The escalating Israel-Iran conflict and US involvement are expected to influence market performance on Monday. Market analysts indicate that global factors will be crucial, as investors monitor US manufacturing and services PMI data, alongside geopolitical developments. The market outlook suggests consolidation with expected volatility.
VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Investments Limited says, 'Even though the US bombing of Iran's three nuclear facilities has worsened the crisis in West Asia, the impact on the market is likely to be limited. The uncertain factor now is the timing and nature of the Iranian response. If Iran targets and damage the US defence facilities in the region or hurts US military personnel seriously, the US response can be huge and this might further worsen the crisis.
But the market assessment is that there are limits to what Iran can do against US and Israel. That's why the early market responses - crude prices, US futures, absence of panic in Asian markets - have been muted.'
'Even though the possibility of the closure of Hormuz Strait is a threat, it is important to understand that this has always been only a threat and the Strait had never been closed. The fact is that the closure of Hormuz Strait will harm Iran and Iran's friend China more than anyone else.
The market construct continues to favour a 'buy on dips' strategy."
Early Monday trading in Asia showed declining US stock-index futures and rising oil prices following US attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities. Asian stocks showed weakness.
Gold prices increased slightly on Monday as investors sought safe-haven assets amidst growing concerns about Middle East tensions, with markets awaiting Iran's reaction to US strikes on its nuclear installations.
Oil prices surged on Monday, reaching their peak since January, following America's decision to support Israel in targeting Iranian nuclear installations, raising concerns about supply disruptions.
Foreign portfolio investors purchased shares worth Rs 7,940 crore net on Friday, whilst domestic institutional investors recorded net sales of Rs 3,040 crore.
Foreign institutional investors reduced their net short positions in the futures market from Rs 96,962 crore on Thursday to Rs 96,368 crore on Friday.

AI Orders Aircraft Audit, Forms Panel To Monitor Ops After Ahmedabad Crash: Sources

Last Updated: AI Ahmedabad crash: Sources privy to the meeting chaired by Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran said the board has initiated a safety overhaul, including an audit of all aircraft In the wake of the recent runway mishap and Ahmedabad crash, the Air India (AI) board on Wednesday held a crucial internal meeting in Mumbai to assess operational risks and strategy. It was chaired by Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran. Sources privy to the meeting confirmed that the board has initiated a major safety overhaul, including a comprehensive audit of all aircraft in the airline's fleet. On June 10, an Air India flight from Delhi to Ahmedabad skidded off the taxiway during landing amid heavy rain. While no lives were lost, the incident raised critical questions around safety compliance. On June 12, Air India's London-bound plane crashed in Ahmedabad on June 12. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner plane first hit the mess building of BJ Medical College Civil Hospital and then crashed into the Atulyam Hostel, where senior residents doctors stayed. Both buildings suffered heavy damage and casualties. As first reported by News18, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had directed Air India to submit the complete health report of its aircraft fleet. Sources indicate that the airline is in the final stages of compiling this report and is likely to submit it soon. In another significant decision, the board has constituted a high-level internal committee to monitor all aspects of Air India's operations. This committee will be empowered to take final decisions on flight routes, frequency, and other business-related matters. A senior Air India source: 'This is not just a cosmetic move. The committee has real authority to act swiftly in the interest of operational efficiency and passenger safety." To aid the ongoing investigation by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) into the Ahmedabad incident, the board also approved the formation of a coordination task force. This group will facilitate all support required by AAIB, ensuring smooth access to documents, technical data, and staff interactions during the investigation. The AI has suspended three routes until July 2025 and reduced flight frequency on 19 other routes. These reductions are aimed at strengthening Air India's network-wide operational stability and minimizing last-minute inconvenience to passengers. Despite these temporary reductions, Air India will continue to operate close to 600 daily flights with its narrowbody aircraft on 120 domestic and short-haul international routes. As per sources, these steps reflect a decisive effort by the Tata Group-owned national carrier to regain public trust, enforce accountability, and raise internal safety benchmarks. First Published:

India Set To Outpace G7 Economies In Growth: Report

New Delhi: Global capital can no longer overlook India's structural economic advantages, as the nation is poised to significantly outpace G7 economies in growth, according to a report released on Monday by wealth management firm Equirus. The report identifies strong macro fundamentals, policy-led capital expenditure, a resurgence in rural consumption, and structural manufacturing shifts as key long-term drivers of India's growth in an uncertain global environment. "India is no longer the world's fastest-growing economy just on paper -- it is structurally better positioned than most G7 nations. That's a seismic shift," said Mitesh Shah, CEO, Equirus Credence Family Office. "The global macro regime is shifting. US growth has been revised down sharply, and while India is projected to contribute over 15 per cent to global GDP growth (2025-2030), traditional 60/40 portfolios are breaking down. In this new regime, strategic asset allocation across geographies and growth cycles isn't optional -- it's the alpha generator," he added. India is benefiting from structural trends: rural FMCG demand outpacing urban (6 per cent vs 2.8 per cent), policy-led capex rising 17.4 per cent, and Rs 2.5 lakh crore liquidity infusion underway, the report states. India's contribution to global GDP growth is significantly outpacing Japan (less than 1 per cent) and Germany (just over 1.3 per cent), the report points out. The report highlights that rural consumption is driving the recovery in the Indian economy. FMCG demand in rural India grew 6 per cent, outstripping urban markets at 2.8 per cent. The monthly per capita expenditure gap between rural and urban households has narrowed from 84 per cent to 70 per cent over the last decade. The report challenges the viability of the long-standing 60/40 portfolio strategy, historically seen as the gold standard for diversified investing. In today's volatile and fragmented global regime, strategic asset allocation is no longer optional -- it is essential for capital preservation and alpha generation, the report states. The report urges investors to adopt a more dynamic and forward-looking asset allocation approach -- one that spans geographies, sectors, and growth cycles. With India emerging as a structural outperformer, the firm sees the country's multi-engine growth -- driven by rural consumption, capex, and supply chain shifts -- as a compelling opportunity for both capital preservation and long-term alpha generation. The report also highlights global factors reinforcing India's advantage. The Dollar Index (DXY) has declined approximately 6 per cent from its 2025 peak, and crude oil remains stable at $70/barrel, easing India's import bill pressure. It further states that while the 'China +1' narrative is evolving, concrete shifts are emerging. As multinational firms like Apple diversify away from China, shifting iPhone production to India benefits from cost efficiencies, lower attrition, and geopolitical alignment. The report also sees a government policy-led capex boom boosting India's growth. Central plus state capital expenditure is set to jump 17.4 per cent post-election, backed by a Rs 2.5 lakh crore liquidity infusion via phased CRR cuts, the report added.
