India is witnessing a sea change—literally. Cruise tourism, once considered a niche or luxury segment, is rapidly gaining popularity among Indian travellers. Desi tourists are seeking more than just destinations; they crave experiences. Cruises, that used to be a niche entertainment for people with fat wallets have been democratised. They are offering the middle-class Indian travellers from the Tier-2 cities a seamless blend of leisure, luxury, and entertainment. Aboard the luxurious, 15-deck 'Independence of the Seas', there is little the members cannot have: gourmet dining, Broadway-caliber shows, art auctions, and starlit movie nights by the pool. Says Bengaluru-based writer Namita Gupta, who embarked on a Europe luxury cruise 'We wanted to experience something magical, something larger than life.' She chose Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas—the world's largest cruise ship. 'It was like floating in a five-star resort. Michelin-level dining, open to sky pool deck, champagne at every hour,' she says. To get wet, you don't have to take a dip in the cerulean waters: on board is the 40-foot-long FlowRider surf simulator to ride the 30,000 gallons of water rushing towards you as friends and family cheer you on from a mini stadium seating.
Many Indian travellers like Gupta, who once viewed cruises with mild curiosity, are now hooked. 'We used to think a Europe tour or a Maldives villa was the pinnacle of indulgence,' she says, adding 'Now, cruising in a floating mansion with a private infinity pool feels like the real dream come true.'

Op Sindhu: 90 stranded Indians to arrive in Prayagraj today
Prayagraj: Around 90 people from Sangam City and nearby areas, including 20 members of a Dariyabad-based family, are expected to arrive in Prayagraj on Monday after being safely evacuated from Iran under Operation Sindhu. The group was previously stranded due to airspace restrictions. So far, over 1,400 Indian nationals have returned home from Iran under Operation Sindhu, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Sunday. The first batch of 110 Indian nationals evacuated from Iran arrived in India on Thursday, with many evacuees sharing first-hand accounts of the frightening situation they witnessed before being moved to safer locations. In a special gesture on June 20, Iran has lifted airspace restrictions for three charter flights to evacuate about 1,000 Indian nationals, mostly students, from the Iranian city of Mashad. Mohammad Javad Hosseini, the deputy chief of mission at the Iranian embassy, said more evacuation flights could be operated in the coming days to bring back Indians if required.

CM shares final design of Janaki temple at Punaura Dham
Patna: CM Nitish Kumar on Sunday shared the final design of 'Jagat Janani Maa Janaki Mandir', which will be constructed at Punaura Dham, a Hindu pilgrimage site in Sitamarhi district that is widely considered as the birthplace of goddess Sita. The CM said that the design for the holistic development of the 'Jagat Janani Maa Janaki Mandir' has been finalised and that a dedicated trust has been formed to expedite the work for its development. "I am very happy to inform you that the design of the grand temple and other structures for the development of Jagat Janani Maa Janaki's birthplace at Punaura Dham, Sitamarhi, is now ready," Nitish said in a social media post, sharing several images of the proposed temple. Nitish added, "We are determined to complete the construction of the grand temple in Sitamarhi district, as soon as possible. Building the magnificent temple of Maa Janaki is a matter of pride and fortune for all us Biharis." The state cabinet, during a recent meeting, approved the appointment of a Noida-based private firm as the design consultant for the development of the Punaura Dham temple. It is the same organisation, which was the consultant for the master plan and architectural services of the Ram temple at Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh. Lakhs of pilgrims, including those from abroad, especially Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh, visit Punaura Dham every year. Earlier also, the state cabinet had approved Rs 120 crore for the overall development of the temple.
