permit. Affected travellers will be contacted directly to explore alternative travel options. Sharjah launches proactive plan for 5,600 trips during Eid Al Adha holiday
The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has put together a special plan for the upcoming Eid Al Adha holiday. This initiative is aimed at making sure travellers can enjoy comfortable and safe transportation as they celebrate the Eid. With an increase in people wanting to travel during this festive time, the SRTA is stepping up its services to ensure everyone can move smoothly between different areas in Sharjah and beyond. Engineer Yousef Khamis Al Othmani, the head of the SRTA, highlighted the importance of being well-prepared during holidays. He noted that during the Eid holiday in 2025, which runs from June 5 to 8, there will be a noticeable rise in public transport users. To handle this, the SRTA has made plans to operate 180 buses on various routes, aiming to complete around 5,600 trips over the four days. During peak times, buses will come every 5 minutes instead of the usual 45-minute wait. This means shorter waiting times and more convenience for everyone traveling. The authority is committed to making travel easy for people visiting family or exploring popular destinations, both within the emirate and outside it. They are also increasing staff at busy bus stations, especially the Jubail Bus Station, which will be open from early morning until late at night to accommodate the larger number of passengers expected during this busy holiday. The Authority has improved bus services in Sharjah City for the Eid holiday, making travel easier for everyone. They are running a total of 1,144 bus trips each day across 12 different routes, using 104 buses that connect to 543 stops around the city. During the Eid Al Adha holiday, there will be a special boat service operating between Sharjah and Dubai. Abdul Aziz Al Jarwan, who is in charge of transport at the local authority, announced that there will be four daily trips. These boats will leave from the Aquarium Station in Sharjah and arrive at Al Ghubaiba Station in Dubai, working together with Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority. Al Jarwan shared that the Authority is working closely with the Omani transport company, Mwasalat, to run international route 203. This route connects Sharjah with Muscat, the capital of Oman, and offers two flights each day. This service is expected to encourage tourism between the two countries, especially during the Eid holidays.
