Paralympic gold medallist Navdeep Singh and silver medallist Yogesh Kathuniya's events have not been added to the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympics events roster released by the International Paralympic Committee on June 3.
Navdeep won the gold medal in the men's javelin F41 event while Yogesh secured silver in the men's discus throw in the F56 category at the Paris 2024 Paralympics.
However, the two events did not find a place in the 552 medal events named in the list.
With regards to the 22 sports that were included by the IPC Governing Board in the initial sport programme for LA28 in January 2023, there will also a total of 4,400 athlete quota places – the same number of quota places as for Paris 2024 and Tokyo 2020.

Across the 22 sports, there will be 243 medal events for female athletes (44 per cent), eight more than for Paris 2024, while the number of medal events for male athletes has been reduced by eight to 263 (48 per cent). The number of open or mixed gender medal events has increased by three to 46 (eight per cent).
Of the 4,400 athlete quota places available across the 22 sports initially included, 1,967 are for female Para athletes (45 per cent), 107 more than for Paris 2024. There will be 2,228 quota slots for male Para athletes (51 per cent), 27 more than Paris 2024, and 205 gender-free slots (five per cent), a reduction of 134 places.

He said the govt has undertaken various schemes to support the players and has enhanced the prize money significantly for the medal winners of international competitions such as the Olympics, Paralympics, and Asian Games. Sukhu said the state govt has also increased diet money and is facilitating better travel facilities to encourage athletes. Athletes now receive AC three-tier train fares for journeys up to 200km and economy class airfares for longer distances. The objective is to promote greater participation in sports and provide modern amenities, which will help the younger generation stay away from drug abuse and embrace a healthier lifestyle, he added.

Last Updated: India will host the World Para Athletics Championships for the first time from Sept 26 to Oct 5 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) president Devendra Jhajharia announced on Friday that India will host the 'best-ever" World Para Athletics Championships later this year, ensuring every effort is made to make the event a grand success. The World Para Athletics Championships will be hosted by India for the first time, from September 26 to October 5 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The event will see more than 2,500 athletes from over 100 countries competing for 186 medals. 'It is going to be the biggest event in the history of para sports in India. Over 2,500 athletes and officials will be attending this event. It is a significant opportunity for India," Jhajharia stated during a ceremony to unveil the tournament's logo and mascot. 'We will conduct the best-ever event in the history of Indian sports. The world will acknowledge that India has hosted the best event in the history of sports," said Jhajharia, the first Indian to win two gold medals at the Paralympics. The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium is currently undergoing renovations, including the installation of a new track for the competition. Jhajharia assured that all preparations would be completed ahead of the championships. 'The track and the entire Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium will be ready a month before the tournament. We are meticulously attending to every detail, including providing the best boarding facilities for all athletes and delegations from around the world. The work is progressing as planned. All athletes and delegates will be accommodated in the best hotels in the city," he said. Jhajharia added that the championships would inspire a generation of Indian para athletes. 'The host country automatically benefits. New players will have the opportunity to watch the world's top stars in para athletics. It will also send a strong message that India is ready to host the 2036 Olympics and Paralympics." The ceremony on Friday, which also marked the start of a 100-day countdown to the tournament, was attended by the Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta as the chief guest, Delhi's Education and Sports Minister Ashish Sood, BJP MP and Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, the event's brand ambassador, and the head of World Para Athletics, Paul Fitzgerald, among others. Korat(Thailand), Jun 22 (UNI) The Indian contingent ensured that the tricolour flies high in Thailand at the Asian Championship para Badminton Thailand 2025 as they secured a rich haul of 27 medals. India's medals included four Gold's, 10 silver and 13 Bronze medals in the tournament that was played between June 17 and 22 at the SPADT Convention Center here. The Gold medallists included Nitesh Kumar (MS SL3), Nitesh Kumar and Tulshimati Murgesan (XD SL3-SU5), ⁠Mnisha Ramadas (WS SU5) and ⁠the pair if Nitesh Kumar and Sukant Kadam (MD SL3-SL4).
