Yew Sin marries former Japanese ace Aya Ohori in Malacca
PETALING JAYA: Malaysian men's doubles shuttler Ong Yew Sin and former Japanese women's singles ace Aya Ohori have officially tied the knot.
The couple were wed in a civil marriage ceremony at the National Registration Department (JPN) in Malacca on Thursday (June 19).
The ceremony took place at JPN Malacca's Marriage and Divorce Division, where the couple exchanged vows in the presence of assistant registrar Nur Fatehah Razali and close family members from both sides.
In a statement, JPN Melaka expressed its honour in being part of the couple's special moment and extended its best wishes for a lasting union that celebrates the coming together of two cultures.
"Celebrating the love of Malaysian shuttler Ong Yew Sin and his bride Aya Ohori.
"Our heartfelt congratulations to the couple. May this beautiful union of love between two cultures last a lifetime," shared JPN in a social media post.
Yew Sin, 30, won bronze at the 2021 World Championships with his partner Teo Ee Yi, and the pair currently sit at No. 31 in the world rankings.
Ohori won a bronze medal at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games and also captured titles at the Thailand Masters and Australian Open last year. However, she announced her retirement at the end of the season.

Sri Pahang's absence a big loss to Malaysian football, says legend
Bernama KUALA LUMPUR: Sri Pahang FC's decision to skip the 2025/2026 Malaysia League (M-League) season is a big loss to Malaysian football, said former Pahang coach Datuk Zainal Abidin Hassan. Zainal, who was also a legend of The Elephants squad, admitted to being affected by the development, as the team not only have a long history in Malaysian football — including winning the Super League, Malaysia Cup and FA Cup — but have also produced many national players. "This is a sad decision ... however, we must respect it (the decision not to compete). But it's a great loss. "A huge loss for the country's football, the league and Pahang. I hope the situation will recover and Pahang will return," he said after attending the WRA Academy Football Clinic at the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council Stadium here today. However, the Football Association of Malaysia executive committee member believes that talent development in Pahang will not be affected by this. "In my view, what's missing is the senior team, but the youth teams are still active. That's a positive move. Inter Milan strike late to beat Urawa Reds at Club World Cup
SEATTLE: Valentin Carboni struck the winning goal in stoppage time as Inter Milan came from behind to beat Urawa Red Diamonds 2-1 on Saturday and knock the Japanese team out of the Club World Cup. Ryoma Watanabe got an early opening goal for Urawa Reds, who were backed by a noisy contingent of their supporters at Lumen Field in Seattle. But captain Lautaro Martinez had got Inter's equaliser in their 1-1 draw with Monterrey of Mexico in their first match at the tournament, and he repeated the trick to level matters here with 12 minutes to go. Carboni, the 20-year-old Argentine who had not made an appearance for Inter in more than two years, then appeared in the 92nd minute to give the Italians the victory. "Our opponents play with their hearts and to counter that as a team we need to play with more pride, be humble and know how to suffer," Martinez told broadcaster DAZN after Inter were made to work for the victory. The result leaves Cristian Chivu's team in a good position to now go and qualify for the last 16, while a second defeat in as many matches means Urawa Reds are eliminated.
