Homan reveals the truth on how LA riots started

Daily Mail09-06-2025

Donald Trump 's border czar, Tom Homan, revealed that the raids that sparked the violent LA riots were not for immigration purposes.
Homan explained that the raids that took place in downtown Los Angeles on Friday were part of a criminal investigation into a money laundering scheme and cartel activity.
'It wasn't an immigration raid. It was to service of three criminal warrants at locations based on a large criminal conspiracy that ICE is investigating,' Homan on MSNBC .
'That's why no one is talking about the Fashion District, it wasn't an immigration raid. It was to service of three criminal warrants at locations based on a large criminal conspiracy that ICE is investigating,' Homan said.
'That has to do with money laundering, tax evasion and customs fraud where a company under-declared over $80 million in goods, failed to pay $17 million in fees.'
'And it's part of an overall conspiracy on numerous businesses that they believe that some of this money is being laundered in Mexico and Colombia, the cartel activity.'
Homan noted the raids were no unsolicited migrant round-ups, but specific arrests were made based on warrants.
'So, this was a criminal investigation that they all responded to in the beginning. That's how it all started. But the facts never got out,' he said.

Suspect in Minnesota lawmaker's killing was ‘prepper' preparing ‘for war'

The man charged in connection with the recent shootings of two Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses was a doomsday 'prepper' who instructed his family to 'prepare for war' as he tried to evade capture, according to new court filings. Vance Boelter, 57, faces multiple federal and state murder charges after allegedly shooting dead the Democratic Minnesota state house speaker emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, in the early hours of 14 June. Boelter is also accused of shooting and seriously wounding the Democratic state senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, about 90 minutes earlier. In a newly unsealed affidavit first reported by the local news station WCCO and seen by the Guardian, law enforcement pulled over Boelter's wife and four children hours after the shootings near Lake Mille Lacs, about 75 miles (120km) north of the Twin Cities, apparently en route to Wisconsin. Boelter's wife consented to a search of her vehicle, where law enforcement located a revolver in the glove box and a semi-automatic pistol in a cooler. Police also found a safe, Boelter's and the children's passports, and at least $10,000 in cash, according to the affidavit by FBI agent Terry Getsch. Boelter's wife told investigators that her husband had recently sent a message to a group text thread with their children, which 'stated something to the effect of they should prepare for war, they needed to get out of the house and people with guns may be showing up to the house', wrote Getsch. According to the affidavit dated 14 June, Boelter and his wife were preppers – a term which refers to people who stockpile materials such as weapons, food and gasoline. Preppers' purpose for doing that is to survive a future major disaster or catastrophe such as war or economic or political collapse. At some point earlier, Boelter had given his wife a 'bailout plan' – instructions of what to do and where to go in case of 'exigent circumstances'. The plan specified that the family go to her mother's residence in Spring Brook, Wisconsin. She also told investigators that her husband 'has a business partner from Worthington' who lives in the state of Washington. The two were 'partners … in Red Lion, a security company and fishing outfit in Congo, Africa', the affidavit states. The deadly shootings took place as millions of people prepared to take to the streets to protest against the Trump administration and its assault on free speech, peaceful assembly and due process rights embedded in the US constitution. Getsch wrote the affidavit during what became the largest ever manhunt in Minnesota state history, when he believed the gunman may have fled state lines. Boelter was eventually captured two days later while trying to evade arrest by fleeing into a wooded area close to his home. The affidavit does not imply that Boelter's wife knew about her husband's alleged plans to attack the lawmakers. She has not been charged with any crime. Boelter was disguised as a police officer and drove a black SUV with a license plate that said 'police'. He allegedly ambushed the lawmakers at home in the middle of the night, banging on their front doors armed with a 9mm handgun, and wearing a black tactical vest and silicone mask. He exchanged fire with police at about 3.30am on Saturday outside the Hortmans' home but managed to flee the scene, according to a federal criminal complaint. According to separate court documents obtained by WCCO on Friday, law enforcement found a storage locker rented by Boelter in Minneapolis on 10 June. He had last 'used his access code' for the locker the day before the shootings. Investigators later found empty rifle cases, gun-cleaning supplies and a bike inside the locker. Law enforcement found a 'hit list' of individuals inside what they believe was Boelter's vehicle. It included Hortman, Hoffman and several other Democratic lawmakers, as well as reproductive rights advocates. In a statement released on Thursday, the Hoffman family recounted the terrifying attack. The statement said: 'We are grappling with the reality that we live in a world where public service carries such risks as being targeted because someone disagrees with you or doesn't like what you stand for.'

Home Depot co-founder issues warning for US economy

The co-founder of Home Depot has issued a dire warning about the state of the US economy. Ken Langone, who co-founded the DIY giant in 1978, warned that US debt is spiraling out of control and was a 'scary' indicator for the state of the economy. 'Look at the amount of debt we raise every year,' Langone told Fox Business. 'What is it today? Thirty-six, thirty-seven [trillion dollars], going up a trillion a year in interest alone. That's scary,' he told the outlet. The billionaire said he hoped Washington would heed his warning that 'we have to be mindful of the importance of our status in the world economy and the world markets. 'If we fritter that away, we're in trouble,' the 89-year-old said. 'Four weeks ago, we couldn't float a 20-year bond. They were unbiased. That's a dangerous signal. That's the beginning,' Langone said referencing recent crises in the bond market. The Treasury bond market has been rattled in recent weeks due to Trump's tariff policies and concerns over the effect of the administration's sweeping tax bill on ballooning government debt. US government bonds have traditionally been seen as one of the world's safest assets, as well as a place where investors can park their money in times of volatility. However, investors are looking upon treasury bonds less favorably and ratings agencies have even downgraded the US's credit rating. 'That should make us say, "Hey, wait a minute." When the integrity of our debt is subject to question, the next thing is your currency,' Langone added. 'I do think it's time to get some balance here.' The GOP megadonor, who once backed Trump, previously savaged the President's tariff policies as '[expletive].' Langone criticized the scope and timing of Trump's tariff announcement that triggered a market collapse, claiming the President was poorly advised and his math did not make sense. 'I don't understand the goddamn formula,' Langone, who supported Trump in 2016 and has a net worth of $8.4 billion, told The Financial Times in April. 'I believe [Trump's] been poorly advised by his advisers about this trade situation — and the formula they're applying.' Langone said the escalating geopolitical situation in the Middle East is adding fuel to the fire. 'We've now got this Iranian thing to go along with tariffs,' Langone said on Tuesday. 'I think people are getting cautious. And the facts and numbers that came out today indicated that things are slowing,' the businessman said, referring to weak sales and manufacturing data. It comes as the Federal Reserve also expressed caution about the economy by holding interest rates steady at its latest meeting on Wednesday. Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell said the full effect of Trump's trade policies have not yet become clear, but that he expects they will drive up prices. The central bank held the benchmark rate steady between 4.25 and 4.5 percent, but officials said they expect to cut rates twice before the end of the year. Trump lashed out at Powell following the announcement.

The whole world knew the US and Israel were going to strike Iran - but Keir Starmer was blindsided. And that's just the start of the humiliation, reveals DAN HODGES...

Two months ago I was sitting in a hotel in Tel Aviv, where I wrote the following words. 'According to several senior political, military and diplomatic sources, the United States and Israel are preparing to launch a strike on Iran that will finally eradicate the threat posed by the country's programme.' "This should have been avoided a long time ago,' a senior Israeli government source told me. 'It's time to draw a line.''
