Harmless, HR-approved April Fools' prank gets employee fired, netizens say, ‘This is wild'
'Got fired because of a sticker': A Redditor said that he was fired from his job in Canada over a harmless April Fools' prank, which he had allegedly got approved from the Human Resources beforehand.
In the viral post, the social media user shared an image of the sticker that got in into trouble and said, 'I put it in our staff washroom At the top of the mirror Everyone besides the boss knew what I was doing because I had joked about doing it as an April fools joke and HR said to do it and even told me what washroom to put it in.'
However, the next day, he said he realised that all his things 'weren't where I left them' and therefore, he immediately knew he was getting suspended for it.
'I had full intentions of admitting it and speaking with him about it so that's what I continued to do that morning. I didn't want anyone getting blamed,' he said.
But then the unexpected happened: 'As soon as I went in his office I explained to him that as a leader I shouldn't have done that. And said sorry. He then told me we have to let you go. Not sure why he said we, HR was not there.'
The social media user then shared an incident that his boss recalled when he asked him if there was anything that he had done in the past that betrayed his trust like this had.
The Redditor said that he said 'okay thanks for everything' and left after saying goodbye to the cleaner. He added that he wasn't even written up or suspended from his job of 10 months.
'Part of me is so sad because I spent so much time focusing on making sure everyone felt comfortable and confident so we could have a successful shift. My heart is broken because a lot of the staff believed in me as a leader,' he said.
The user sought help from fellow Redditors to see if he should approach the labour board about it or not, since he didn't have a written proof.
Netizens were of the opinion that this incident is unlikely to be the sole reason for firing someone and said the social media user likely offended someone.
'This is wild, we have these signs at work in the employee-only areas. No one cares,' a user said.
'That is something insane to fire someone over, they probably just wanted you gone anyways and used this as an excuse. Get a union job and you won't have to work for little bitches who can fire you for any reason,' added another user.
A user said: 'We had this in my bathroom at my old job, and it was my manager who put it up lol. We all thought it was hilarious. People are weird to get offended by this.'
'Not worth being fired over. Apparently, someone got their feelings hurt, though,' said another user.

Temple land worth 1 crore retrieved from encroachers in Krishnagiri
Krishnagiri: The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department on Thursday demolished nine houses that were built on a parcel of land belonging to the Krishnagiri Pudupettai Arulmigu Prasanna Parvathy Sametha Chandra Mouleswarar Temple and retrieved 34 cents worth Rs1 crore. According to an official source, the temple land was encroached years ago by several people to build houses. "We had earlier issued notices to the owners of these houses with a request to vacate the place. Since they did not leave on their own, we demolished the houses today (Thursday) with the help of earthmovers and retrieved the temple land. The drive was carried out in the presence of police to avoid any untoward incidents. " Pointing out that some houseowners had petitioned the HR&CE commissioner against the eviction drive, the source said they would continue the drive to retrieve the encroached temple land after the conclusion of an inquiry.

'Sign this and shut up!': Employee accuses HR of pressure tactics over suspicious exit papers. Netizens call out corporate gaslighting
In a viral Reddit post on r/developersIndia, a former employee has exposed what they describe as a "shady and coercive" exit process at their previous company. The post, titled 'HR Says 'You'll Get Paid, But Sign This and Shut Up!' Seriously?' , recounts how the individual was allegedly pushed into resigning under the threat of a termination mark on their record — and then strong-armed into signing questionable documents in exchange for their rightful dues. According to the user, they were asked to resign on April 1st after the company announced their termination, with HR reportedly saying a resignation would 'look better' on their career. Taking the suggestion at face value, the employee resigned the very next day and returned their work laptop as instructed. But they quickly realised they were entitled to a two-month notice period, and formally expressed their willingness to serve it. The twist? The company neither acknowledged their email nor permitted them to work during that notice period. A month later, they were informed that the compensation would be paid as part of the final settlement. By May 30th, they received their relieving letter—but it carried an unexpected surprise. The Date That Disappeared, and the Documents That Gagged The employee discovered that the relieving documents reflected April 2nd as their final working date—essentially nullifying the two-month notice period altogether. Even more baffling was the company's response. When asked to correct the date to June 2nd, in line with the stated notice period, management allegedly claimed they couldn't amend the document because it had been generated after the end of the financial year in March. As per the post, the HR team said, 'We understand, but it's a shame we can't do anything about it,' while still assuring payment—but only if the employee signed a release form stating they had 'no further claims against the company.' Netizens Call Out Corporate Gaslighting The Reddit post has since ignited widespread discussion and disbelief. One user bluntly advised, 'Don't sign it and threaten a legal case. They'll come back with both the updated relieving letter and the money within a day. That justification about the financial year is out of this world.' Another commented, 'What do companies get from doing something this bad to a random employee? They're giving him the pay, but not the paperwork—just because they don't want to redo a mistake?' Companies use that to avoid paying rightful severance.' This case stands as a cautionary tale in the corporate landscape. As workplaces tighten belts and streamline headcounts, employees must remain vigilant—especially during exits. Experts recommend keeping written records of all communication, and not signing any document that contains language waiving future claims without thorough scrutiny. HC allows Murugan devotees' conference
Madurai: Madras high court on Friday allowed the conduct of the Lord Murugan devotees' conference (Muruga Bakthargalin Aanmeega Maanadu), scheduled in Madurai on June 22. It however clarified certain conditions imposed by Madurai city police. Justice B Pugalendhi passed the order while hearing a plea moved by Hindu Munnani challenging certain conditions imposed by the police while granting permission for the conference. During the course of the hearing, the state submitted that the police passed an order on June 12 granting permission for the conference. However, Hindu Munnani submitted that the police imposed over 50 conditions, some of which it objected to. These included mandating participants to obtain passes from the concerned district police, barring them from conducting bike rally, asking them to obtain permission from HR & CE department and Madurai corporation, and barring use of drone cameras. The court also passed orders on another plea moved by Hindu Munnani seeking a direction to the authorities to permit them to set up temporary miniatures of the six abodes of Lord Murugan and perform pujas ahead of the devotees' conference. Copies of both the orders were not uploaded at the time of going to the press. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here .
