River Indie Electric Scooter Crosses 7,000 Units Sales Since Launch

NDTV5 hours ago

Bengaluru-based River Mobility is seeing an uptake in the sales figures of its Indie electric scooter. The total sales of River Indie in 2024 were 2,515 units and the company has already seen a 77 per cent increase in the total sales in 2025 till date. River has sold over 7,000 units of the Indie electric scooter since the beginning of sales in 2023. Numbers suggest that the sales started picking up after River updated the scooter with a final chain drive, priced at Rs. 1.43 lakh (ex-showroom). The company recently crossed Rs. 100 crore in revenue and touched the 1,000 units mark in monthly sales.
The new model was priced higher than the older model but still the company is seeing an increase in the sales of the electric scooter, whose primary markets are Southern and Western India. The River Indie electric scooter comes with a 4 kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 161 km. It can be charged from 0 to 80 per cent in 5 hours. The electric motor makes a total of 6.7 kW with 26 Nm of max torque. The electric scooter has a claimed acceleration from 0 to 40 kmph in 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 90 kmph.
River Mobility will soon collaborate with Yamaha and the Japanese two-wheeler giant will soon enter the affordable electric scooter segment with a brand-new model, which will be based on the current River Indie. The upcoming Yamaha EV is code-named RY01 and reports suggest that it will use the same battery management system and powertrain as the River Indie. Now, it should be noted that Yamaha Motor Co, Japan invested around 40 million dollars in River in February 2024. The investment was made for River's Series B round of funding through third-party allotment.

RBI's Rs.10 Lakh Crore Credit Unlock a Major Boost for the Sustainable Blue Economy: Kings Infra

Kochi, 23rd June 2025: Kings Infra Ventures Ltd. welcomes the Reserve Bank of India's decisive policy to reduce provisioning norms for infrastructure lending — a silent yet powerful enabler that unlocks over Rs.10 lakh crore in credit for India's future-ready sectors. This reform comes at a pivotal time for India's infrastructure ambitions — especially in nutritional infrastructure, a new and urgent category focused on building clean, sustainable, and traceable food systems. As a leading developer of land-based aquaculture and seafood supply chains, Kings Infra is uniquely positioned to leverage this opportunity. 'This reform is a silent catalyst,' said Mr. Shaji Baby John, Chairman of Kings Infra. 'It gives us the financial flexibility to fast-track our aquaculture infrastructure, unlock value from our land banks, and contribute significantly to India's Blue Economy and food security goals.' Through its subsidiary Kings Maritech Eco Parks Ltd. (KMEPL), the company is building large-scale, ESG-aligned aquaculture clusters — combining hatcheries, precision farm units, cold-chain logistics, and export hubs across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka. The RBI's move to reduce provisioning for under-construction infrastructure from 5% to just 1% is expected to: • Free up capital for faster rollout of sustainable infrastructure • Improve bankability of greenfield aquaculture and logistics projects • Accelerate land monetization across Kings Infra's coastal land portfolio This also strengthens Kings Infra's strategic roadmap to transform underutilized coastal lands into high-impact assets supporting: • Clean protein exports • Climate-resilient farming systems • Rural employment • Nutritional self-sufficiency As India powers ahead with its Rs.1.4 trillion National Infrastructure Pipeline, this credit unlock ensures that blue economy sectors — from mariculture and clean aquaculture to traceable seafood exports — receive the financial backing they need. Kings Infra is actively engaging with institutional investors, sustainability-focused funds, and strategic partners to co-develop this next generation of aquaculture infrastructure. Tata Power-DDL, Nissin Electric commission micro substation under Japan's NEDO project

New Delhi: Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited ( Tata Power-DDL ), which serves approximately 9 million consumers in North Delhi, has commissioned a micro substation project in collaboration with Japan-based Nissin Electric Co. Ltd., under a demonstration programme supported by Japan's New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). The initiative is part of the International Demonstration Project on Japan's Energy Efficiency Technologies. A Project Agreement between Tata Power-DDL and Nissin Electric was signed on August 21, 2024. Prior to that, NEDO signed a Letter of Intent with Power Finance Corporation Limited (PFC), a non-banking financial institution under the Ministry of Power, on January 10, 2024. The micro substation is aimed at supplying power to areas where transmission infrastructure exists but the grid is either underdeveloped or absent. The technology uses Pole-mounted Voltage Transformer (PVT) to directly convert high-voltage power from transmission lines to low-voltage power, without the need for a conventional large-scale substation. According to Tata Power-DDL, the micro substation project is designed to meet the requirements of regions with challenging terrains or space constraints. The equipment allows for stable and cost-effective electricity supply to load centres in rural as well as urban areas where grid extension is not viable. Tata Power-DDL stated that the technology enables efficient peak load management during the summer season and reduces the need for diesel-based mini grids in remote areas, thereby offering a lower environmental burden. The system also reduces operational costs, as it does not require generator refuelling or frequent maintenance. The micro substation was officially handed over to Tata Power-DDL and will be monitored for performance metrics such as power reliability, quality, and operational effectiveness. Discussions have begun with power distribution companies in Odisha for further deployment. Site visits and detailed action plans are being prepared as part of the next phase of implementation. The companies aim to replicate the solution in other parts of India, particularly in locations where Tata Power has operational presence outside Delhi.
