Riot Games extends partnership with Red Bull for LEC and VCT EMEA through 2026
Riot Games has announced an extension to its partnership with Red Bull, ensuring the energy drink brand will continue as the official beverage of the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) and VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) EMEA.
The renewed agreement ensures Red Bull's sponsorship of the LEC through the end of 2026, maintaining its presence in the competition.
As part of the deal, Red Bull retains the naming rights to "Baron Power Play" and will continue to provide beverages to Riot Games staff, players, and commentators at the Riot Games Arena in Berlin.
This marks Red Bull's sixth year of involvement in the LEC since its initial partnership in 2019, making it one of the league's longest-standing sponsors.
Similarly, Red Bull's partnership with VCT EMEA extends through 2026, during which it will remain the presenting partner of the "Clutch Moments" segment during the broadcast.
In addition to its broadcast presence, Red Bull plans to organize a series of VALORANT Community Championships throughout 2025 and 2026, with details of participating teams, locations, and formats to be revealed soon.
This extension also celebrates the fifth anniversary of Red Bull's partnership with VCT EMEA, following its first partnership with Riot Games' tactical shooter in July 2021.
The 2025 VCT EMEA season kicks off on March 26, with 12 teams competing for qualification to VCT Masters Toronto, the second Masters event of the year. Meanwhile, the 2025 LEC Spring Split begins on March 29, with 10 teams competing for two slots in the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI).

German Regulator Pushes for More Fan Control of Soccer Clubs Like Bayer Leverkusen
Top German soccer clubs, including Bayer Leverkusen and Leipzig, face the prospect of handing over more control to fans in the future after a regulator intervened. A statement Monday from Germany's antitrust regulator, the Federal Cartel Office, said it wants to see tighter enforcement of the rule known as 50-plus-1, which requires a soccer club's membership to have majority voting rights over how the team is run. Why Leverkusen? The regulator said recent European court rulings suggest permanent exemptions from 50-plus-1 for last year's champion Leverkusen and fellow top-tier club Wolfsburg seem no longer possible. It said efforts should be made in the future to ensure the clubs' professional soccer operations come under the control of membership organizations, but didn't name any deadline. Leverkusen and Wolfsburg were founded as workers' teams at major companies which own the clubs, with pharmaceutical giant Bayer at Leverkusen and car manufacturer Volkswagen at Wolfsburg. Their long-term involvement led to the clubs getting exemptions from 50-plus-1. The regulator also said the German men's soccer league needs to ensure the clubs it oversees offer their fans the opportunity to become a new full member with voting rights. That appears to affect Leipzig and its relationship with drinks giant Red Bull, though they weren't directly named by the regulator in Tuesday's statement. The club was founded by Red Bull in 2009 and is part of its international network of soccer clubs. It grants voting rights to far fewer people than most German clubs. Local media reported that only 23 members had the right to vote at Leipzig as of last year. What are they saying? Leverkusen said in a statement that the Federal Cartel Office's new approach was 'a remarkable change of course.' The club added that it 'does not consider the regulator's reasoning to be convincing' and that it 'will examine the ruling and reserve all legal options.' Hans-Joachim Watzke, speaker of the league's executive board, said it stands behind 50-plus-1, which he called 'an elementary component of German soccer.' Why does 50-plus-1 matter? Fan control means outside investors can't buy up German clubs outright like they can in the English Premier League and other competitions. It's also one reason why Germany hasn't seen the sort of spending sprees and dramatic shifts in competitive balance which followed takeovers at clubs like Manchester City, Chelsea, or Paris Saint-Germain in the past. Fans often argue the rule keeps clubs rooted in their communities but still allows a limited role for investment. Sportswear giant Adidas is among the minority shareholders who've helped member-run Bayern Munich win a string of titles, while Borussia Dortmund shares are traded on the stock market. Fan power is a force in German soccer outside of the boardroom, too. Following protests, the league abandoned plans to sell a stake in its media rights income last year. While the regulator's statement may eventually change how some top clubs are run, it could take a while. The regulator has been examining German men's soccer for around seven years now and has brought about limited changes before.

Former F1 Racer Warwick Suspended as Canadian GP Steward
Formula One's governing body suspended former racer Derek Warwick as Canadian Grand Prix steward on Friday for unauthorized media comments about current drivers. According to Reuters, the FIA did not specify what the 70-year-old Briton, who raced from 1981 to 1993, had said but media reports said Warwick had been quoted by a betting platform talking about the Spanish Grand Prix. Red Bull's reigning champion Max Verstappen was handed three penalty points in Spain for a collision on June 1 with Mercedes George Russell, a sanction that left the Dutch driver one point away from a ban. "Following recent unauthorized media comments, the FIA has taken the decision to suspend Derek Warwick from his duties as driver steward for this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix," the governing body said in a statement. "He will be replaced by Enrique Bernoldi who will be officiating from the remote operations center in Geneva for the remainder of the event. "After discussion Derek acknowledges that his comments were ill-advised in his role as an FIA steward and has apologized. Derek will resume his duties as a steward in the forthcoming Austrian Grand Prix." Warwick is the second steward to be dropped this year for unauthorized comments, with compatriot Johnny Herbert suffering that fate in January because his work as a media pundit was declared incompatible with the role.

How to pre-register for VALORANT Mobile
The ES TIMES — The highly anticipated VALORANT Mobile game is finally nearing launch, and players in select regions can now pre-register for early access. Pre-registration not only keeps you up to date with the latest official updates, but it also increases your chances of being among the first to experience Riot Games' tactical shooter on mobile. Regional Launch and Early Access As with many major mobile game launches, VALORANT Mobile will follow a regional launch strategy. This means that certain regions, starting with China, will receive access first. The first phase of testing has already begun in China, with Tencent-owned Lightspeed Studios handling development there. How to Pre-Register Currently, pre-registration is only available through the official VALORANT Mobile website for China. Players selected for early access will receive an email with download instructions and additional information. For other regions, Riot Games is expected to launch pre-registration via the Google Play Store and Apple App Store in the near future. Although these pages are not yet live, players are advised to follow local stores or Riot's official channels for any updates. Technically, it is possible to access the Chinese version using a VPN or alternative methods, but this is not recommended. Server issues and high ping can lead to a frustrating experience, and the language barrier can hinder understanding important instructions or using some in-game features. Global Release and Rewards After the testing phase in China concludes, access is expected to expand to other regions. As we've become accustomed to Riot Games, pre-registration rewards will be offered, but unlocking them may require completing in-game tasks or reaching certain milestones during the testing periods. As the full release date approaches, players can expect to see the addition of new challenges, missions, and an in-game store filled with exclusive cosmetics and content designed specifically for the mobile platform.
