Former Falcons WR Jared Bernhardt returns to lacrosse
Jared Bernhardt moved from lacrosse to football after a stellar collegiate career at Maryland and made it all the way to the NFL, but he's now back to his original path.
Bernhardt won the Tewaarton Award as the country's top lacrosse player while at Maryland and then transferred to Ferris State to play wide receiver. He signed with the Falcons in 2022 and appeared in two games before going on the reserve/retired list in 2023. He returned to spend some time in the CFL, but is now playing in the Premier Lacrosse League.
Bernhardt said he has no regrets about his circuitous route over the last few years.
'Some people may have all the speculation about leaving at the top of your game, but for me, I just feel that was the right move for me,' Bernhardt said, via Edward Lee of the Baltimore Sun. 'I wouldn't change it. As I said, a lot of great experiences, ups and downs and a lot of good people you meet along the way, and if I didn't do that, I wouldn't have had that stuff. So I'm fortunate enough to have been able to go through all of that.'
Bernhardt has scored one goal in two games with the Denver Outlaws since his return.

The Browns currently have longtime veteran Joe Flacco as the starter with Pickett as the No. 2. Then there is a battle between rookies Dillon Gabriel and the aforementioned Sanders. Since most teams only keep three quarterbacks, training camp will help the Browns decide who is the odd man out.

In 14 games with the Ravens, Beckham caught 35 passes for 565 yards. He ended up scoring three touchdowns during the regular season. He failed to find the end zone in both games. Last year, Beckham looked forward to another fresh start as he joined the Miami Dolphins for the year. He started the season off on the PUP list, dealing with an injury. By October, Beckham finally made his Dolphins debut. He appeared in just nine games. After catching nine passes for 55 yards, Beckham and the Dolphins agreed to part ways. The veteran wide receiver was waived in mid-December. He hasn't been picked up since. Beckham is a long way from the player he was when he joined the Giants as their 12th overall pick in 2014 out of LSU. Falcons bring back familiar face at safety, release DB Benny Sapp III
The Atlanta Falcons announced another roster transaction on Monday afternoon, signing defensive back Josh Thompson and releasing Benny Sapp III in a corresponding move. The team signed Thompson last offseason but placed him on the injured reserve list before releasing him in early September. The 26-year-old caught on with the Tennessee Titans in 2022 after signing as an undrafted free agent. Thompson appeared in six games that season, playing exclusively on special teams for the Titans. Since his rookie year, Thompson has bounced on around a few practice squads, including the Houston Texans. Advertisement Sapp, 24, is also a former undrafted free agent who last appeared in a regular season game for the Green Bay Packers in 2023. He primarily played on special teams for the Packers aside from three snaps played on defense. On Monday, the Falcons resumed organized team activities (OTAs) without Kirk Cousins or Kyle Pitts.
